something that irritated me during the broadcast is they were showing how Dak stacked up in franchise history. then they said in talking to Dak this week that he came to the conclusion this year that the records don't mean anything for his legacy without championships. Like it was some big epiphany. Perhaps if he hadn't been looking for a massive contract they could have built around him a bit better.

Very interesting season so far for the Cowboys and typical early season parity (league wide) makes it hard to know anything for sure.

I think the only thing I feel confident about right now is Schotty will be our coach as long as Dak is the QB. They are a great pairing and our window is still open as long as Dak keeps ripping the ball.

That defense though.

Clearly worth sacrificing the next 2 drafts and your salary cap for!

The Eagles have such a front running feel and coach that you have to wonder if there's a possibility they could completely collapse.

I think the Eagles are more so struggling the giants being legit. Their offensive line isnt getting the same push. They arent wearing defensive fronts down. So barkley isnt as effective.

This is a giants team that got creamed by the Saints. Rattler is their starting QB.

Didn't get home until the second half but it was a fun watch. NYG's exciting whites on offense bested the Eagles exciting whites on D.

Rattler lowkey isnt' a bad QB. I don't know what his ceiling is but he's been solid for them this year in that offense.

Low key isnt bad is kind of my point. You get blown out after having a 10+ point lead to a meh offense. I think a team that can create complex schemes can have success against a rookie quarterback. Eagles were too banged up and short week to do that.

I actually think if you added some real deal talent to the Saints, he could be a top half of the league QB.

In light of last night, I know it was brought up a week or so ago and some poo poo'd the idea, but I think the Cowboys need to use some draft capital and get defensive help now.

Let me be clear, I'm not talking about high draft capital.

I think solid LBer or S pieces can be had without touching the first 3 or 4 rounds.

I do think there is the potential for this defense to improve. We will get Winfrey and Overshown back soon. The CB position should improve as Diggs gets further away from the injury. Bland is still working his way back. Revel should play, at some point, this year.

I think a good piece at LBer and maybe a S, could do wonders by the time the last third of the seasons rolls around. There is not anybody the Cowboys can't beat. It's a week to week league.

My biggest fear is that we waste an all pro type of season for Dak because our defense can't stop anyone.

I think this team needs another bona fide pro-bowl caliber defender on the d-line to really take a step up. I'll keep banging the drum for another interior guy; some of which I think would legitimately be available. The biggest thing is that they need to get a guy under contract and who will be here at least for another two years, if not more.

Quinnen Williams (27 turning 28) - under contract for this year and two more with cap hits of 21.6M, 26.650M and 30.40M
Jeffrey Simmons (28) - under contract for this year and two more with cap hits of 22.77M, 25.473M and 28.3M
Derrick Brown (27) - under contract for this year and three more with cap hits of 18.74M, 24.5M, 28M and 29M.

I think these three guys are 100% obtainable at the right price and would 100% upgrade this defense to another level. Their cap hits are pretty reasonable for the caliber of player as well imo. They would all likely cost you at least a first round pick, and maybe a couple of other pieces like a back-up o-lineman (we have lots of them), or maybe a 3rd. I don't see any of them costing two firsts, but you never know.

Other than that I would go out and get a safety. I want to see what these younger LBers do.

All three of those interior DL would be amazing.

As for LBer, I agree we have some young pieces. I saw someone on X say that the problem is trying to use Sanborn as Mike.

Yeah the rookie James filled in for Sanborn and ended up with 15 tackles last game. Maybe he's the answer until Overshown gets back.

I just think this defense will get better as they figure out the new system. They have solid pieces everywhere. More confidence will lead to more aggressive pass rushes and tighter coverage.

It's not the worst thing from a talent perspective, but really hurts from a depth perspective. We're now rocking a 5th round rookie RB who wears cleats that give him blisters, and Hunter Luepke who is a hybrid RB/FB.

I still have very limited expectations for this season... But injecting a pro bowl type talent at the most need position on our defense could be huge.

Let's be honest, Overshown could be more like an All Pro talent, but no idea what to expect from him after a really bad knee injury.

I am wondering if the Cowboys should become sellers. Next two games before the trade deadline are Washington at home and at Denver. The Washington game is maybe winnable but the Cowboys have not won in Denver since 1995.

If they decide to be sellers, I think you start with Diggs and Steele, both whom I think are potential cap saving offseason cuts anyway. Pickens? Personally I think they should resign him now but he's definitely rehabbed his value.

If you're going that route, I would trade for players you need now. CB and OT are generally high value positions. You need major help at LB and S, which as generally not as valued at CB and S.

Maybe you could flip one of those guys for a good LBer or S.
