This is a lot of unnecessary drama for a relatively quiet month operationally speaking. Classification issues aside, I don't see why he thinks it's necessary to update his friends and family on military strikes. He sounds like a young officer excited to update his chain of command about an operational event with his unit.

Signal is E2E encrypted and the keys are not stored anywhere except on your device. The Signal Foundation (yes, it's a nonprofit) can't just read all your chats. That's the point.
There are logging controls, there are controls like DLP to prevent the exfiltration of sensitive data, there are data classification controls, there are administration controls to allow only authorized users in chats so that chats with the wrong people are not created, and several more. All of these are required by federal law.
It's not even remotely good enough to say it has end to end encryption. Hell, the devices themselves have numerous controls they have to follow in order to use an app that is being used to transmit sensitive data. Does his wife, brother and the media have devices that are managed and monitored by the DoD?

It's pretty sad how attached the lefties are to running the pentagon. And it's not like DOGE has really cut anything there, they just put out a forecast/request for a trillion dollar budget.
