Rapinoe appeared to me to almost start crying a couple times in her Fox interview afterwards.

But she's always been the smiley, positive not gonna show any stress type of personality. That's just her.

We are about to see our first ass kicking of the knockout stage...France up 3-0 inside of 25 minutes.

Those are my predictions for semi-finalists

Probably wishful thinking with those final two, but honestly England hasn't impressed me overly and Sam Kerr coming back for the Matildas might spur them to an upset of a cruising France team.

It wasn't the miss. It was the smile like she didn't care. I know that everyone handles pressure differently, but I have watched hundreds of pks. That was abnormal. Usually they are pissed at themselves and feel they let down their team. They turn and their team has to help them hold it together.
She's laughing all the way to the bank. Ironic that a year after the women help themselves to the men's share, they abruptly dump out of the biggest tournament at the earliest stage every. Coincidence?

I mean they would have made even more money if they'd won…

Also the men's players association voted to approve that revenue sharing agreement.
I think you're missing the point: the timing.

The women's team has been trending down, they make a deal to "share" (steal) money from the men's team, they suck and generate less revenue than they have in the past.

One might think they knew what was gonna happen and did something to minimize the trauma. They hedged their bet, and it looks like it was a shrewd move on their (commie) part…

7 of the 8 Group winners advanced in the round of 16. Only Switzerland did not.

I think that's a really silly theory. They felt they deserved equal pay, whether anyone agrees or not, and went for it at a time the climate around the country was friendly to their cause.

But again, as said above, the discussion was about their motivation to win, and they stood to make a lot more money and benefit in other ways if they'd kept winning.

All the "care" in the world wasn't going to address talent and tactical shortcomings.

Even under an "equal pay" structure, the WNT has zero incentive to do worse in the biggest money making tournament. You are giving the "commies" way too much credit instead of chalking this performance up to what it really was, incompetence.

The simplest explanation is the most likely 99.99% of the time.

But conspiracy theorists believe in the .01%.

So, there is a chance he's right.

that's bull*****

Quote:

The U.S. team's 1-1 draw against the Netherlands averaged 6.43 million viewers on Fox, making it the most watched contest in the group stages of any Women's World Cup in the United States. The prior record was 5.34 million viewers for U.S.-Chile in 2019. The U.S. women's first game this year ranks third with 5.26 million viewers.
They suck? They've won 4 out of 9 World Cups and were attempting to be the first team, men or women's, to win 3 WC's in a row.

And of course they'll generate less revenue this year. The teams make more money when they win, duh. However, because the men haven't sniffed at least the quarterfinals in almost 100 years, the women have generated more revenue from their World Cup wins than the men's team.

So what narrative are you trying to tell, again?

TL;DR version - We're going to retool and reload after we get rid of the coach.

Here's the assistant to the semifinal schedule:

Spain vs Netherlands - Thurs 9 pm ET
Japan vs Sweden - Fri 3:30 am ET
Australia vs France - Sat 3:00 am ET
England vs Colombia - Sat 6:30 am ET

I'm guessing I'll watch Spain-Netherlands and England-Colombia live.

The bolded part is patently false information, bull**** to use your vernacular. In the last 2 WCs the men have participated in, they have won a total of $20.7 million (2022 and 2014). The combined payout for the women for winning the '19 and '15 WWCs was $6 million. They won $2.9 million for reaching this year's round of 16.

Spain dominating the Dutch so far but have nothing to show 32min in. Should have had 1 but clanged twice off the post. However they are playing such a high line the Dutch are able to get behind them. Fun match so far

What he said. The winner of WWC got a higher % of the total prize money than the men's do. That's a fact and look it up. They want to make more money, get more people to attend and more people to watch so they can increase the prize money for their WC's.

Men's WC 2022 - Total Prize Money: $440M, Argentina received $42M, less than 10% of total prize money.
Women's WC 2019 - Total Prize Money: $30M; US received $4M, more than 10% of the total prize money.

Netherlands give away an incredibly dumb handball penalty. Spain puts it away
HummingbirdSaltalamacchia
How long do you want to ignore this user?

VAR giveth and VAR taketh away.

Dutch draw a penalty called in the box during the run of play for a pk. VAR overturns the call and rescinds the yellow. No PK.

Then VAR gives Spain a handball that wasnt called originally on the field. Spain converts penalty.

Spain leads

Brutal

Also, I find the Spanish women just as annoying as their men's team
