Brilliant move. I have been CM about the idea of deploying troops to exclusively blue states as Executive overreach. At the same time, were well past the point of tolerating a culture of crime in major cities. By listening to the "what about Memphis?" argument, it flips this to being specifically about crime, and shows the quality of listening to your critics. Memphis is worse than Chicago, per capita, so clean it up. And make liberals own law and order failure.

While this is true, there is no reason he couldn't declare another emergency on day 31 and be there another 30 days.

Police presence and knowing laws are enforced rigorously doesn't just make people feel safe, it makes it actually safe.

I like the concept of keeping the guard out there. Their equipment and dress are no more threatening than the multitude of Capitol police who have their long guns out with full tactical gear on.

And if Trump his home you can usually spot the snipers in the roof and around the grounds.

It's only come to this because crooks feel emboldened, because people kept thinking police presence and enforcing laws is "threatening" is nonsense.

I understand that's not what your point was, just saying seeing the NG more police and the like should always be welcomed.
