So almost a best case from this particular weather front for most areas that needed something, in Colorado at least.

Purg yes big time. They got 21z

WC only caught 6-8 so not really much there. Keystone at 7-8 isn't what they needed either. BC and Vail got 8-9 so not a ton there either. Telly got 10. This weekend is gonna rip for SS and Monday should be a good snow day for the 70 Hills. Down South the next 10 days don't have much. Maybe 2-5 inches.

AF and Taos have nothing forecast

Really big hit was Purg and SS.

By far the biggest winner from this storm set is WY and UT. UT needs another but this was a great storm for them. Should let them open more terrain and finally get ahead of some of the Wear and tear by spreading out the crowds. Just gotta get mountain ops back to work.

Where there now and It's a high of 30 tomorrow w a base snow elevation of 6500. So the whole hill is above floor. It's 24 right now. Town may get a sleet snow mix but the hill will be all good. SLR mid mountain will be 10:1 - 13:1 - 19:1 so Itll start wet and heavy but then get really nice.

They had to extract a bunch of folks from one of the main lifts in Telluride the other day after the Lift broke down. Not surprisingly, Telluride is not reporting this.

Northern CO looking like good snow over the next 10.

SS: 40 over 10
Vail: 24 over 10
BC: 21 over 10
Keystoned/Breck: 18 Over 10
WP: 21 Over 10

Little bit headed for Southwest

Telly: 10 Over 10
CB: 14 Over 10

Not much at all headed for South Central / East

WC: 1 over 10
AF: 0 over 10
Taos: 2 over 10

BC & CB are best hills for above avg snowpack @ 107/108%

SS: 85%
Keystone: 84%
Telly: 104%
WP: 94%

For the northern / 70 Hills, Monday (Tuesday open) and then Saturday - Wednesday should see measurable snow and nice powder conditions. Monday Will be a rough day to get anywhere from Denver to the high country or high country to Denver so make sure you plan accordingly.

PC base up 10 inches in a week. Thats huge for them. Really hope they get SP back on the hill and drop more rope before what just fell rots.

Sure you're not thinking of WP? Haven't seen a word on that, and have some peeps over there for last couple weeks and they didn't mention that either last time we talked. But I'll ask them on that for sure.

We rode today. By halftime last night the hints of despair were evident so we turned the game off and said nope were gonna ride some pow even if its wet. I wish the base was deeper to get into saratoga bowl or the hoebacks. Be back after it Monday thru Thursday. Hopefully it will keep dumping.

Schweitzer is at 140%. Crews were out in force checking avalanche conditions today. Foggy and windy as hell but getting some good turns on the new skis.

Fun fact. Lifts get evacuated and you don't hear about it. Not common, but not unusual either.
To be clear PC can open terrain without hourly patrol staff as believe it or not patrol doesn't actually make that call, they just provide input.
Bayou City
How long do you want to ignore this user?
They don't have the people to open more terrain.

"Union members claimed in a press release 'the resort chose to operate with a fraction of ski patrollers and mountain safety personnel than would normally be on the mountain, and opened only a fraction of the terrain that would normally be open given the recent snow.'
Park City Professional Ski Patrol Association (PCPSPA) shared that on a given day of operations 100+ ski patrollers and mountain safety employees were sent to work at both base areas. The Union claims that 30-35 employees were sent to open the mountain during the active labor strike…. Strike-related impacts on mountain operations were not entirely clear. Today was a powder day on the heels of historically low snowfall, resulting in limited terrain open before the strike started. High winds also impacted lift operations and this holiday week is always crowded. Still, many lifts opened hours late, frustrating guests. One employee who wished to remain anonymous said, 'As a long time Park City skier and employee this definitely feels abnormal. Tombstone not opening is very, very unusual.' More than 20 lifts did open, however, a number similar to yesterday. The employee said a lack of normal on-snow signage was noticeable. "'generally the vibe here is that guests are mad,' they said. 'In my experience about 50% are mad at Vail and 50% are mad at patrol.' "

Vail can say whatever they want but the scabs they brought in arent enough to even almost run the hill. Vail just wants to college your money and not provide refunds.

They got up to 17% open prestrike. We we see how much new terrain they drop as long as they're running at 25-30% of mountain ops. After this decent snow they should be at least at 35-40% over the week. Their ski patrol it's self is usually 200 people.

First day strike lift lines:

Oh yeah and PC pays their SP $21/hr.

Vail pays the illiterate Peruvian J1 that valets your skis $20 + tips…. PC SP asking for $23 + $1600 personal gear is ridiculously reasonable.

From personal experience, it's not easy for fill ins to come in and take over. Vail had a mountain ops walk out for about 3 days during the Blue Sky or Die movement. They brought in ops from Keystone and Breck and it was a total cluster. After 3 days they gave in. I imagine it won't take long w the optics and the Press and the holiday cluster f it's creating for Vail to cave. They don't want the liability or the black eye this has become. They want the experience of a life time jaja.

Angelfire got like 1-3 inches night before last. Was perfect timing for our trip. At least coated the place for a day.

We may be skiing in short sleeves come New Year's Eve.
Bayou City

They reported 1 on OpenSnow and 0 on AngelFireResort.com. You timed it right! It's been a bare bones December. The avg is 3.9 inches a week and they recorded 2 total.

Bayou City
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Heres WCs December. They average 75 inches in Dec. They will finish with 13.

Heres Vail w 23. 9 more expected (32 total) but avg december is 53 inches. So about 2ft short.

Red squirrel or anyone else - what are the conditions like at Angel Fire? We are scheduled to drive up on the 1st but really not excited about what I'm seeing on the resort webcams. Any insight will be appreciated.

Mountain is good to go, not all runs open but enough to get in reps. Slick with these temps. Not too crazy busy. We got lucky with the snow other night. Almost 45 right now. Windy Tom. I believe a chance of snow New Year's night though. Any weekend on the mountain is a good weekend.

Need some guidance. Last year we did Keystone and got caught in a -20F blizzard. It was horrible. But the 1/2 day of ski lessons the kids got they enjoyed. So hoping to get another season out of the kids ski clothes we want to try again.

We can only make a trip during spring break, March 8-16. Looking at New Mexico and lower elevation than Keystone. Is Ruidoso too far south for that time of year? Is Anglefire a better bet? Are there other places to consider? Kids are 5 and 7.

Steamboat for us has been in good in Feb & Mar last couple of years.

Friggin 43 degrees today in Jackson and rained. Kids get to go from powder yesterday to shear ice tomorrow.

We have no clue how we'd snowboard all day then go from hot tubs to concerts then wake up and do it all over again for 4 days straight.

We do Beaver Creek every Spring Break. It's not that crowded when considering other hills. Don't think we waited longer than 5 minutes for any lift the entire week last year.

Super vague, my dude. None of us can guarantee a blizzard-less experience.

Are you wanting to maximize the week skiing? Or just keep them in 1/2 lessons? Anything you want outside of skiing? Budget? Flying, driving - do you have a major airport with lots of routes?

There's endless options - more so if you're open to BC/AB in Canada.

That said, Silver in N Idaho has an indoor water park. That's a guarantee if snow fun bombs for you. We're off to Sunriver, OR tomorrow. We ski Bachelor, then play at the Cove (indoor swim park) all evening. 6 year olds favorite destination on earth. Cute little downtown where we grab dinner, ice cream and ice skate.

Did Sunriver for a summer trip a few years ago and it was magical. I played about 6 rounds of golf and drank a lot of beer.

Always wanted to go back to ski Bach but it's a hike for us Texans.
