Mavs have the Lakers playing in their head.

I do like the fact that Ron is the composed one.

Both team's allowed to be physical in first half, only one allowed to in the last 4 minutes.

good calls by the refs. Terry clearly hit odom on the arm. dirk clearly threw a HIGH elbow to artest's head.

stupid stupid plays by the mavs. terry and dirk can't shoot any better, and the mavs are still down 9.

Foul or not, Technical or not...that's not the issue. The issue is, and we all know it, is that stuff wouldn't be called on L.A. if the roles were reversed.

Need to watch LA pushing off on their offensive free throws.

Yep. This is exactly why the NBA is dying.

The first quarter was good entertainment, with both teams playing well. The superstars were making fantastic plays. It was fun to watch, even if you weren't a big fan of LA or Dallas.

Then the train goes off the tracks. The officials have decided that they weren't controlling the game. We see nonsense calls. And the inconsistency starts in foul calls. And just a terrible last 1 second from Mavs, but the refs were worse.

the refs were fine. jesus. if you were winning because you could box out, you wouldn't be complaining about the refs.

Agreed. Mavs are boxing out, Lakers allowed to push them in the back without the call. Terry's a thug? WTF is Gasol?

The Mavs put themselves in two stupid situations.

Terry made a stupid foul right in front of the ref.

Dirk threw a high elbow.

Why put the refs in a situation to make an easy call.

I guess simplebay knows more than the TNT guys. All say refs are favoring the home team and that last play on dirk should have been concurrent fouls at the least.

I'm not surprised about the refs.

But I was really impressed for first 18 minutes or so. It was great basketball from both teams. And the refs were calling balanced game with nice flow. I was going to chime in at halftime about great game they've called.

But that 1 second shows just how much influence they wield. The foul difference isn't noticeable. And there was an elbow. And morons will say "refs always punish jump shooting teams". But they gave the Lakers four undeserved points in last second.

That call is never made in the NBA on a made basket when neither player jumps.

If I were JJ Barea I'd be pissed I don't play against the Mavs. He would average 16 points in the paint a game. It's sickening to watch Derek Fisher stroll in the lane and lay it in without a contest.
