Dodgers have lost plate discipline and are burning through the pen.

That is nuts. We should have blown them out 2 games in a row.Gigemags382 said:

Dodgers 9 runs on 9 hits
I know Astros fans have a bad taste from years past, but Josh Fields is definitely worth something; and you expect a guy having the kind of season he's had to get you through and get your offense at least three more at bats before you look to Cianfrani (had a fine season) and McCarthy.Quote:
Also, the bullpen management in game 2 absolutely cost them. They had nobody (worth anything) in extra innings. Some bad "luck" on his part that Jansen blew the save, but he had no contingency plan.

Astros have looked dominant in the past 12 innings or so. Tonight should have been a 10-3 win.
I was interested to see how two analytics-based managers would fare in the world series. Thus far, we've seen Roberts go through every player while we've seen Hinch ride with what got him here. For the Astros, I'm very happy he hasn't tried to overmanage the game. When we saw Liriano warming up, I was worried he'd pull his best long reliever for a lefty "specialist".CoachRTM said:
I'm an Astros fan...
Dave Roberts has to be the story of the series so far. The amount of turnover he has gone through in the last two games is insane. 2 of the three hitters in the ninth inning were Utley and Grandal, both substitutes who have not been playing well...... and he basically has no one to pinch hit for them.

Astros have looked dominant in the past 12 innings or so. Tonight should have been a 10-3 win. Hopefully the momentum continues into a game 4, because Wood isn't particularly great, and the Dodgers don't have Maeda to turn to to eat up innings.
I can just feel your immense hatred for all things Astros dripping through your posts the last few days.TXAggie2011 said:Perhaps.Quote:

But the guys the Dodgers chose bring from the bullpen with runners in scoring position seemed to always get an out.
That's news to me.BowSowy said:I can just feel your immense hatred for all things Astros dripping through your posts the last few days.TXAggie2011 said:Perhaps.Quote:

Well, they know I'm a Nationals fan so its never been much of a safe space.BowSowy said:
Didn't mean to trigger you, I'm so sorry. If you want, you can head back to your Rangers thread to regain your safe space.
One of the best parts of this post-season for me has been watching Stripling settling in so well into a major league role.Quote:
-Lastly, good for Ross Stripling having a decent outing. Scared the hell out of me, I thought Springer tagged him for a slam... Other than that, not a bad showing from the Aggie!

I'll root for Ross but I was hoping that he just gave up a grando to Springer. Wow was right!

They will probably keep using Morrow and Watson to bridge some of the gap.diehard03 said:
Jansen looks rough still. Trying to go Kershaw to him for another 6 out save might be dicey.
