The power in the lineup is definitely living up to expectations so far, and Freeman has been a beast.

Still lots of Ks but if we score 5-7 I can live with that. Need BJ to get going too.

How about this Gattis guy??? The Kurt Warner of MLB. Did anyone get to see his interview after the game? I know that the game was on Fox Sports South, so some might not have seen it. They interviewer asked him about all the beautiful places he'd seen after he quit baseball, listed some of them off, and Gattis says, "None of them beat Turner Field" or something like that.

I thought it was a great moment, the kind of thing the game is all about. Here's a link to the video of his homer, which happened while his dad was being interviewed live. Again, just a great moment:

Side note: I never knew he had a scholarship offer from us, but walked away. Also, the guy that caught his HR ball was a Former Student. Weird how that works out.

Its early.......but Uggla is batting .182 with an OBP of .400.

Gattis with three hits today as well.

What a game! The homers from the Upton brothers to win it in the 9th will be the first of many! So excited about the power this team brings to the plate. Great job by the bullpen to keep the game within reach after a rough start too.

As far as I know, second time ever for brothers to homer twice in the same inning, after Hank and Tommie Aaron.

He's still VERY young. I'm glad they didn't give him a choice. He looked wounded after that at bat.

Good, he'll be hungry after 15 days on the DL. Why mess around with a torso muscle strain during week one? Get that thing healthy and keep rippin' homers.

Freeman was off to a great start so this is definitely a buzz kill, but he's too good to take a chance with this early in the season. If BJ is hitting now too we can pick up the slack.

The hot start continues. Gattis hit a 2 run bomb to the Miami homerun sculpture tonight. Justin Upton just missed another homerun...hit the base of the fence in deep center. Would have been out of most parks. Medlen returned to his 2012 form.

8-0 shutout of the lowly Marlins today. Minor pitched well. Gattis with another HR.

Was checking the score in the top section of the concert we were at. When he hit the bomb, a bunch of us guys started high-fiving.

Great comeback win!! (With help from Zimmerman). Rough start for Julio but it was good to see him settle down his last 4 innings.

Serious question: what do we do with McCann when he gets healthy?

Gattis' production allows us to give McCann as much time as he needs to get healthy and not rush his rehab, but can either guy play 3rd or anything else once McCann returns?

He can play some first as well. There really is a lot of talent at pretty much every postion.

I bet he can learn to play just about anything besides short and second if they want him to play that bad haha. If he can spell Freeman, McCann, or an outfielder when they need days off, he will be doing a great job for the team. Other than that, I don't really see him replacing McCann or Freeman in the lineup. But there's plenty of season left to play, who knows! Love thebway the guy plays and his story.

Meanwhile, back in Miami...

I know interleague games are spread out all season this year, but did the number actually increase?

There are 20 interleague games this year, so I would assume 10 are played in AL parks with a DH. Regardless, having too many guys hitting well is never a problem.

Braves win 9-0 to complete sweep. Maholm still sitting with a 0.00 ERA after 3 starts. J Upton homered again. Chris Johnson also deserves a mention as he had 4 hits to bump his average to over .400 to start the year. BJ Upton with 3 hits. All these wins have come with him and Heyward not hitting well.
