Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban would be willing to give Baylor women's star Brittney Griner the opportunity to prove she could play in the NBA.

Cuban said he would consider selecting Griner, a 6-foot-8 three-time All-American and Big 12 player of the year, in the second round of the NBA draft. If the Mavs don't draft her, Cuban said he would have "no problem whatsoever" inviting Griner to try out for a spot on Dallas' summer league team.

"If she is the best on the board, I will take her," Cuban said before the Mavs' Tuesday night game against the Los Angeles Lakers. "I've thought about it. I've thought about it already. Would I do it? Right now, I'd lean toward yes, just to see if she can do it. You never know unless you give somebody a chance, and it's not like the likelihood of any late-50s draft pick has a good chance of making it."

That's fine. I can live with that considering Dallas has the most heroic, historic and unprecedented playoff run in NBA history.

Just for the record i never said you were a heat fan. I just said i felt sorry for you because you apparently dont have a favorite team that you have always tooted for. It just mKes sports alot better if you do in my opinion. In that way you are like the guy at the casino...he obviously did not hVe a team either.
Agreed-ignore now in effect

So that's how I "showed my a**"? Really? Because I don't say "we" when a professional team wins/loses, etc? You guys are alot more sensitive than I thought...to your point, it's actually a much better experience than you living and dying with the mavs...I don't get sad or feel need to justify anything when a team loses, nor am I jumping around and buying sports memorabilia when a team wins...I get to enjoy Basketball, not mavs basketball...

Lol @ jumpstreet... Gay

I said all of that and that's what you come back with? I'm guessing you would know then? Boy, a lot of references to man love on this thread

Reading comprehension fail. I quoted how you showed your ass. You're comment about dismantling the championship teams...it was obvious you didn't realize Miami had dismantled theirs after their earlier title. My other comments had nothing to do with you showing your ass (not exactly sure what that phrase means anyways).

Not sure what you're referring to with the Heat dismantling a championship team after 2006. They finished first in their division the year after their championship (the same as the year before), while Dallas finished 3rd (finishing 2nd the year prior).

Not to mention the fact that the heat had the exact same starting 5 the year after the championship as they did when they won it (Shaq, Wade, Haslem, Posey and Jason Williams)...Dallas, well at least you have Financial Flexibility right?

Just because the heat didn't win it back to back doesn't mean they dismantled a championship team, but don't let a thing like fact ruin your arguement.

Womp womp.

Should've pulled a spurs and kept Dirk out the entire year and attempted to get a higher draft pick.

Dang, I was hoping the Mavs could follow up their most amazing greatest coolest best title run ever with another.

It was a good run. After so many years of mediocrity, the last 12 have been awesome. Here's to hoping we can revamp this summer and be competitive for the rest of Dirk's career.

Thank Goodness it's over...

ALl joking aside there's a significant list of free agents for the mavs to choose from, if cuban gets his head out of his arse and spends a little...and no I'm not referring to the Dwight Howard's and Chris Pauls of the world...get that out of ya'lls heads...but alot of second tier superstars are available, if it's done right...just saying...

Whatever they do, I just don't see them making another legitimate title run if Dirk is their best player. Sure, they can make the playoff, and even advance, with a healthy Dirk and a bunch of role players. But they really need to find a new #1 option, and let Dirk be an excellent #2.

Well, in all honesty, Dirk's can't be a super, super star anymore for a full 82 games. Looking at that list, you could bring in Paul Pierce and you're automatically better than this past year...

Do see a couple of interesting names on the FA list that was posted...

Nick Young- Can score in bunches, a bit of a headcase
Kevin Martin- shooter that can put up points
Andray Blatche- liked him in the few games I watched him play this year
J.J. Hickson- bigger, stronger, version of brandan wright
Al Jefferson- I remember being pissed when we got Chandler instead of Jefferson. Whoopsie =)

Do you think OJ Mayo takes the player option and/or returns?
mavsfan4ever
How long do you want to ignore this user?

I don't think he will take the option, although his horrible play the past two months makes it possible I guess. I have a feeling someone will really overpay for him, so he will opt out. but if he thinks he could have a great year next year I guess he could come back to try and get an even bigger contract than he will this year

OJ will definitely be an interesting player to deal with. If he could cut down his turnovers he could be a pretty good guy to have in the rotation.

Carlisles comments after the game tonight may make oj want to leave as fast as he can. Brutal comments but they were deserved.

What did Carlisle say?
Was it concerning Mayo's lack of effort if his shot isn't falling or about his ability to turn the ball over or take a bad shot in critical situations.

This thread is like deja vu concerning Mayo as a Grizzlie.

"He said he was shocked that mayo didn't show up today. If he was playing his former team he would want to stick it to them but that's just him. Maybe some people think differently. He needs people to show up. It's one thing to have a bad shooting night but its another to not even show up. There were times when he was just standing there not moving."

He talked about it for awhile. And reporters asked follow up questions about it. It sounded worse than it looks on paper.

He also then said some guys he knows will give max effort every night like dirk, carter, Marion, etc (implying mayo doesn't). He was shocked mayo didn't show up for a big game and that they have young guys sitting at the big boys table for the first time this year. Some people can handle it...(or something to that effect.

One of the follow up questions was would ok play the last game-just to show you how strong his comments seemed in the moment. Strong enough to make reporters wonder if he would be benched the last game.

OJ opting out of deal.

Not sure he's going to find a better offer.

At least he did the exit interview with his coach in Dallas.
