Carlisle handled runs better. Handled bench and matchups better. And he had better plays out of timeouts. It was very impressive.

I'm a Spurs fan turned Mavs fan for this series. Great game. Agree with comments on Carlile's coaching.

Regarding Kobe's horrible turnover and close miss at the end of the game....it's not at all surprising. His reputation for being super cluth is largely based on perception. His "averageness" with late game shooting (actual shooting %) is well documented.

Kobe definately didn't pound the inside much, but those stats aren't reliable.

I can remember Kobe doing a pretty cool spin move early in game. He beat his defender and then went up to the rim. Marion had help defense and blocked his shot. It technically wasn't at the rim, but it was about 1 foot away.

Kobe shot a running floater about 5ft away on his 3rd shot of game. He also hit a pretty turn-around fadeaway jumper, on the right baseline. It wasn't more than 10-15 feet away.

Give some of the credit to Mavs defense. Haywood and Chandler are force down low. Kobe is great, but he can't play above the rim with those guys.

Jackson had some boneheaded assignments at the close of that game last night, and his play with 3 secs left was ridiculous.

Still, i think Carlisle has done a pretty fair job, honestly. There was a stint last night when things got close, and Carlisle ran out come obscure combo of JJ, Stevenson, Peja, Marion, and Heywood. They couldn't get into the offense at all, and they were chucking up bad shots late in the clock because they couldn't get anything going.

Carlisle drives be CRAZY when he does that.

Turned the game off at halftime and figured that the Lakers would win. I was definitely surprised when I woke up this morning and saw the score.

Are you talking about in the 4th quarter when Dirk went out for like 90 seconds? That lineup had me sweating, especially because LA still had either Odom/Gasol or Bynum/Gasol (might have been all 3) in the game and they were getting easy baskets from the height advantage.

Carlisle realized pretty quickly that lineup wasn't going to fly and sent the German back in to bail us out.

You would never have seen that resiliency before from Mavs.

Yep.

He was just trying to buy a couple extra seconds of rest before the official timeout, just like when a college coach takes out his star before the 8 or 4 minute mark.

I always root for a Texas team over any other team, even though guys like Muy are ridiculously annoying. Although Simplebay is equally as annoying, so I don't have a problem rooting for the Mavs in this series.
