But he got the ball first.
High ankle sprains take a long time. Sometimes you're better off breaking it.KCup17 said:
What else is new? Pulisic must be made of glass.
Yeah, he's had some muscular issues, but had a good run at the end of last season. This was a freak injury if you ask me, but he doesn't get the benefit on the doubt on this one from most.KCup17 said:
That is true but this is just another injury in his already long list of prior injuries.
Where did you see that Reyna wont be available? I've only seen Roger Gonzalez report from "sources", but if you follow long enough you will see that he is very inconsistent with how accurate his reports are.jeffk said:
Without Reyna and likely without Pulisic for the two Nov qualifiers. I'm guessing our roster will look pretty similar to what we had this last window with a couple of minor tweaks.
100% agree on 1 and 2.H.E. Pennypacker said:
Changes we hopefully see from October (assuming Gio and Pulisic Miss):
1. Konrad in, Roldan out.
2. Miazga in, McKenzie out
3. Scally in, Bello out.
Despite what we all think of Zardes, he has known strengths and weaknesses...and probably a lot of our negative opinion is pretty outdated at this point. He's not an elite player, but he does aspects of his game that are elite. They just aren't the flashy parts.oh no said:100% agree on 1 and 2.H.E. Pennypacker said:

For #3: I really don't know what we get with Scally, although the level he's playing at, he should be capped and working in with the senior team soon as he could become important by Qatar... His youth / development was central defender and right back, but he's played some left back. I think he's playing more right back and right wingback in Bundesliga now? Where would the 18 year old fit in right now?
LB: Antonee, Dest, Bello, Vines, Ream?
RB: Dest, Cannon, Shaq, Yedlin
Also, does Zardes stay home and we get either Sargent or Pefok back for these next two WCQ match days in Nov?
Known strengths, aspects of his game that are elite = I feel the same way about Sargent that you do about Zardes. The energy tracking back to help defend and win balls, making all of the runs, aggressive high pressure when the opponent wants to play it out, etc... Sargent is very good at those things. Just want to see him finish and score a goal.PatAg said:Despite what we all think of Zardes, he has known strengths and weaknesses...and probably a lot of our negative opinion is pretty outdated at this point. I think, assuming health, Pepi and Zardes are the for sure forwards called in, with room for 1 or 2 spots (depending on a players positional flexibility)
I'm a big believer in Sargent, even if he is struggling right now. I just saw him play with such technical skill in the US YNT games, I still believe in him.oh no said:Known strengths, aspects of his game that are elite = I feel the same way about Sargent that you do about Zardes. With Pepi and Zardes being the only true #9s called in Oct for three match days, if we add a 3rd or swap one out for the two match days in November (Pefok or Sargent), we'd sacrifice a winger - Roldan, Arriola Hoppe, Aaaronson, Weah, (...I'd like Konrad in for Roldan on the wing)... so then if you want another #9, either give up Zardes or Arriola in the call-ups.
I agree.akm91 said:
I say let's see if Scally can be a viable backup at LB and have Dest concentrate on RB.
Until Sargent starts scoring, I say we get Pepi, Zardes and Pefolk for Nov window.
Really the only thing Antonee needs to improve is consistency of his crosses into the box. His defense is light years better than his initial caps.Quote:
And on the flip side of the coin, of our "ideal" starters, I think Antonee is the weakest link, so it makes sense to at least try Scally out there and see if he's an improvement.
Miazga versus Mexico?Quote:
2. Miazga in, McKenzie out
I really hope not.Mathguy64 said:
I hate to say it but Pulisic may end up being the most talented USMNT player who never is able to log meaningful minutes for the squad. He just looks injury prone. He also takes a beating.
How many meaningful caps? He played in the WCQ failure in '18. And now? He could end up missing the rest of the Ocho. I hope its not the case. But he sure is starting to look like one of those players that just cannot stay healthy.akm91 said:
He's has 40 caps already in his career.
He's hopefully gonna start learning to get rid of the ball quicker when he needs tooh no said:
as I pointed out earlier, the current ankle injury that was the result of a knock in the September WCQ match vs Honduras is the only such injury. All of his other injuries over the past couple of years - calf strain, abductor tear, hamstring pull --- all soft tissue - muscle/tendon issues. It's either a string of bad luck or he's just strung tight and will always battle these types of issues. Sucks for him.
