I think Vegas would want the two GB 1s for Crosby. I wouldn't go there. I would go a 1 this year and a 2nd or 3rd next year.

Honestly, based on how our offense and playcalling looks this year, I think we could compete with anyone and make a good playoff run with a competent defense.

Therefore, I'm willing to risk it and go into "F them picks" mode to get the best possible team to compete for the next 2-3 years. That is our best window to go all-in and try to win a SB. I'd rather try that and fail then just keep doing the same roster building year after year. This team isn't great at drafting impact defenders in round 1, so use those picks to get some established, controllable players. Here is how it would look for me:

Re-sign Pickens for similar to what Tee Higgins got or a little more.
Re-sign Javonte on a team friendly deal if he will take it, if not, let him walk
Trade/cut Diggs ASAP
Trade for Maxx Crosby - 2026 1st, 2027 3rd, and maybe one of our surplus offensive linemen get it done?
Trade for another impact DT - maybe Jeffrey Simmons from the Titans - 2027 2nd if possible
Trade for another playable LB - maybe Demario Davis? A mid-late round pick should get him

Then with the draft picks left, hammer DB, LB, and RB a couple times to try to fill out the roster with young talent.

I agree. I really don't mind giving up draft capital as long as you get multiple years of service out of a guy.

Kinda what I was eluding to a while back regarding getting under contract assets back for what we traded Micah away for. Players now are almost always the better option so long as you don't leverage yourself to the gills to obtain those players. We'd have to clean out the cupboard to get Crosby and Simmons, but those two players are and would be better than 95 or more percent of the draft picks we could or would draft in the next two years. Without a doubt. More than anything the draft is a place to supplement your team depth and occasionally add a superstar if you hit on one.

Agreed. If we are trying to draft and develop everyone, we won't be able to compete as effectively. My guess is the front office knows this if they are even kicking the tires on someone like Crosby.

I would also be okay with getting someone like Trey Hendrickson, albeit for much cheaper, and give him an extension. But either way, I think we need a high end edge rusher/DE that can defend the run and pass rush, as well as another LB, to even be competitive this year.

Over the next 2-3 years, I'd like to see safety and corner help added, as well as a young high end RB. Jaydon Blue isn't cutting it.

I wonder if Diggs would figure into any of these trades. He'd be our Kenny Clark deal sweatener... A good player that can help a team that needs help at that position.

Would a team looking to acquire draft picks and dump salary want to take on salary and a win-now player?

I think he'd have to go to a contending team that has secondary deficiencies and/or injuries.

Do we really think Diggs has a concussion, or is that just cover for some other issue?

If Jerry is making calls around the league and potentially dangling a couple of RD 1 picks, I sure hope he calls Cleveland and asks about Garrett!

The Raiders are an absolute joke of a franchise right in front of Jets. They should absolutely be looking to trade their best assets right now.

I don't like tanking and what not, but I am of the opinion that NFL teams need to be doing it more. Getting a QB and then protecting him is the absolute most important task in all of sports, so why are you not doing everything you can to get as many bites at the apple as you can at it? If my teams QB was Geno Smith and Justin Fields, I'd be trading Micah Parsons (we did), Ceedee Lamb, Bland and anyone else I could to be able to draft QBs and lineman to protect him.

Look at the Seahawks and Colts. Neither team tanked (or is successful because of the top drafted qb). They kept a solid group together, didnt make any all-in moves and then got a qb from a team that tanked who was actually good.

A team cant make themselves so bad they can't be competitive. They will have to overpay for the same talent.

Greenlaw is suspended for the Broncos. Some good fortune for the cowboys.

Another way to put this is that it's not like drafting a RB, WR, TE, G/C etc. where when you draft them in the first round you expect and have seen that guys can be elite really, really quickly. On the defensive side of the ball, outside of all-pro/HOF type of talents like Myles Garrett, Watt, Von Miller, Mack, Donald etc., it usually takes guys some time to really get up to speed in this league and to play to their potential.

Trade Diggs and a 1 to CLE for Myles Garrett..
