I'm actually excited for this year and think we may be better than a lot of people think (assuming Dirk stays healthy). Vegas has our over/under at 43.5 wins. I definitely think we should exceed that mark. I'll predict 45-50 wins and the 6-7 seed, with a slight chance that we could get as high as the 5 seed if everything falls into place.

I have never been a Monta fan, but I am liking what I am hearing about him so far in the preseason. Maybe Carlisle has been able to convince him he needs to listen to him.

The main things that worry me are the center position (it could be ugly) and a shallow bench.

Dirk and Ellis 2 man game should be fun all year.

Monta!!!! The offense looked 10 times better than last year. Dirk will look like his old self this year now that he has some actual talent around him. Defense will probably be a struggle all year but at least we will be fun to watch, and with Jose and Monta I don't think we will have to worry about giving tons of games away with turnover after turnover in the last two minutes like last year.

Looks like there will be many 100+ point games this year. For both the Mavs and the opponent. Solid opening win versus a mediocre East team. You gotta like the offensive skill and ball movement out there though. Looks like good PG's will destroy the Mavs all year. Unfortunately there are a bunch of good PG's in the league these days.

Yea, defending guards is going to be a problem for us. I don't understand why Monta can't be a good defender. With how quick/fast he is it seems like he should be able to lock down players. Is it just effort with him?

Anyone know where I can listen to the mavs on the radio? Is there a good Internet stream?

I think they are on 103.3 espn radio here in town. I would think you'd be able to stream that using iheartradio or tunein app. If not, just google dallas mavs radio and I'm sure you can find something to stream

Unfortunately I'm not in DFW, and the NBA (as far as I can tell) doesn't stream for free. Tunein radio app won't work

LA went on a small run to make the game look closer, but the mavs pretty much spanked the lakers tonight

But, it sounds like if Dirk stays healthy, offense won't be a problem this year.

At this point in Dirk's career, Monta is exactly what he needs: a scorer who can get dribble penetration, and kick it out to Dirk for open shots.

Crowder has really worked on his 3pt shot.

Not a big Mekel fan... We are going to benefit greatly when Harris and/or Larkin gets back

I like that Calderon is actually a PG, and it's definitely an upgrade...but he hasn't impressed as much as I thought he would.

We also turn the ball over an insane amount.

It's been interesting to watch Ellis and Calderon play together. It seems like they are both players that need to dominate the ball to be effective

A few thoughts from this OKC game:

-Dirk needs to shoot more

-Crowder is starting the season on fire. If we can get half of what we're getting from him the rest of the season I'll be happy.

-Blair will make an awesome play or snag an impressive board... Then he will get stuffed or drop an easy pass out of bounds.

-This game has made me so mad. It's not just the turnovers... It's one thing if you have a turnover while trying to make a play. We've had a bunch of just dumb throw away turnovers.

-Surprised we didn't pull the starters when we went down 17 with the back to back this weekend.

I forgot about Devin Harris - he will be a nice defensive addition IIRC.
