Not when Danny Crawford is ref. His games typically have low FTA totals.

My wife: why have her as a sideline reporter? She is too ugly for the guys to want to talk to and it doesn't sound like she knows much about basketball. Wy not give a super model a microphone and be done with it? Everyone would enjoy that.

You think we'll see TA on TP to start the next game?

Probably, but Allen spent a little bit of time guarding Parker tonight to no avail. And while Allen is a fantastic on ball defender, he doesn't have the kind of length that most of the guys that bother TP have.

Ouch. Today was a rough one. If Memphis can win game 2, I will be happy.

Parker looked really comfortable working against Allen. They could try Prince as a much longer defender, but that puts Conley on Green or Leonard, who are both a lot bigger. I think their best bet is to stick with Conley on Parker and do a better job on their rotations. I'm not sure what Memphis was doing, because they somehow managed to leave the drive, the jumper, and the kick all open. It looked like the Spurs were playing 5 on 4 all game. They took away the Spurs' low post game, but that's generally a last resort for the Spurs anyway; they'd much rather play the high pick and roll motion offense.

Sidebar: I think my favorite play was when Parker ran off a double screen with Splitter setting up farther out and Bonner setting up underneath Splitter. As Parker cleared the screen, Splitter rolled to the basket and Bonner popped opposite Parker. In the confusion the defense lost Bonner (and would have had a really tough time getting to him anyway because Splitter's roll walls off the defenders who should be shading to slow Parker) and he drained the WIDE open three. The Spurs ran that at the tail end of a fast break, it wasn't even a set play. Beautiful.

That was a flaming pile of crap.

I'm glad I watched that abortion recorded, instead of live, do I could fast forward half that game.

From the beginning, the stage looked too big for the Grizzlies.

Agree Iowa, for this game at least the Grizz looked like a team just happy to be there rather than a team trying to win and advance. Whereas the Spurs looked every bit like a team with loftier goals...embarrassing game for the Grizz.

Well, Grizzlies got destroyed in game 1 of the Clippers series. They've started down 0-1 in all the series now.

I just hope that Vinny takes over for Pop by game 3.

That's a huge difference in this situation. Pop is 100x the coach that Del Negro and Brooks are. Neither one of them seemed to make any kind of adjustment to what the Grizz did after game 1 of those series (well except for Del Negro trying to "go thug" in Game 6 of the Clippers series)

I don't expect that same kind of fortune from Popovich.

If the Spurs win game 2, Hollins will have plenty of time to alter his strategy given the stupidly long delay between Games 2 and 3.

What worries me most right know is Kawhi's knee issue. Seems to be bothering him again, and probably isn't gonna get much better in a few days. This'll be an issue for the rest of the playoffs.

Who was Leonard primarily guarding during the game? Unless he was on Conley, he should be able to take it fairly easy on defense.

Also the announcers said he's been having this knee issue for months now. If he's playing like this on months of a banged up knee I think he'll be fine for the rest of this series.

He was matched on Prince a few times. Prince did his slow dribble back down into a hook move that usually bounces off the front of the rim.

This is also known as a Taysholation, and is more frustrating than the Gaysholation move when Rudy would try to take it between 2-3 defenders.

Yesterday's game proved one thing to me: How well the Warriors were playing. San Antonio is not peaking, but they are playing pretty good. Offensively they can still improve their consistency, but I feel like they've been really tough on D for a few weeks now. Just seems like the Warriors, especially the 1st four games, were making tons of contested shots. And not just that, but every time SA started to get on a little roll, one of their average guys would knock down a 3 with a hand in his face.

They were a frustrating team to play, but gotta give them props. I think SA played a much easier team yesterday and it showed on the scoreboard. Memphis will adjust... but I think the Spurs are starting to heat up.

Went to truehoop to read about the game and the photo looked familiar. Check out DC's photo & the photo on article. Probably taken within a .5 second of each other.

That trip was such a dirty move. Should have received a T or flagrant at least.

And, if you check that link, the first play shown is the one from earlier that DC posted from his pic.

The Spurs are running an option pick and roll... but the interesting thing is that the picker AND the ball handler are reading the help defense to decide which variation to run. Whichever way the help sets up, the pick goes the other direction. The communication/teamwork on plays like that is crazy, because this is all happening in 2-3 seconds, and if they aren't working in unison it doesn't work at all.

Oh, and I really love that Bonner double-screen play, I think I mentioned it last night (although I said Parker instead of Manu).

That seems like a random comparison. Can someone summarize?
