They also traded Sean Gilmartin to the Twins for Ryan Doumit. Doumit's a pretty good bench bat that can play several positions, including catcher.
Gilmartin was awful at Gwinnett last season. He was drafted to be a Glavine clone, but he doesn't seem to have good enough control and doesn't have an out pitch. I remember when the Ags played FSU in the super regional, and they beat Gilmartin. He was less than impressive in that game. The Braves didn't trade him at peak value, as he was pretty highly thought of before 2013, but another season like last year and he would have had zero trade value. They have enough young starting pitchers in the organization to go ahead and trade a guy like this.
