This board would be such an easy/pleasant read if posters like Muy, Dropkick, and Simpleton would take a flying leap.

Pulling for a mavs upset in this series. How freaking awesome would a Griz/mavs WCF be?!

a) I'm not your pal, and b) I already gave the Mavs their props on the previous page.

Oh I know he was buying Dirk rest, but I don't think you do it with that lineup.

If you need to get Nowitzki a breather, at least put in Terry so that you have some kind of scorer on the floor. Watching every play go through either Peja or Marion was enough to make me drink a quart of Clorox.

Anyways, I'm ignoring the child now....

I think that the Mavs will be battling against the refs in game 2, so that one will be tough to win.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas lose game 2 by 15-20 points, really.

laying down the precedent for the "screw job" to come already eh?

can't wait to hear what happens after the Lakers win at least 1 of 2 in games 3 or 4.

there were questionable calls both ways yesterday.

I predicted this comment about a nano-second after reading what DP (a SPURS fan) said.

what about MW3? by quoting DP, the reasoning by the 15-20point loss already has nothing to do with the Lakers player, hell or even the Mavs play. nope, it's the refs.

I read MW03's comment more as battling the refs in game 2 would be one of many contributing factors in a 15-20 point loss for the Mavericks.

I really hope the officiating for the rest of the series is exactly the same as it was in game 1. It was inconsistent at times, but some of the ticky-tack fouls went both ways, and they let them play down the stretch. That's about as good as you can hope for in the NBA.

yes, unless of course you count the weak foul where dirk got awarded game-winning free throws.

if the Mavs don't get that call, and lose the game on a missed shot, you'd be screaming bloody murder on the overall state of the game. hence, why you're already prepping for a loss and blaming the refs now in game 2.

does a Lakers fan who witnessed arguably the worst 2 minutes of reffing at the end of the first half benefit his team really want to bring up screaming about the refs?

come on simplemind, the Lakers were lucky to even compete with Dallas last night

I'd be screaming bloody murder because it was very clearly a foul. I'd say something about the refs missing it, you'd throw up some comment about all Mavs fans be conspiracy theorists despite a truckload of evidence to the contrary, all of BO would say it was a foul, and then you'd start cry-laughing about something else as if it never happened.

Back in reality, the refs got it right.

Judge...you seem to be thinking i am the one complaining about the officiating. i'm not. i thought the officiating was fine.

i'm anticipating what the complaints are going to be like after dallas loses this series, and had they lost last night.
Judge

I try to be pretty reasonable about the refs. With the stigma that Dallas fans have as ref-whiners, even when I think something is questionable I usually won't say anything. It has to be pretty blatant for me to say it (eg any 4th quarter charging call on Dirk in the series with the Blazers).

If the refs really do make some calls that have a significant impact on the outcome of game 2, and I think it's blatant enough, I will say something about it, even if it benefits Dallas.

Simple, nobody here wants the Lakers to win other than you and an old pedophile on Rivalries, you do realize that right?

the lakers lost because they played stupid at the end of the game. just as dallas played stupid at the end of the half. the lakers also lost because kobe failed to make a shot he should've made.

the foul on dirk shouldve been called. pau bumped him, but it was a weak foul. just as easily, kidd couldve been called for grabbing kobe (around the waist, and the jersey). weak foul, but could've been called.

kobe definitely tripped over his own feet, but kidd has his arms wrapped around him. good no call, but, it could've been called. thus, the point of the mavs benefiting from a call that could've gone either way.

point being, im not complaining about the officiating. nor am i worried about the lakers losing the series.

It was not my intent to infer that the refs would "screw the mavs" as much as it was my intent to infer (1) that the Lakers are a damn good basketball team and (2) I expect Game 2 to be much more physical. Considering that Dallas lived at the FT line in the Portland series, and considering that Nowitzki got a handful of FTs total in game 1, I'm not expecting game two to suddenly be a battle at the FT line.

Same here. I wasn't even *****ing and moaning over the fact that Nowitzki got called for the elbow when Artest skated on the rooting foul in the block to end the half.

i see MW3. my mistake. i thought you were joining in on laying down the groundwork for *****ing about a (probable) loss in game 2.

if/when the mavs lose in game 2, i don't think it will be because of the refs. and it seems neither do you.

The foul on Dirk was obvious and it would have been a travesty not to call it. There was no foul on Kobe, though one might have been called just because of the way it looked with Kobe falling down as Kidd chased him around the screen.

But to act like one was as much of a foul as the other is ridiculous.

Must win for the Lakers. put the pressure back on the Mavs.

Lakers win a closer game than they would like.

LA- 104
Dallas- 99

Ahhh, my favorite thing in the world. An entirely theoretical discussion regarding where the "pressure" is at any given point in a series.

I would say there is not a lot of "pressure" on a team that is going to their home court having already secured an advantage.
Simplebay

i pointed out in another thread on this topic.

Barkley said it a couple weeks ago, and i agreed with him. When you split the two first games on the road, the pressure actually becomes on the home team to win game 3. the mavs will be in good shape if they win game 3.

coincidentally, New Orleans lost game 3 at home.

If the mavs lose this game they will lose the series. Most important game of the series by far.
Muy

I guarantee you if the Mavs lose 4 games to the Lakers they will in fact lose the series but will not have anymore pressure.
