Modano has to be on there as well94chem said:
Danny, Dirk is right up there. I'd have to add Emmitt Smith, Roger Staubach, Pudge Rodriguez, Nolan Ryan, and Adrian Beltre. ...and this is where I get a little off the beaten path...gotta add Tatu to my all-time favorite DFW athletes.
Tatu is a good addition. The sidekicks absolutely defined my sports fandom as a youth in this city.94chem said:

Freaking love Tatu! As a kid, we went to a ton of Sidekicks games in 86-87. The crowds were just electric. The most exciting events ever in Reunion Arena.Quote:

Yea, it's not even close for me. Dirk is my #1 and then everyone else is a big step below him.DannyDuberstein said:
I was born and raised in Dallas, and given I was born in the early 70's, it seems odd that my favorite athlete wouldn't be a Cowboy. But it isn't. It's a German bball player. Without a doubt.
One of the greatest to play his sport. Overcame some absolutely devastating ends to seasons in 2006 and 2007 to eventually push his team to a title when no one expected it. Doesn't do endorsements. He's just cut from a different cloth than most athletes these days.
I have no doubt that Sidekicks games in the late 80's were awesome, and I wish I had gone to one- for some reason I never made it to one- but, the most exciting events ever in Reunion? I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that the Western Conference Finals in '88 against the Showtime Lakers were probably more exciting.NoahAg said:Freaking love Tatu! No argument here. I just didn't really start following the Mavs until 91-92. More of a nostalgia thing for me. 7 years old and going to see Tatu with my family (pre parents' divorce).Quote:

I played against his son in HS. His son was the only person I have ever seen to get a yellow card before the first kickoff.NoahAg said:Freaking love Tatu! As a kid, we went to a ton of Sidekicks games in 86-87. The crowds were just electric. The most exciting events ever in Reunion Arena.Quote:

Unbelievable. I don't think the Mavs have ever come out so far out in the positive with a player situation like they have with the decision between Parsons and (insert forward here).DANManman said:
Hate to hear, but we seem to have dodged a bullet with Parsons. Looks like he's out for the year (sound familiar?) with a meniscus tear, but in his left knee this time.
I pray he gets well and can eventually enjoy a season that doesn't at the hospital...
We could've gotten isiah thomas instead of parsons. Unbelievable.True Anomaly said:Unbelievable. I don't think the Mavs have ever come out so far out in the positive with a player situation like they have with the decision between Parsons and (insert forward here).DANManman said:
