I've read low to mid 20s. Apparently Twelve Months wasn't a part of the original outline and Peace Talks/Battleground was supposed to be one. Someone on reddit thinks 25 is the current projection outside of further adjustments.

Mirror Mirror is the next novel, no idea on the timeline for that.

I think he's 30% done with Mirror Mirror. We do have the novella Out Law coming in may

I can't remember where I left off in my updates, but I reread through Battleground, read the Toot Toot short story and The Law for the first time, and finished up Twelve Months last night. Really enjoyed the slow burn. A lot of interesting reveals. I like Lara more and more, but she's always been a favorite of mine.

Probably will take a break from reading for a bit. Kinda burned myself out and neglected other hobbies

Haven't read the novellas, did you enjoy them?

I did. They don't add much to the main story, but flesh out the world more. The Toot Toot story is our first look of life in castle dresden. The Law is him getting back to his PI roots. The Law was kinda rushed, like "I needed to talk to so and so" and the next paragraph is Dresden at so and so's place, but it is to be expected for a novella

The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. Finished the entire Sherlock Holes canon! Such iconic, engaging stories.

Last night I finished Prince Otto, by Robert Louis Stevenson and started When the Moon Hits Your Eye, by John Scalzi.

Thank you for adding the authors along with the title. So many just post the title which to me is disrespectful to the author.

Sam Houston & the Alamo Avengers by Brian Kilmeade
Probably the best of the Historical/Non-Fiction books that I have read.

Been on a Fantasy kick lately:

Shadow of What Was Lost- James Islington. Really enjoyed this book, but it was KU so just waiting on the next two in the series to go to KU.

Shadow of the Gods- John Gwynn. Once you get used to the names, this book flew by with a great ending tying the three storylines together.

Sword of Shannara- Terry Brooks. This was a guilty pleasure re-read from my youth. I really liked it despite obvious parallels to LOTR that I might not have noticed in jr high.

Just started Hunger of the Gods- book two in the John Gwynn trilogy.

The best/worst part about following this thread is that it keeps increasing the size of my backlog.

Thanks for the recommendation! It was very, very good. It really fleshed out some of the holes I have from growing up with one history and some of the more recent "revelations". Not to mention, I grew up in Bryan and all of the schools were named after heroes of the Texas Revolution and it brought to life some of the lesser known names.

Completed: Read Write Own - Building the Next Era of the Internet by Chris Dixon. It tries to explain blockchain and how blockchain networks could power the internet. Interesting and easily readable, though I think the author is a bit overly optimistic.

Up next: The British Are Coming by Rick Atkinson. The first volume in a planned trilogy on the Revolution. I really enjoyed his trilogy of books on the African and European theaters in WW2 and am really looking forward to this one.

Mythos - Stephen Fry. Audiobook. Fry is funny (he narrates Hitchhiker's Guide), but overall, this was meh.

3/5.

Read The Sound and the Fury. My first book that used stream of consciousness. I enjoyed it, but I should probably reread it.

The Hunger of the Gods by John Gwynne - A

Couple of additional character povs, increased character complexity and depth for pov and non pov characters. Fast paced, Norse inspired, cool monsters and does a good job of balancing character and world stakes.

Prisoners of the Castle by Ben Macintyre. Solid book, non fiction just doesn't hold my attention like it used to.

I finished "The Uncool" by Cameron Crowe.

I will now list this book as one of my all-time favorites. I thought it might be boring to read "the story behind Almost Famous", but it turns out that the movie is nothing more than some loose visuals that help the reader completely immerse himself in the rich, greatness of these stories. In a normal world, this book would have come out first, followed a few years later by the movie. But with the movie releasing 25 years earlier it feels like its a few steps ahead of "Boyhood", the Richard Linklater film that was filmed over 12 years. In this case, we know what finally happened to the band Stillwater, the writer William Miller, the mom, the sister, everyone. And the true stories in the book are so much better than the watered down version in the movie.

Reading Crowe's account of touring with the Allman Brothers, living in a bedroom between Don Henley and Glenn Frey, flying around on The Starship with Zeppelin, hanging with David Bowie in Las Angeles for several months, the Kris Kristoferson interview.... If you like that kind of classic rock, I don't think there's a better 300 pages out there.

There are some normal, sad family parts in the beginning, and the sad story of the parents at the end, but you all already knew that, so no need for a spoiler warning.

I'm gonna miss this book. Now back to dragons, or spies, or lawyers, or whatever's next on the shelf.

I'm currently reading Don Quixote and just got to the second part.

The number of books that have made me literally laugh out loud are few and far between, but Don Quixote has joined that short list. In fact the only others I can think of are Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and A Confederacy of Dunces.

This books certainly not for everyone and at times I feel extremely bogged down. I mean, there can be hundreds of pages where the characters don't go beyond a few miles. Lots of bickering which I find hysterical, and just absurd situations with often end in "thumpings".

The Second Part begins with my favorite style of humor. Essentially, it begins with correcting plot holes and loose ends from Part 1 that clearly Cervantes heard all about in the 10 years between parts. It's hysterical, and when one character is pressed about an inconsistency, he goes "well, the historian must have got it wrong, or a slip of the printers".

I'm reading the Penguin cloth bound hardcover classics version of this.

I crash smaller ships in to larger ships these days to facilitate transfer from/to ships that are too big to go in to port. Very niche job and very enjoyable.

ETA I would bet there are no more than 20 Americans that do what I do, and thata being generous.

I honestly thought they would be too but it has been very interesting to read the theory and physics of why things I know happen, happen. Additionally it is been good to refresh myself on the do's and dont's as well as branching out a bit outside the scope of my experience.

Wrapped up Station 11 today. Took a while to catch me but I really enjoyed the back half.

Might pick up Hitchhikers Guide next.

He said at a signing in Houston last week that there would be 22 with a trilogy wrapping the whole thing up, so 25.

Mirror Mirror is 1/3 done.

Streaming series coming with a showrunner who is a fan and won't "WOT it up."
