Wright's shouldn't even be an intern in an NBA front office, and Pop and R.C. have given him the keys because of his skin color.
The league's getting bigger at every position and this dip**** keeps grabbing 6'5" and under guards.
And even if this pick works out, the reality is they could have traded down. We know Atlanta gave up Reddish and the 20 to move to 16.
Could have gotten a rotational SF and still grabbed Primo at 20 if they had their heart set on this kid.
Just abysmal management. Add it to everything else Wright has overseen and this clown is doing everything he can to destroy this team's future.
Look, just stop. You don't know that's why he got the job, and saying so because it feeds your anger doesn't make it any more true.
Brian Wright also made the Keldon pick which has worked out. NONE of us know what other teams are thinking. They very well could have known that Luka would be gone but Keldon had a higher chance of being available at 29. And I'm fairly certain RC was the main one who loved Luka. Same thing could have happened with Primo. There likely were deals to move down, but if they could only get to 20, and Primo was being looked at hard in the late teens, they got their guy. And atlanta didn't give up ***** Stop lying.
Brian Wright has likely shown enough people he deserved a shot at this job. You may not think so because you don't like his approach, but that doesn't make him an incompetent diversity hire. Every single GM makes questionable decisions. And we've seen some that looked questionable that turned out to not be. So give the kid and the off-season a chance, and take your racism/woke schtick elsewhere.
The Celtics are trading Tristan Thompson to Atlanta for Kris Dunn, and a 2023 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

Some rumors on the nba sub on reddit that there was some interest in Primo in the mid to late teens. Rumor is OKC wanted him at 16, and Indiana was interested also who picked after us.
Pure internet speculation though, but it would make sense that Primo shot up some teams' draft boards late and the mocks hadn't picked it up yet. While I still feel he's a reach at 12, as I said earlier, if he's your guy and you don't want to risk it, you take him. There is still plenty of risk in the other prospects at 12 that it's not like you passed on a top 3 guy for a project.
I'm on board for a high upside guy who could still grow. I'll be positive and wait to see how it shakes out.
Per a source: The San Antonio Spurs have extended a qualifying offer to Keita Bates-Diop. Bates-Diop will be a restricted free agent.

For context, I had Primo going at No. 20 to Atlanta in my final mock. Per sources, Primo was believed to be one of the players the Hawks were targeting in trade-up scenarios. I viewed him as a first-round lock, but the interest in him was much hotter than it seemed based on public mock drafts and whatever information had trickled out on the matter. Per sources, the Hornets (who opted for James Bouknight, after he slid) and Thunder (who could have taken Primo at No. 16 or 18) were also quite interested. The Spurs also loved Primo and were intent on landing him.
Looks like some teams were looking draft Primo within the top 20 of the draft: https://t.co/B10jKyANM3 pic.twitter.com/0WyVRLEqx6

Hearing that the Celtics have a list of "seven or eight" free agent targets, including Spurs point guard Patty Mills. ... Discussions between team and Evan Fournier are ongoing, but not close to resolution.

The San Antonio Spurs are interested in pursuing John Collins, Kelly Oubre, and Zach Collins in free agency, per @JakeLFischer.

We need guys that can score 15ppg without being able to hit 3s at a decent rate in Pop's offense.Quote:
I honestly don't understand the Oubre thing position wise.
As @BobbyMarks42 says, the most Bucks can offer Portis is the $5.9M exception.

Absolutely on my radar as backup option to John Collins. Limited role backing up Giannis, but put up 20/12 with 47% from 3 per 36min. Just 26yo. Would slot nicely next to Poetl.LawHall88 said:

UFA SF Kelly Oubre Jr. has interest in the #Spurs, with his camp believing he would be a good fit in San Antonio and would flourish under Pop and the developmental staff, a league source said.

A wrist injury ended Oubre’s 2020-21 season with Golden State early. Before the injury, he averaged 15.4 points and 6.0 rebounds over 55 games.

His agent, Torrel Harris, represents George Gervin.
I do like Portis as well. He was a beast in the playoffs.Ulrich said:
I like Portis, the Spurs need someone with an edge. But if they finish this off-season having parlayed Derozan and the number 12 into Primo and Portis, that'll be a pretty disappointing outcome.
I'm glad you do the numbers. I can't keep up!Guitarsoup said:
Atlanta has only added salary so far with the addition of Thompson and Delon Wright. Atl has 7mm going out (Dunn&Fernando) and 18.5mm coming in.
Atl is at 109 with the trades+1st rounder.
Collins will likely get 28mm starting. That's 137.3, with a luxury tax line of 136mm. Lou Williams is also a FA for them, and he was important to their playoff run.
Snell is a FA, but he's a vet min guy.
Their big problem is next summer. Thompson and Wright will be FAs. If they keep Collins, he will be at 30mm. Trae will get a 35mm rookie max. They will be at 120mm with 8 guys. (Trae, Capela, Gali, Reddish, Collins, Bogdan, Oke, the rookie they just drafted)
How many years are they willing to pay luxury tax?
Sources: The Chicago Bulls and Lauri Markkanen are open to a sign-and-trade deal. Keep an eye on the Minnesota Timberwolves. Multiple teams with cap space, including the San Antonio Spurs and OKC Thunder also have interest in Markkanen. More on @hoopshype. https://t.co/LYSPVYoj6x

Yea. The FA market looks like it's going to be pretty dry. I don't get the Lauri interest. Yes he can space the floor but 1) We would have to overpay him for what he does and 2) Why sign him if the Spurs have confidence in Luka? (Maybe they don't. I sure don't.)
The problem is as much of a black hole as Demar was on defense, he was still a playmaker and was our go to guy at the end of the games. So even if we sign some of these FAs to fill up our cap space and we lose DeMar, who's to say we get better? And if we do, it will only be incremental and I put our ceiling as another play-in candidate getting another late lottery draft pick.
Maybe I'm being shortsighted, but I think we should go after Simmons. And if not, just play our young guys heavy mins all season (hoping one of them turns into a playmaker), get a decent draft pick and approach FA next season with some cap space. Hopefully we don't give Walker a ridiculous extension. He doesn't deserve White/DJ money.
