Alexander Vindman told us all sorts of things Trump said on a phone call with Ukraine...that he didn't actually say.

Every conservative president gets this treatment and usually folds.

They make accusations with unverified sources. They get some intel people to get quoted anonymously. They then create more speculation that this bad person is about to get fired (even if its not true). They get the president (usually concerned with polls and reelection) all running in circles. They get the appointee concerned about his reputation. Then they all agree to fold.

Mike Flynn in the first 30 days of Trumps first 4 years. They folded within days.
They did it to Bush Jr as well...with true conservative Robert Ashcroft as AG. Bush folded.
They did it to Bush Sr. when they get John Tower out at defense. Folded within hours.

Trump aint playing this time...

the actual report in the NY Times stated "some" of what General Kurilla had sent to Hegseth was then texted by Hegseth in the Signal chat.

meaning it could have been simply "we just hit Yemen 5 minutes ago"

Interesting. I just went over the OP, and the link to the article from the Independent. There is no concrete timeline of this second Signal chat. The NYT simply stated "upcoming military strike" on March 15th, the day of the strike. There was a second note that the source stated that Hegseth did this at "approximately" the same time as the original SignalGate texts.

Lot of wiggle room there. So was that 2 hours before the strike?, 15 minutes before the strike?, while the planes were in the air?, or... After the strike was completed?

We're left to conjecture based upon 3 words, and the word "approximately" in the article.

I've seen this playbook before.
I'm just wondering what his wife texted back. "Great job, hon!"….my wife would have asked me why she should care about this stuff.
Is your wife an active producer/journalist in the political realm?

That's what's so crazy about this. The communication was secure. People can gripe about Signal all they want, but until this episode, it was an approved method of secure communication within the government.

So are Hegseth's wife and brother security risks? Aparently not, though information still does seem to be leaking from the Pentagon like a seive. Hegseth's wife and brother leak nothing, but THEY'RE the problem.

Do you get how asinine this sounds?

We don't know the name of the individual…but it sure reads like something a Combatant Commander would send to a SECDEF as an operational update over a secure system.

It is not an approved system for classified information. Everyone who has ever had a clearance would agree it was at least SECRET…we will find out at some point what the classification was when Gen Kurilla sent the update to Pete.

the fact that the SECDEF wrote classified material on an unclassified system in and of itself, is not classified…that's not a leak

I get that. But you cannot say that individuals at the Pentagon have NOT leaked classified information to the media in the past. That is my point.

There was no leak to the media (outside of the Atlantic reporter snooping on the original thread). And to the extent that using Signal was a bone-headed move in this engagement, this is simply a bootstrap on to the original event - which I am sure will not happen again.

To me, this is another flavor of stacking charges of the same accounting practice that was done a consistent way over a year into 13 separate felonies. SignalGate2 happened concurrently - allegedly - with SignalGate1, which has been litigated in the media and resolved. So this is just another bite at the same apple.

If it happens again, we'll talk.

The hypocrisy of the left/libs/dems is just unbelievable.

And I will repeat, the missions executed under this SecDef have been successful…..

Whereas, we point out the American soldiers that died under Biden's watch, and they are silent. Nobody was fired. Nobody in the media and from the left discussed the incompetence.

Jill Biden is literally running Cabinet meetings, and thst is ok….

The level of hypocrisy is just other-worldly.

They don't see it because they've been used to having the legacy media run cover for their side since the day they were born. It's quite fascinating actually that they can raise their concerns with a straight face and not an ounce of shame.

Is this supposed to be sarcasm? Because anyone trying to say there was any semblance of competence with the Biden/harris catastrophe of an administration needs to be admitted to a mental hospital.

it has nothing to do with biden, but whataboutism noted. there were any number of competent conservatives with pentagon leadership experience trump could have selected for this role and instead he chose a brown-nosing fox host.
You really mean their are numerous neocon flunkies' that you lefties would have been happy for Trump to appoint. Pretending this is anything but an ideological attack from the necon circle jerk and their friends in the leftist's media echo clamber is a joke,
No, any O-5 from Army or Navy SOF would have been an upgrade to the platoon commander we currently have.
Huh...seems a few O-5's and O-6's have made the news lately for being insubordinate or flat out stupid. So no, plenty of field and flag officers that would not be an upgrade.
I didn't say any O-5…

Makes you wonder if Team Trump is keeping a few of these sorts of news bombs for a time where he needs to distract, derail the news cycle.

There was a bit on Routh a couple of weeks ago.

Hell, I still want to know the truth about the DePape-Pelosi Bromance and who was in Pauls car when he got pulled over for driving drunk right before.

Yes.

Do you know that when you state "No, any O-5" and then claim that you didn't state "I didn't say any O-5" that you're incorrect in your statement. Even if you put a "qualifier" on the statement.

BTW, how many O-5/6 Army/Navy SOF have been SecDef?

I've spent 13 years in the Army.

They sent me to John's Hopkins to get a graduate degree in DC.

I feel more ******ed after I left than when I first started there.

I watch YouTube for my history lessons instead. And it's free.

BYW, for those of you worried about China and Russia, they're ******ed beyond all belief. Watching them try and solve a problem is comparable to a monkey trying to nail a hammer to a head.

They're incredibly unintelligent people.

we're on a message board. I make a statement with a strong qualifier, you choose to ignore it, and then claim I'm making a point that I am not. No, not just any military O-5 would work, but I would argue most from the special forces community at the O-5 level would be an upgrade over Pete. Ignoring qualifiers - seems to be the theme here.

Because they can't have any rational thoughts. Easier to project and make accusations than factually support an idea or belief.

And that's what chaps my ***. Democraps have been getting away with literal murder for decades with barely any of them being held to account, much less prosecuted. It was refreshing to see Bob Menendez prosecuted for taking bribes, but he's just the tip of the iceberg.

I'd say there's somewhere in the realm of 10-20% of "Republicans" who are actually Rinos who need investigating just as badly as 75-85% of Democraps. The Rinos are liars to begin with so it's not much of a stretch for them to be downright crooked. And I'm all for everyone of the crooked sobs, democrap and rino, being investigated/ prosecuted.
