ESPN all about how LA lost...sigh...

A lot of people look stupid when they questioned the Mavericks roster. All of those little pieces have formed a great team. Nobody expects Marion, Jet, Peja, etc to play like it's 1999. But you don't need them to play 35 minutes. All of them have accepted their role and playing amazing basketball.

Most dangerous thing in basketball? Open white man. Peja keep the Dallas afloat while Dirk rested and nobody else could make a bucket.

Jet was sensational in the last five minutes. Hitting that big three in the corner broke the Lakers backs. Then a heads up play to save a loose ball in corner. He was everywhere. I don't think any Laker can guard him off the dribble.

If Dirk isn't on your top 5 players in NBA, reevaluate. Inside, outside, right, left, off the dribble. It's gotten to the point where I'm surprised when he misses.

Once again, Carlisle out coached Jackson.

Van Gundy has never seen a charge in his life. And Bynum took six steps on the aforementioned play. JVG sounded like an idiot there.

That's two games where the old Mavs would have folded like a lawn chair. This is either a new level of Mavs fan torture (where they inexplicably lose the series) or something to get excited about.

It's getting harder and harder to not be a little optimistic.

Its truly amazing how well the mavs are shooting from the outside. They lived by the 3 this series. And the lakers shooting 19% from 3 with 17 attempts per game.

Dallas has some of the best three-point shooters of the decade in Peja, Dirk, and Kidd along with Terry who has been nails in recent years. They are getting the 3 because of their willingness to go inside a kick out. It's a bit different than a team who is just looking to shoot the three.

Even for a jump shooting team these 3 point stats are just insane. Mostly wide open looks though. LA's defense is slow to extend their D.

LA CANNOT stop the dribble penetration so they have to come off the shooters to prevent layups. All of these open three looks have come after they've collapsed the defense. They are getting the looks out of their normal offensive looks and aren't just throwing up junk.

Someone explain how they get all these wide open looks? Were the Lakers not one of the best perimeter defending teams?

Not to mention the Lakers aren't doing much on offense either. Dallas' defense has been great.

I agree Simplebay on not "living and dying" by the three, but they are getting the looks out of the flow of the offense off of dribble penetration. They aren't like the typical three point shooting teams that only look for threes as Dallas would gladly take the open shots in the paint if they were there.
