I'm hearing that if the pick doesn't convey this year (there is no way that it will), then it converts into two second rounders. If that's true, this is a great deal for us. Thank you Colangelo for being a dumbass.
Noel is only 22. We will sign him long term, so his window will be large. Yea, we will have to hit on some draft picks, but getting a stud 22 year old defensive big man for two second round picks and Andersen is a no brainer.AggieSportsGuy said:
I agree if you look at it in isolation. But with our roster situation and forecast for the next few years I don't understand the strategy here. Are we planning to add pieces around Noel through free agency? The guys we have now aren't championship-contender quality. We better hit our draft pick out of the park.

Looking at this from the other side, why is it a good deal for Philly?
they got Bogut...DannyDuberstein said:
Yeah, I really don't get this deal from the 76ers perspective. Two #2's and Justin Anderson is just awful value for Noel.
As a short-term rental at a position that they are so deep in that they were ready to just throw away Noel. I think Bogut is mostly a throw-in/throw-away part of this deal.PatAg said:they got Bogut...DannyDuberstein said:

But why? We don't need to clear roster space, so why not keep him the rest of the season? Is it just a matter of the bridge being burned, so we may as well just cut him now as a "friendly" gesture so he can sign with whoever he wants? Does this mean we'll call someone up from the D League?PatAg said:
Looks like we are going to potentially buy out or waive Deron.
We'd have Barea, Yogi, and Harris for PG's without DeronNoahAg said:But why? We don't need to clear roster space, so why not keep him the rest of the season? So next year:
Rookie PG
Curry
Matthews
Barnes
Noel
With Dirk, Yogi, Barea, Powell and a modest new free agent off the bench?
With Carlisle, that's good enough for 7/8 seed potentiallly. Man it would be so epic if the ping pong balls bounced our way, and we were able to get Ball or Fultz. Maybe Dirk's good health won't last and we will get on a nice little losing streak.
You think a PF is a good choice in the draft? yikesDannyDuberstein said:
Carlisle and a rookie PG are not exactly a good mix. for the biggest impact in 2018, I would think PG from FA and PF from the draft is their best bet. But we'll see. Leaning on Yogi like this is unusual for him so maybe he's a new man.
