Again, why should someone be arrested solely for carrying a gun without a permit? Or is there some other reason you think he should be arrested for that you're not wanting to share?

Yaaaaa....because that guy totally looks like just a citizen who wants to protect himself. Right. Got it.

I don't know, I wasn't there. Could be he was pulled over with expired registration or contacted by police for something else. I would say that is the most likely explanation.

I am against the tyrannical gun laws in places like DC and Chicago etc. I don't think this is a second amendment issue AT ALL though.

You think police just saw these guys were concealing handguns and police just knew it somehow?

But you're ok with this guy being charged, even though you're against tyrannical gun laws?

Take the L, friend.

I mean he's *probably* a criminal or up to no good, right? Just based on his appearance. That's perfectly fine then I guess.

This line of reasoning may be the dumbest, most obtuse I've seen on forum 16. Congrats. You're #1

If they were carrying without a license, then yes, those arrests were legitimate. BUT for the crime of carrying without a license...not the other bull**** that got made up.

Good to see someone is consistent on that. Blue star for you.
And I'll go on the record in saying that I was likely in favor of the Proud Boys being charged for violating the gun laws at the time they were charged. But I've come to realize that if you're going to be in favor of right to carry without a permit, you can't be in favor of the Proud Boys being charged at the same time. So I've changed on that.

I'm not uncomfortable at all. I'm in favor of the arrests. You're the poster acting like the poofter who assaulted the FBI agent with a Subway sandwich.

Why? I think the guy should be charged. But I can see the difference in throwing a rock versus a $5 foot long at an LEO, and that that should factor in the sentencing.

Nobody was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Your band of lunatic, leftist goons are going to be charged when they commit crimes. Brandon is no longer in charge

If you believe in law and order, you uphold the current law, even if it is flawed.

I think there should be open carry in every state. But if a state currently requires a license to carry a gun, it has to be enforced.

What laws, and presumably courts/officers of the law are appropriate to ignore in your view?

There are a lot of gun laws I vehemently disagree with, but studiously make sure I comply with them in any case.

I don't think they should be ignored. But thinking someone being charged with this is bull**** and also thinking the law should not exist at all are consistent opinions.

How do you know they were not felons with prior rap sheets? These dude's do not look like model ciizens...they're most likely drug dealers/bangers. You're just completely guessing that they were only confronted and arrested for carrying a concealed gun.

Also, as someone mentioned, there are a lot of gun laws, many which most of us disagree with. I think I should be able to buy a suppressor and full auto rifle or MP5 at Buc-ees. But I don't buy a full auto firearm off the black market because I know I'll be breaking the law and may end up getting boofed in prison.

Dont know anything about the specifics of these arrests, just like you don't. If felons with violent records, absolutely. These guys definitely don't look like my black buddies...they look like guys my black buddies want nothing to do with.

Since a lot of people are quoting you on this, I will as well.

This crime is essentially an "add-on" to an existing arrest/detention. If you weren't assaulting someone, you wouldn't have gotten arrested and they find a gun on you that you don't have a permit for.

It is 99% of the time added after they have detained you on something else.

A cop pulls you over for speeding. But then you have a suspended license. It wasn't originally what they got you on, but will be added on because it is against the law also.

Want to carry isn't the issue, get a license.

The only law(s) I could find concerning gun permits in D.C. was:
Code of the District of Columbia 224504. Carrying concealed weapons; possession of weapons during commission of crime of violence; penalty.
a) No person shall carry within the District of Columbia either openly or concealed on or about their person, a pistol, without a license issued pursuant to District of Columbia law, or any deadly or dangerous weapon. Whoever violates this section shall be punished as provided in 22-4515, except that:
(1) A person who violates this section by carrying a pistol, without a license issued pursuant to District of Columbia law, or any deadly or dangerous weapon, in a place other than the person's dwelling place, place of business, or on other land possessed by the person, shall be fined not more than the amount set forth in 22-3571.01 or imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both; or
(2) If the violation of this section occurs after a person has been convicted in the District of Columbia of a violation of this section or of a felony, either in the District of Columbia or another jurisdiction, the person shall be fined not more than the amount set forth in 22-3571.01 or imprisoned for not more than 10 years, or both.

Seems pretty extreme. Maybe it would be best to get a permit.

They would need 'cause' to mess with him to begin with (of course), but statistically speaking based on his looks there IS a decent chance he is a criminal. For sure a much greater chance, statistically speaking, than the pink-shirted, sandwich assaulting, sissy Democrat being a criminal. Who knew.

When you dial down into the language of the DC Law. You can be imprisoned for up to a year. So yes. Arrest them and if the law correctly applied results in being arrested, charged, and prosecuted then do so.

It is realllllly stupid to carry a fire arm without a permit and any other paper work as required by law, on the night there is a PRONOUNCED & ADVERTISED surge of law enforcement occurs. They should get an extra penalty for being a dumb arse.

Phony crime stats are being investigated per Trump.
Quote:

President Donald Trump pledged Thursday that "phony" Washington crime data would be investigated amid his federal takeover of the local police.
"They are under investigation right now," Trump said from the Oval Office. "They are giving us phony crime stats, just like they gave other stats in the financial world. But they're phony crime stats, and Washington, D.C., is at its worst point, and it will soon be at its best point."

I listened to a mark halperin podcast this am with Joe Scarborough (Yeah yeah, I know…but they both live in DC) and it was hilarious how they both agree Democrats are totally failing to strategize how to respond to Trump taking on crime in DC. Around 20-25 minutes.
