What's the difference between thr figment and the environ? I was in the store in PC the other day and couldn't figure it out. And I wasnt buying either so I didn't want to bother the staff

My 16yo went to Bridger today, so to give her some space my youngest & I did Big Sky for the first time. Snow was great.

Environ is a slimmer fit, bottom hem is closer to waist line. Figment is a looser fit and longer. More like a freestyle jacket.

Best time of the year to buy skis? New or even lightly used demos? I think I want to get some Blizzard Anomaly, but I am a also very budget and value oriented.

Offseason. Late spring, summer, maybe early fall to pick up unsold inventory from last year. Last pair I bought was in June of 2021, got some 2020 Volkls for 50% msrp.

Follows similar pattern as anything else that has models updated yearly.

Family of 4 heading to winter park in 20 days. Looks like snow has been great this year. This will be trip #2 for my kids. We can't wait!

Purg update- terrible! Super hard and icy snowpack. Patches of earth starting to show in numerous places. We need snow ASAP or warmer weather for spring conditions. Our skier friend had a better day but tough day for a single edge.

We have tomorrow to decide if we pull the rip cord and bail on Purg for somewhere with better conditions, we have a late spring break 3rd week of March...what would you do? Watching the forecast, looks like there should be snow coming but the warm weather continues as well...

Schweitzer is going to be a little warm but there's snow in the forecast everyday next week. Looks like we're setting up for a good spring. Hopefully that holds out.

Too early to tell. There's always a big dump in March. I wouldn't bail before seeing a 10 day forecast and even then thing can change quick.

Worse case scenario is you bail for somewhere else and then that place goes dry while Purg gets dumped on.

Last winter we were heading into Park City after a long drought expecting the worse. It dumped the night we got there and had fantastic skiing for two days.

I follow Chris Tomer on YouTube a he's showing 10" of snow by 3/7.

Yes, we typically get some big spring dumps but this winter has so far way underperformed. I remeber getting a foot of snow on May 31st around 2008 in Silverton.

I'd follow the link below to monitor the weather and make the best decision for ya. I'll leave the forecasting to the professionals but currently, our conditions are terrible…

I hear ya but we're pot committed after tomorrow with non-refundable lodging so won't get to the 10 day. I expect we'll roll the dice and hope for the best, traveling with another family so scrambling for a large enough house + ski schools + more expensive lift tix at this point would be a real kick in the nuts. Commencing snow dances...

I'm booking a work trip to Ashland, OR in early April. When does Mt. Ashland typically close for the year?

We'll have to meet up! Looking to move out here or just visiting?

Ashland projected close date is April 13th. Pond skim is on the 12th. We've still got a good base and have more snow on the way, so I don't expect that to change. If we have enough snow, they usually extend the season a couple more weekends to late April.
Mt Ashland is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays though, FYI.

I have a conference/workshop thing the 8th-10th. Could play around with my travel schedule and get a day on either end. It's a 12 hour drive down there vs. 6-7 hours of travel if I fly out of Spokane.

Are you in Ashland or Medford? I've never been to the area. We're looking for somewhere to relocate but Oregon hasn't been on our radar.

I'm in Eagle Point... it's a small community to the north of the Rogue Valley. Close to the Rogue River for good fishing. Close to BLM/Forest Service land for good hunting. It's got a great golf course. Only downside is that it's a little further from Mt. A, but it's still only a 45 minute drive.

Ashland is a great town... to visit. The politics of the community (if that sort of thing bothers you) are difficult and they stand out as a big blue liberal area in a sea of conservatives around Southern Oregon/Northern California.

I'm biased since I live here, but Southern Oregon is a great place to live.

Already eyeing spring sales starting up. I want something more truly all mountain and fairly laid back to ski to pair with the brahma 82 I have. I still dont like wide, but thinking Ross sender 94ti, or Solomon QST 92. Something light, fun, that can do a bit of it all. I might go to mid 90's. Just kicking around ideas after rethinking how I want to develop my skiing.

Really enjoyed the Black Crows Captis I skied a few weeks ago. They're 90's so not sure if wide enough but I felt they were real easy to edge but very stable going fast. Didn't hit much powder as there was none but have heard they're great in it.

The Faction Prodigy's I picked up earlier this season are 106. They're not nearly as easy to carve as my Volkls that are an 88, but I've been enjoying them this year.

I actually just did the same thing. I have stiff, damp, charging carvers covered but as I've started getting into moguls and some easy glades they are just much too stiff. So earlier this week I pulled the trigger on a pair of leftover 2024 Bent 90 @ 184 specifically to use for moguls and trees. It was between the Bent 90 and Black Crows Captis or even Corvus after a bunch of research but the Bent were on clearance at $320.

One post so You dont waste money :

What You want in a mogul ski :

Softer flexibility
More pronounced side cut
Shorter length
Narrower waist
Wood/CF core combo
Modrate camber under feet and gentle rocker on toes and heels.

The 94ti isn't a friendly ski. It's a fun ski but it's a ski that you need to know what you're getting into. It's also not a great mogul ski. The 82ti is a MUCH BETTER mogul runner.

You want to run moguls usually under a 90.

The QST : we call the quit skiing today. I'll it at that.

The Bent in a 90 is a ski we don't really know what the purpose is honestly. It's super soft and not wide enough to be a powder ski but too soft w chatter to do much else with on groomers. I could see it as a mogul runner but I also can't. I see it as a park or a tree ski. But when I think of the Bents, I think of a 10-20+ inch powder day so it's usually 100 and more often 110. That's really their design, not moguls.

The Captis Is an all mountain w a great mogul profile for the cut and VERY soft. Those can help float and have the bend to help get down. It and the Kore head are a little bigger than id usually rec but for a 90+ waist they are great.

For mogul all mountains I'd look at :

Rossi Exp 82ti
Nela 88
Kendo 88
Stance 84
Armada ARV 88
Head Kore 93
Ellen Ripstixk 88 (if you're wanting a do everything all mountain pair that can tree, powder, mogul, etc then the 96 are a solid solid set)
BC Captis
Kastle Paragon 93
Bayou City

Elan 96
Head Kore 93
Kastle mx88
Kastle Paragon 93 (Brand New ski for 2024/25 and my new fav for a sub 95 waist)

Back to hibernacion. Enjoy your time out there friends.

Too late, bug bit me. Found a great discount on some line blade optic 92's that were right in the category of attributes I was looking for. Hard to pass up 70% off retail on new.

I did eye a set of ripstick 88's very lightly used demos I found for sale, but as cheap as I am, I also know condition is subjective if you can't see them in person. I'll give the lines a couple of seasons and if I don't like them I'll sell or trade them.

Anyone have a recommendation on a cheaper helmet Bluetooth set? Hot a new helmet and my earbuds aren't going to work with it.

I've got a pair of Smith Chips 2.0 I might part with. Would these be of interest?

I got the family a 4-pack of the cardos and the chips are duplicative at this point.
