This is the least excited I've been for basketball season in a long time. Can we just fast-forward to June and the inevitable Heat-Lakers NBA Finals?

I obviously hope I'm dead wrong, but right now I see the Mavs as middle of the pack at best in the West.

Dallas Mavericks road to the 8th seed. This season is already starting out terribly with the Delonte drama and Dirk injury. Dallas made some interesting moves in the off season but this team is nothing without Dirk.

Get used to it. That's how it will be all year long if they are struggling. It won't be what the other team is doing - it will be what the Lakers aren't doing. It's annoying, but that's just the way it is.

What's funny is the Lakers are shooting nearly 60% The Mavs are doing it by forcing TOs and getting offensive boards.

The Mavs energy and pace looks much better this year. Hopefully this will only improve as they continue to get used to each other.
