Two episodes from catching up… Firstly, this is really painful to watch. Signed up for HBO Max for this show. Tried to watch The Sopranos. Could not handle the stupid. Watched Chernobyl. That was excellent. Watched some of The Wire, pretty good and loaded with star power. Finally powered through day one of The Pitt and close to caught up as mentioned. Greatest show ever, mostly because the person we signed up to watch this for, is eyeball deep in this situation and it makes everything relatable to those of us outside that field.

Welcome to Earth.

Just a brief visit to the mindless void. Thanks for the entertainment.

I heard that George Clooney recently made mention of wanting to do a cameo on the Pitt. Like a revisit-homage to ER of old.

Noah Wiley tactfully said, "George and I are friends but I don't see that happening. He has plenty of other roles to pursue."

Haha...dig and dodge?

Loved how they slipped a PharmD in there - pill counting pharmacist wanting to be called Dr. Still same pharmacist degree but university gets more tuition, they all act more prestigious., etc. My niece who is,the epitome of blond dingbat got in to the PharmD degree with a 2.6 undergrad and she called it her doctoral program - all at a university with a 97% undergrad acceptance rate.

Her husband was a worse student. He ruined three doses in a row of snake anti-venom on a patient wait in the ER costing the hospital $30k and they had to airlift more from another hospital because he ruined all their stock. So, he's now one of the hospital's pharmacy managers. And we wonder why health care is so bad. In my doctor friends' defense I wouldn't go into their field at all - especially today's.

Of all the stressful things on this show, Robby and Dana fighting is near the top. Work it out, you two!!!

I loved almost everything she said to him. People always think their job will go to hell without them. Get over yourself!

This. In my 30 year career, there have been a number of folks who thought they were irreplaceable, or I/we thought they were irreplaceable. But the work and the job always moved on. Always. A little temporary pain sometimes? Sure. But we always got along just fine without them. So I stopped sweating losing people like this 15+ years ago, and I know the same will apply to losing me one day.

I also got a kick out of Santos getting frustrated with Whitaker and calling him "F***leberry".

Poor guy keeps getting s*** on this season (figuratively, not literally like season one).

I wouldn't call it stupid, but I had trouble getting past the '70's movie's stereotype Italian mob portrayal of the characters . It just seemed so contrived and unrealistic.

They also just made so many damned stupid decisions. Yeah, I get committing felonies and murder are not smart decisions, but the mob could be pretty sophisticated in how they ran their operations from some of the documentaries I've watched and stuff I've read over the years. Can't recall specific examples, but it was just so corny.

I also could not get invested in the characters at all. I just didn't care about any of them.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but to the contrary, from the books I've read on the NY mafia, yes they had a bunch of schemes in various industries, but the mobsters running them weren't generally geniuses when it comes to the world of business and their schemes or operations weren't especially intricate.

Their plans were relatively simple and the guys running them often bold and obvious, and the only reason a lot of them lasted as long as they did was because of the code of omerta (i.e. no talking to the cops). But, of course, most mobsters eventually get nailed for something small and then rat to the cops to get out of trouble.

So, the simple gambling, extortion, etc schemes you see in The Sopranos and how stupidly brazen the characters acted was pretty accurate.

All caught up on this show! I can't tell if I love it or hate it yet lol. Also, did the actress who plays Dana turn up the accent by 1,000x between season 1 and 2 or is that just me? lol

If you're not replaceable, you're not doing your job. That job being training people to be just as good as you.

I feel like it's been a lot even early in s1. It occasionally took me out of the show in the first season but I've gotten used to it.

She's heavy northeast most of the time but comes across almost southern at other times, and it always seems a little overemphasized.

I thought it was cool that Captain Donald Cragen (Dann Florek) from Law & Order: SVU appeared in the last episode. He was Eddie Cohen, the old man who hit his wife with the car.

Having said that, I wonder how accurate that whole scene was with the doctors nearly forcing them into an assisted living facility?

I ask because my in-laws are in a lot worse shape in terms of mobility. They see doctors all the time and that's never been brought up that we know of.

Yes, it's gotten obnoxiously worse. I noticed it the first episode of season 2. It's distractingly overdone.

I've found myself struggling with her character all together this season. Somehow they managed to make a likable character annoying

I enjoy this show but every single time they say the ED instead of the ER I have to roll my eyes a little bit. I'm sure there were some ridiculous meetings where either Noah Wylie or other producers had to say out loud we can't call it that, and it just made me think of every time someone said The OC on Arrested Development and someone else immediately said don't call it that.

"Emergency Room" (ER) is increasingly being replaced by Emergency Department (ED) in professional, hospital, and official settings. While ER is still commonly used by the public, ED is preferred because it better describes the comprehensive, multidisciplinary unit that manages acute care, rather than just a single "room"

His post was malformed. Do you want me to just let him go through life thinking they didn't call it an ER so they didn't get sued?

Finally caught up on season 2, and honestly a bit disappointed. Probably has to do with there being no real build up to anything. This season feels kind of aimless, as opposed to last season where there was clearly a build up to the mass casualty incident. I do get the sense that we are getting some sort of mental health episode with Robby and Robby potentially exposing Dr. Al as having absence seizures as the reason for her spacing out. But none of that feels particularly interesting to me.

I also feel like this season has been fairly humorless, even more so than the first season. You can't have a show set in the ED and not have some humor. The ED is an unintentionally funny place. I think a lot of the issue is being overly PC and the writers being too afraid to be seen as "punching down" which is why every single patient has a sob story with a reasonable cause to their lapse in care when reality is many of these people simply just don't make significant attempts to care for themselves, and instead just come to the ER for convenient care.

I think some of these complaints are valid, but have you considered the orange turmeric patient from the last episode? She was both funny and totally at fault for her condition.
