Say what you want but we really could use a guy like Clowney right now. We could use a lot of things, to be fair (maybe a DC with a brain to start), but Clowney is undoubtedly a positive addition to this team on the football field.

You don't draft a QB #1 to have him sit on the bench for at least two years.
The earliest you can cut Dak and not take a huge cap hit is 2027.
I'm not calling for Dak to be released. I've hate on him in the past but only because he's an easy target. He's pretty low on the list as to what is wrong with this team.
Green Bay did this with Aaron Rogers and Jordan Love. They're a pretty good / better organization. I'm not hating on Dak. I just think he has 1-2 years left at best if we're going to be any good. If you see the next Aaron Rogers in the draft, you grab him. I don't know if any of these qbs are that good. Just throwing it out. We're gonna have a pretty high draft pick for probably a couple years.
How'd it workout for Minnesota and JJ McCarthy or Atlanta and Michael Penix?
Dak is playing in his 10th season. He played every game his first 4 seasons. He's been able to finish 2 seasons since then. This season is a complete wash. It's over. Why even play Dak? If we had somebody to groom, we could do that. Instead we have what is probably a career backup behind Dak who will probably never play. We got lucky with Dak because we had all the pieces when we drafted him - basically Brock Purdy. We drafted Dak to take over after Romo around the same time in Romo's career as Dak's right now.
Cowboys have drafted 2 qbs since drafting Dak. In that same span, Philly has drafted 5, San Fran 5, and Green Bay 4.
Cowboys have gone out and wasted draft picks on Lance and Milton. Milton was a 6th round pick for a reason. He's probably a better pro WR than a QB.
And yes, qb is a lotta luck. Many skill positions are. Look at Jeanty. How many people on here wanted us to take him in the first round. He doesn't look like much in the NFL so far. He might be great one day. Same goes for these young qbs that have not played much.
I never said go and use the first round pick on a qb because "we have to". I said if we see an Aaron Rogers-type guy, grab him. No idea if that person is in the next draft. My point is that we have to address it at some point and Dak is certainly not getting any younger. It would be great if we had a legit contender to groom like some of these organizations know how to do rather than lucking out with Romo, Dak, etc.

I would be totally fine with it if we saw a Rodgers-type guy. I wouldn't be okay with it if we saw a Jordan Love-type player and felt the need to pounce on him with a first-rounder.
Unfortunately, this next QB class is not all that good, IMO. Klubnik flat-out sucks, Nussmeier is overrated, Arch seems to be overrated too, and LaNorris Sellers is a project...
I think Nussmeier is comfortably the best QB prospect in this class and believe he'll be a better pro QB than college QB. He's not close to elite physically, but he does a lot of the little stuff that doesn't get talked about, really well. I think LSU is wasting high level QB play because their offensive coordinator stinks, their o line isn't good and they cannot run the ball at all. That being said, I personally would not spend a top 10 pick on him unless I thought I had the right system and OC for him. Overall this QB class seems awful though.

I agree, he is probably the best QB in the class.

I wish there was a way to take all the guys from this thread and have a separate discussion about Aggie Football. The "zoo" is a cesspool... are any of the premium boards any better for discussion?

Don't know about varsity but premium is about as bad as the zoo in many ways. But it does have great info from the staff that I enjoy reading and watching

I see nothing wrong with talking a little Aggie ball as long as we can tie it into the NFL a bit, and you avoid doing it on gamedays etc. I'm certainly not going to thread police you or anyone.
What would make game days much better IMO is to limit new threads and keep all posts during the game to the game thread

Who do we think are think are good, NFL caliber Aggies outside of the obvious ones? I think Dezz Ricks oozes NFL potential. Just needs to keep doing it.

I think he's a more prototypical defensive end than Scourton. He just needs to keep refining the pash rush moves. Hes got the athleticism and explosiveness, and I like his bull rush and euro step type of pass rush move, but he needs more. And he needs to be more consistent.

Doesn't surprise me all that much. He's a very talented hybrid d-end who grades out really really well almost every week. Some of McShay types who watch tape and grade based off their eyeballs like him as well, just not that high up the board.
Funny enough I actually think Cashius and Ezeiruaku are pretty similar players except perhaps Cashius is a bit more physically gifted and stronger than EZ, where as EZ is a better technical player.

Thanks for being honest Danny! I think if some of our more usual posters feel that way I want to respect that! This is the NFL forum after all and the last thing we should do is take away from what we already have.
So let me ask this... do you think we could (would staff allow us to) create a separate thread... I dunno, call it the *** Official Dallas Cowboys Aggie Fan Club Discussion Thread*** or something like that. I hold Romo in the highest regard, but it may be very similar. Romo's prime years were marred by a really bad team and by the time we built a strong defense, an OLine, and a running game to support him and give him a chance to win it all he was usurped by Dak.

I absolutely think you should make that thread if you choose to and it will definitely have plenty of discussion. Unfortunately, i won't be a part of it because Texas A&M is not the College team I support. I'm a metroplex team homer and really enjoy talking about the Rangers , Cowboys , and especially the Stars ,on their threads. Mavs are not included because of Mark Cuban and the hate i have for him.
I appreciate it but you don't want me over there. That will be a thread for Aggie/ Cowboys fan posters and I'm not one of them.
