I figured someone had to chime in and proclaim how bad Houston sports radio still is in 2016.
Holy hell, try living way the hell on the North side of town. Sports radio might as well not exist.

quote:This.
Not only is Nick Wright horrible but 610 beats the Texans to death. I understand that's their bread and butter but good God it's so painful to hear the same Texans talk anytime you tune into a channel.
I mean seriously? How many times can you break down and discuss the same plays over and over? It's mind numbing.
quote:its a Monday after the Texans just won the division and are set to host a play off game this Saturday. You really didtn't expect them to talk about anything else today did you?
I don't mind Wright/Lopez, but the unending Texans talk from the hosts, coupled with the seemingly unending Texans shows is beyond tiresome. College football is not discussed much on the radio in Houston anyway, but on 610 it doesn't exist.
quote:I get the subject of the show, what I am talking about is the Texans Radio shows. Today, in addition to the regular shows/hosts discussing the Texans, the team has dedicated radio shows for the following times:

Houston is a Pro Football town, like it or not. College football has never gotten much play here from the radio guys.
quote:So that's 5 1/2 hours today, followed by 4 hours tomorrow, then 2 hours each on Wednesday and Thursday, followed by 4 hours on Fridays all dedicated exclusively to the Texans, none of which includes the actual pre-game, game or post-game (something like 9 hours). This is above and beyond the rest of the time when they are the only subject discussed. That's what gets tedious.

Bill O'Brien Press Conference presented by BMW 2:30-3 p.m.
Coaches Show presented by Amegy Bank
5-6 p.m.
Texans All-Access 6-8 p.m.
Tuesdays:

Duane Brown Show at Fuddruckers 6-7 p.m.

Texans Replay presented by Bud Light 8-9 p.m.

quote:Granato is with Raheel per their website. I'll have to give this a listen.
I've rediscovered Granato on 97.5 from 10-2. I had forgotten how great he is, by far the best in Houston.
Glad Clanton is gone in the AM and glad CP is getting an extra hour.

I like Fred and AJ... Mostly Fred but they have great chemistry on air

AJ is bad but Fred is usually pretty objective about the Ags.
I like their show because they don't take themselves too seriously and have fun. Plus, a significant portion of their show is less sportsy and more entertainment which I appreciate.
