Tough loss. Great game though. Dirk definitely can't save this team this year. Hope he still has the fire for the next couple years. I could see him shutting it down after we missed on any kind impact players in free agency. Bet he's pretty tired of carrying the team.
This team is really weird. They looked terrible in the first half against the worst team in the League and then turned it on in the second half. Vince Carter was great, Dirk started looking like Dirk a little bit. Don't know if Collison or Roddy B have any clue how to run a half-court, get the ball to Dirk, kind of offense.
Is it just me or is V Carter a liability in the closing seconds of games. He's only looking to jack up 3's. That's fine if someone finds him wide open, but the ball has to go through Dirk, maybe Mayo first.
Troll, what? The Mavs aren't winning anything by the time he retires unless there's an unprecented trade + free agent signings in their favor. I want him to have one more shot and the Mavs get some draft picks in return.
The Mavs won't get any kind of real value for Dirk. Their best chance now is to hope the Lakers continue their meltdown and maybe get Howard in the offseason.
Maybe. The guy is a helluva talent though and Dirk doesn't have much time.
Otherwise, trade Dirk for some young talent and start rebuilding now.
Heck, I'd be okay with letting the young guys start (Crowder at the 3 and James at the 4) along with Mayo and Collison. Just let them run up and down the court with Dirk (hopefully he can keep up). No chance to make the playoffs but would at least be entertaining to watch an up tempo offense (like what Nash had at Dallas and Phoenix) plus it would give the youngsters some playing time.
As it is now, I don't know if I would go to a Mavs game even if you gave me tickets for free.
Just saw that the Rockets play the Clippers tonight so we get them the 2nd night in a back-to-back. We could be "only" 4 games out of the 8th spot after tomorrow.
