Again, why should someone be arrested solely for carrying a gun without a permit? Or is there some other reason you think he should be arrested for that you're not wanting to share?
NEW: @Sec_Noem forced to lived on military base in DC for security reasons (after her home was doxed by media).

If anyone tells you this administration supports the Second Amendment, they are lying to you.

Absolutely. Why is carrying a pistol without a license a crime?

I don't know, I wasn't there. Could be he was pulled over with expired registration or contacted by police for something else. I would say that is the most likely explanation.
I am against the tyrannical gun laws in places like DC and Chicago etc. I don't think this is a second amendment issue AT ALL though.
You think police just saw these guys were concealing handguns and police just knew it somehow?
But you're ok with this guy being charged, even though you're against tyrannical gun laws?

Yaaaaa....because that guy totally looks like just a citizen who wants to protect himself. Right. Got it.

Then all the January 6th Proud Boys that were arrested in DC on the same charges, those were legitimate arrests then too, right?

Why? I think the guy should be charged. But I can see the difference in throwing a rock versus a $5 foot long at an LEO, and that that should factor in the sentencing.

What laws, and presumably courts/officers of the law are appropriate to ignore in your view?
There are a lot of gun laws I vehemently disagree with, but studiously make sure I comply with them in any case.
I don't think they should be ignored. But thinking someone being charged with this is bull**** and also thinking the law should not exist at all are consistent opinions.

AG Pam Bondi has nullified this order and stripped authority from D.C.’s incompetent police chief as a result of it. https://t.co/5nKBELvR2r pic.twitter.com/rVoYgHG8bm

Good to see someone is consistent on that. Blue star for you.
And I'll go on the record in saying that I was likely in favor of the Proud Boys being charged for violating the gun laws at the time they were charged. But I've come to realize that if you're going to be in favor of right to carry without a permit, you can't be in favor of the Proud Boys being charged at the same time. So I've changed on that.
Roughly 300 J6ers were charged with this 111 felony. Several were denied release and incarcerated awaiting trial. Even minor scuffles with police—shoving, grabbing at a riot shield, throwing a water bottle—resulted in years in federal prison. New rules. pic.twitter.com/ab5dItb9px

I mean he's *probably* a criminal or up to no good, right? Just based on his appearance. That's perfectly fine then I guess.

The only law(s) I could find concerning gun permits in D.C. was:
Code of the District of Columbia 224504. Carrying concealed weapons; possession of weapons during commission of crime of violence; penalty.
a) No person shall carry within the District of Columbia either openly or concealed on or about their person, a pistol, without a license issued pursuant to District of Columbia law, or any deadly or dangerous weapon. Whoever violates this section shall be punished as provided in 22-4515, except that:
(1) A person who violates this section by carrying a pistol, without a license issued pursuant to District of Columbia law, or any deadly or dangerous weapon, in a place other than the person's dwelling place, place of business, or on other land possessed by the person, shall be fined not more than the amount set forth in 22-3571.01 or imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both; or
(2) If the violation of this section occurs after a person has been convicted in the District of Columbia of a violation of this section or of a felony, either in the District of Columbia or another jurisdiction, the person shall be fined not more than the amount set forth in 22-3571.01 or imprisoned for not more than 10 years, or both.
Seems pretty extreme. Maybe it would be best to get a permit.
Don't like, work to change the law
Quote:
President Donald Trump pledged Thursday that "phony" Washington crime data would be investigated amid his federal takeover of the local police.
"They are under investigation right now," Trump said from the Oval Office. "They are giving us phony crime stats, just like they gave other stats in the financial world. But they're phony crime stats, and Washington, D.C., is at its worst point, and it will soon be at its best point."

I've lived in DC since 2010. It has gone downhill every year since 2014. Reasons why:
— Saagar Enjeti (@esaagar) August 11, 2025
1. No prosecution/leniency for juvenile offenders
2. Yearly uptick in vagrancy/homelessness
3. 2020 lockdowns nuked the urban centers
4. MPD has bled officers since BLM
5. Legalized weed
