You need a birth certificate to sign up for tball or any select baseball league. That's how ridiculous the democrat opposition is. I'm sure other sports require proof of age as well.

Any argument that married women can't vote is another level of nonsense.

If a bill is in the news, it will not pass the senate.

If a bill is news then it's political. If it's political then you have to vote to oppose the other political party no matter the issue.

The only political legislation that can pass the senate is budget reconciliation.

This bill was never intended to become law, it was only put forth as red meat to quiet down hyperventilating conservatives who don't know better and want "action".

Also, the nuclear option would be a bad idea. Keep the senate rules the way they are. If you break the senate rules the democrats will just reverse everything you did once they have a president and pass even worse things that republicans will have to spend a significant amount of time reversing once they have a president and a majority.

A standing filibuster requires no changes to Senate rules and is the default policy of the rules. It's rarely to never used because of the hassle getting so many self aggrandizing geriatrics to stay in one place and periodically vote frivolous amendments down or up.

The so-called nuclear option was used in 2013 by Harry Reid, in 2017 to confirm Gorsuch to the Supreme Court, and in September 2025 to make executive appointments en mass.

I like a direct conversation idea, but would expect her to just flip parties officially then (possibly taking another outgoing swamp senator with her until the midterms, like Tillis), claim Trump tried to bully her (pull a victim card), and then we'd have even more real problems.

Susie Wiles I think is in charge of this crap, and she's not as dumb as the idiotic interview she gave to fake news would have many believe.

Trade her for Fetterman. BTW - Fetterman is a yes on this, correct? He has said so several times he would support.

Tell the baseball officials that is the reason participation of young Black kids in US baseball is so low. They should know Blacks cannot produce such documents is this keeps them from participating fully.

Besides being their usual squishy selves, what are Murkowskis and Collins issue with this? McConnells? This is as been stated an issue that both D and R voters are behind so why would any marginal R senator be going against the party on this?

Outside guess - there remains a concern in some R's that any federal oversight into elections overruns states rights to conduct elections, and that a federal voter ID law could down the road be upended or reversed by a future Congress to forbid states which currently do have voter ID laws to cease enforcing them - think what a President Newsom and all blue Congress might do.

Personally, I don't think that perfect should be the enemy of good enough and the practical reality of this being an 80/20 or 90/10 issue makes it politically unviable to reverse once in place, to say nothing of the optics.

Other than that, it's been insinuated that some R representatives benefit from voters who may or may not be able to substantiate their citizenship, same as the allegation against D's. Plus Alaska and Maine are weird circumstances with the two lady R Senators - they generally have to tip toe around issues the Dem platform tries to rally the base to arms about.

Probably want to use it as leverage to get other Senators to vote on something else that they do want.. "If you vote for this controversial law, I'll vote for the Save ACT"...Politicians that do this are pieces of crap, considering 80% of the public wants Voter ID..

The "talking filibuster"where senators had to physically hold the floor by speaking continuouslywas the primary method for delaying legislation for over 160 years, from the mid-19th century until roughly the early 1970s. This is not the nuclear option, and IMO should be reinstated.

The only hope for this country is to end the filibuster NOW! Too many cowards.

Term limits are desperately needed also. Tough road. There are too many turds in the bowl.

So here's something that I don't understand. The theory behind this law is that there is so much election fraud that has benefitted Democrats, that requiring Voter ID is necessary. The logic behind maintaining the filibuster is that if you eliminate it, then when the other side gets back in power, then the bar they have to clear to pass legislation will have been lowered and so it's worth sacrificing some things you want to do in order to prevent your opponents from doing things they want to do.

But if the premise that massive voter fraud has benefitted Democrats is correct, and this law eliminates this advantage, then that would surely eliminate any possibility of them winning future elections. So the worry about them being unencumbered by the elimination of the filibuster seems unnecessary. So what is behind the hesitation of Republican Senators to eliminate the filibuster to pass this law?
Ellis Wyatt

Plenty of republicans want illegals here and do not want a conservative majority. We talk about the swamp all the time. We have never claimed it's just republicans.

All democrats are Marxists. Many Republicans are thieves.

This is the perfect example of why liberals and progressives catch so much flak here and then complain about it. A blatant drive by to stir the pot with no substance or follow-up. Then they get mad when posters treat them aggressively while others try to engage in dialogue.

This is the kind of crap that makes me want to buy billboard space saying, "Lisa Murkowski would rather let non-Americans vote for her than to protect your vote."

If it weren't for Alaska's weird election system, Murkowski would have been out of office during the last round of campaigns.

I believe Alaska has actually changed them since then to something resembling normal elections.

I disagree with this slightly. The house needs to pass meaningful legislation, that's their job. Pressure should be on the Senate to get their job done as well. Sitting around doing nothing but slinging mud back and forth on social media is even more performative and useless

They do both......I look forward to the next useless House vote that will be eaten up by smooth brains thinking something is getting done.

They literally are down to poor people, people with skin pigment and those who lack a Y chromosome are unable to obtain IDs between now and November to they can vote.

That is the Dem position. The question they must answer is why?

Because they are racists. There are no race based or income based structural barriers to getting a valid photo ID in America anymore. Our poor people have cell phones and netflix subscriptions. They would have to show ID to get the cell phone. The fact that dems assume black and brown people are incapable is a sign that they are racists.

In order for poor people to enroll in any of the welfare programs, they have to...wait for it...provide a legal ID...

Interesting that they can find their ****ing birth certificate to get their EBT cards...but not to register to vote.

Fetterman is supposedly a yes, so we would need 1 of those 3 and Vance to break the tie.

I cant imagine why McConnell would disagree, other just being an old ****** or maybe his handlers are against it because his brain is completely useless, he is retiring after his term.

Because he's a lame duck senator that hates Trump, so instead of doing what's right for the people of Kentucky and the people of the United states, he's going to be petty and immature in order to stick it to Trump.

No different than John McCain.
