On MLB radio they are talking about Burnes getting 9/250 now after Fried got 8/218.

Between the Dodgers throwing money around like crazy and the Soto deal, the entire contract/payroll structure is being reset. There is stupid money being tossed out there by a very limited number of teams and everyone else is going to end up taking it in the shorts.

I wont be shocked to see Framber and Tucker traded and a full rebuild

If y'all think you're getting Dominguez for rental, you're insane. The package will look like the Soto deal from last year.

It'll be Gill, Schmidt and someone like Ben Rice. You have no leverage; everyone knows you aren't going to resign him
Do you think the Yankees are the only team interested in Tucker? Now that would be insane. Multiple teams are interested and that's what we call "leverage".

Y'all don't have a RFer

Also not to mention if a team like the Yankees know they want to sign Tucker as a FA then there's value in having Tucker now and negotiating an extension before he becomes a FA.

Except it won't be centered around pitching. The Astros have Framber, Blanco, Javier (coming back midseason), Brown, Spaghetti, McCullers, Garcia, and France, plus guys like Gordon, Gusto, Ullola, and Blubaugh who could get their call-up this year.

To me, a "full rebuild" means trading more than just Tuck and Framber.

I don't think you have to get a bat. Tucker will make $15-20M this year. You could turn around and sign Walker or Santander with that money. Just get the best big league or near big league ready cost controlled pieces you can. Bigger problem is the team as I don't think they want to trade him to an AL rival.

In theory that's not far off but the Astros need bats more so than pitching.

Tucker and that short right field porch though... yikes.

Fair. You could do it for Gil, but then you'd need to make other moves to make it make sense.

Also, you can forget an extension. Boras is his agent and he typically takes his guys to FA unless there is an extreme overpay. Going to be awesome when the Mets out bid the Yankees again next year

Gill, Schmidt, Rice and Arias for Tucker

OR

Gills, Dominguez, Schmidt for Tucker with an extension.

Tucker and Judge will make for quite the black hole in the middle of that order come playoff time.

Quote:

The Astros are prioritizing major league-ready corner infielders and starting pitching if they move Tucker. In first baseman Matt Shaw (the Cubs' top prospect, according to MLB.com), third baseman Cam Smith and 2024 All-Star Isaac Paredes, Chicago has pieces that are attractive to Houston, which is bracing to lose third baseman Alex Bregman in free agency.

What makes the Yankees fascinating is that an agreement with Max Fried gives them seven potential starters for next season. The thought is that would motivate them to trade Marcus Stroman to get out of as much of his $18 million owed next year as possible and/or Nestor Cortes, who will be entering his walk year. And that might happen.

But because the top of the Yankee farm system is in a down cycle, they would have to get creative to acquire someone as talented as Tucker and Houston is said to be very interested in AL Rookie of the Year Luis Gil. It is possible that Gil and Ben Rice could front a package that at least gets the Yankees to the table.

I still think some combination of Bellinger, Suzuki, Parades, and Busch from Chicago is more interesting than a package built around Gil.

In all seriousness, I don't see the Yankees having enough sto get Tucker. They have traded a lot of pieces in the last couple of years.

1000%, especially if NY says Dominguez is off the table.

But on the flip side the Yankees seem desperate (I mean this in a good way) to recover from the Soto loss. You can probably squeeze them for an overpay.

I can definitely see NY as much more desperate than CHC or other teams. I wish Baltimore would publicly show interest in Tucker because that would put even more pressure on NY. Would love to work a deal for some of Baltimore's young talent. If I'm Dana (or Crane), I start with Dominguez when dealing with NY to "leverage" their desperation.

This is an interesting one.

Tucker for Jasson Domnguez(#1,#14overall) , Chase Hampton(#6), and Henry Lalane(#11)

This is an interesting one. It fills the need at 3B and opens up 30+ M in 2025. Crawford has a very bright future. If we have 30 M to blow we could land a Profar/Walker combo.
