Which senators do we need 2 of Murkowski, Collins or McConnell?

Fetterman is supposedly a yes, so we would need 1 of those 3 and Vance to break the tie.

I cant imagine why McConnell would disagree, other just being an old ****** or maybe his handlers are against it because his brain is completely useless, he is retiring after his term.

His family has made billions off shipping trade with China. That old ass turtle is a Chinese puppet.

If voting is important enough for citizens, they will do the needful (get sone form of ID) to vote.

If do not, well it is their issue... they don't care, too lazy.

So here's something that I don't understand. The theory behind this law is that there is so much election fraud that has benefitted Democrats, that requiring Voter ID is necessary. The logic behind maintaining the filibuster is that if you eliminate it, then when the other side gets back in power, then the bar they have to clear to pass legislation will have been lowered and so it's worth sacrificing some things you want to do in order to prevent your opponents from doing things they want to do.

But if the premise that massive voter fraud has benefitted Democrats is correct, and this law eliminates this advantage, then that would surely eliminate any possibility of them winning future elections. So the worry about them being unencumbered by the elimination of the filibuster seems unnecessary. So what is behind the hesitation of Republican Senators to eliminate the filibuster to pass this law?

Because half of the GOP is also the enemy, they just LARP as conservatives.

Is there proof that legal voters anywhere don't have IDs?

Too much irony here

It would be funny if, in a break of normal voting procedures, Thune passed around a box, asked everyone to submit their vote by putting a piece of paper that says Yea or Nea into the box, and then counted all of the pieces of paper, and they somehow magically voted to pass the SAVE act 60 to 40.

They don't have to go on record with an actual position, and it is the greatest cover ever for doing nothing.

She seems to be referring to a drivers license but from what I understand, this will not suffice as proof of citizenship, which is what the SAVE Act calls for.

REAL ID compliant drivers licenses require proof of citizenship. If you have one, that is all you need. All 50 states, DC, and 5 US territories are now issuing REAL ID compliant licenses.

Not so fast my friend. Whilst this was supposed to be the case, I do not trust that NY and CA followed the rules. I do recall seeing that some of the "no name" CDLs issued by NY appeared to show a REAL ID stamp.

Regardless, showing an ID is one step. Verifying that ID to a voter registration is the full process and in theory that should eliminate this issue.

Per the other thread covering this same sort of topic (FBI Fulton County raid), yes supposedly all are REAL ID compliant. Supposedly being the operative word. Grok says that CA and NY issue a variation of the IDs given so illegals can drive semis over innocent Americans with a denotation they are NOT real ID compliant, but the examples of the "No Last Name" IDs given in NY showed a REAL ID compliancy logo.

Yeah, if states are issuing REAL ID licenses to illegals, that should be a federal crime for which whoever is making that decision should do time. The whole point of the REAL ID process is to make them useable for citizenship verification.

The worry about our government having too much personal information, is laughable.

For those of us paying taxes, AND for those on welfare, one could assume the files are extensive and complete.

Guess what, the files that don't exist are the ones we don't want voting.

Looks like they are 1 Senator away if the zombie filibuster fors away (SIAP - last I read here was that they were 2 away):

Maybe Fetterman will cross the aisle in the end? Turtle and Murkowski are unattainable, and Tillis/Collins are likely longshots (although as shown above, Scott is working hard on Tillis).

Tillis was a supporter of the original SAVE Act. I think it's likely he co-signs once able to extract whatever is the necessary pound of flesh. Collins probably the same.

Doubt Fetterman sponsors but probably will vote yes in the end.

Trump put a Truth out just a bit ago saying he has explored a backup plan. I will go grab it.

Quote:

We cannot let the Democrats get away with NO VOTER I.D. any longer. These are horrible, disingenuous CHEATERS. They have all sorts of reasons why it shouldn't be passed, and then boldly laugh in the backrooms after their ridiculous presentations. If it weren't such a serious matter, it would be considered a TOTAL JOKE! No Voter I.D. is even crazier, and more ridiculous, than Men playing in Women's Sports, Open Borders, or Transgender for Everyone. Republicans must put this at the top of every speech It is a CAN'T MISS FOR RE-ELECTION IN THE MIDTERMS, AND BEYOND! Even Democrat Voters agree, 85%, that there should be Voter I.D. It's only the Political "Leaders," Crooked Losers like Schumer and Jeffries, that have no shame, and explain why it's "racist," and every other thing that they can think of. This is an issue that must be fought, and must be fought, NOW! If we can't get it through Congress, there are Legal reasons why this SCAM is not permitted. I will be presenting them shortly, in the form of an Executive Order. I hope the Supreme Court realizes, as they "painstakingly" review the very simple topic of Country Saving Tariffs (Those same Tariffs that have been used, by other Countries, against the U.S.A. to drain it of its Treasure and Security for many years!), and all sorts of other things, that are making our Country Rich, Powerful, and Safe Again, that these Corrupt and Deranged Democrats, if they ever gain power, will not only be adding two States to our roster of 50, with all of the baggage thereto, but will also PACK THE COURT with a total of 21 Supreme Court Justices, THEIR DREAM, which they will submit easily and rapidly when they immediately move to terminate the Filibuster, probably in their first week, or sooner. Our Country will never be the same if they allow these demented and evil people to knowingly, and happily, destroy it. Thank you for your attention to this matter SAVE AMERICA! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP

ALL 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, and five territories are compliant with the REAL ID Act and currently issue REAL ID-compliant driver's licenses and identification cards. These cards, marked with a star in the upper right corner, are required for boarding domestic flights and accessing secure federal buildings starting May 7, 2025.

Murkowski will get reelected as long as she wants to be because Alaska has gone to ranked choice voting and there are too many idiots up there on the R side that put her as their 2nd choice on their ballot.

It is on the ballot to be repealed in November. Right now they still use if for the general elections.

ETA: The problem is also that they use "top 4" elections from the primaries, which puts the top 4 vote earners, regardless of party into the general. So if the dems only run one candidate and the Rs run multiple trying to unseat murkowski, the dem candidate is guaranteed to make the general election and the rest of the R votes get split between Murkowski and several other candidates. In the general, the Rs can either split the vote and give the D a chance at winning or they can vote for Murkowski.

There is real concern about their process of issuing REAL IDs.

If you have to be a US citizen to vote in federal elections, then there is no winning argument regarding asking you to prove it up when casting a ballot.

That's a most basic principle of fair elections.

Anyone who is against it is pro cheating. Thats it.
