Mostly on Rockets threads? Even Hotard knows that isn't true.

It should also be noted that Deluxe is my bestest friend forever that anyone could have. He values my texags opinions more than his own and we hang out all the time cuz we are pallios.

I didn't think Stephen A Smith could be more annoying, but this offseason proved me wrong

Congrats, Rockets, on Lin. You paid a little too much, but he's a solid player and only makes your team better.

Edit: I'm a Mavs fan, if it wasn't clear, but root for Texas teams when Mavs are out.

They're going to have to wait and see what happens with Asik to see how many bad contracts we can take with Howard. They're basically just doing their due diligence until then. It's hard to see someone else offering them the draft picks, young talent, and cap relief the Rockets can without getting really creative and a lot of help.

quote:
Magic center Dwight Howard signaled that if he is traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, he would be prepared to sign a long-term extension after the 2012-13 NBA season, the basketball website RealGM.com reported Wednesday.

Mike and Mike in the Morning

RealGM.com's Jarrod Rudolph explains why Dwight Howard has had a change of heart about the Lakers and discusses Howard's decision to sign that opt-in agreement with the Magic.

Two sources confirmed to ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard that Howard is willing to re-sign long term with the Lakers if Orlando trades him there. Until recently, Howard had been steadfast in his desire to commit only to the Brooklyn Nets long term.

Aside from the "Chris Broussard" red flag, this has to be trouble for Houston.

MW03, it's not really a red flag because LA can't offer salary relief nor draft picks. Orlando doesn't really care if Dwight is willing to sign somewhere. They just care about what they are getting in return.

Yeah, but if LA is going to get D12 in a sign and trade, then you have to think they are sending Bynum and his one year remaining back to Orlando as part of any package to make the deal work. Would Houston be interested in Bynum for half the season next year and then try and try and convince him to stay and play with Lin?

and I meant "red flag" in the sense that Broussard has to have the worst sources in the game considering his batting average on rumors.

Yes, Houston would gladly accept Bynum, although they prefer Dwight. To this point, it appears Orlando does not want Bynum without assurances that he would re-sign. Also, Dwight's willingness to accept a contract from LA would/should drive up the price even more.

I think the fact that LA is looking to move Bynum is a red flag in and of itself. On the page, Bynum is a 24 year old 7 footer averaging 19 points a game, and he's got to be moved in a package to secure D12, who is certainly a better player, but not by leaps and bounds?

I guess if LA thinks Bynum is walking, it makes sense. I just don't see anyone walking away from LA unless they are shown the door. All of this leads me to believe Bynum has issues. Maybe it's the knee and achilles problems, or maybe it's mental. I just don't see the benefit to moving Bynum and pieces to get D12. I guess it all depends on what the deal looks like.

Bynum definitely has attitude problems and a history of injuries. He tried to shoot 3s last season.

Back to basketball, John Hollinger reminded us on Twitter today that the Rockets still have Courtney Lee's bird rights, even though they rescinded their QO. After their move with Dwight goes through, they could re-sign him it sounds like. That could be cool.

PG Lin, Douglas
SG Lee, Lamb? Richardson?
SF Parsons?, Morris?, Jones? Turkey-glue?
PF Patterson?, White?, Motiejunas?
C Howard, Asik

something like that?

Too bad the Rockets are trading Lee for JuJuan Johnson

Hotard, I completely forgot about that. Resigning Lee would be awesome. I think this may end up being a 3 way trade regardless since we won't have as much cap room as before. This is my prediction right now:

PG: Lin, Duhon, Douglas
SG: Lee, Lamb, J Richardson
SF: Morris
PF: G Davis, Motiejunas, White/Jones
C: Howard, Asik

We've got a bunch of guys just to work out salary numbers that they'll only keep if we have to in order to fill out a roster.

The depressing thing is that several of these guys would probably turn out to be solid role players and contributors on a team that had a superstar and solid second option. Without the superstar, the most value they have is to sweeten a potential trade. Its like Morey is trying to building the deepest bench in the league, but forgot to add any starters.

Remember when the Rockets needed a PF so badly that people thought Stromile Swift was an upgrade? At least we don't have to worry about that right now.

That might be the case... except there's a shot Stromile Swift would actually be an upgrade over the current stable of PF's on the roster.

Lots of power forwards... but with Scola gone which ones have much of a proven track record in the NBA?

I'm sick of the media telling where Howard wants to go.

If I'm Orlando - who the hell cares where he wants to go?

That's why I'm thinking the Rockets will be involved somehow - they have the assets to make the trade work - even if it involves them taking Bynum or Howard.

I just hope they don't get rid of Lamb or Royce White. I think Lamb will be the steal of the draft when its all said and done.
