He isn't even the best coach here of the last 20 years. Or probably even last 10 lol.

If our AD is waiting on the results of two games to make a multi-year multimillion dollar decision then we're already screwed.

Guys, Buzz is done here. Very likely this year if he finds a job.
That's a bold statement. Any knowledge to back this up? I could see him retiring but I don't think he leaves to coach elsewhere.

Where, exactly, are we lacking in spending on basketball?
Have you seen reed arena? Place is awful

Which is why we are racking up a buncha wins in Kyle.

We don't know which jobs are out there. There are certain programs that could open up still where it wouldn't even be a surprise to me (such as, say, Oklahoma)

He would probably drive or fly away, not walk.

Oh, we're screwed alright. But not for that reason.

One BCG team could shoot. The other two were bad on offense also.

People are remembering the 07 team which had one on the best offenses in the country.

But BCG's first 2 years were built on defense and running the shot clock down and letting Acie work his magic.

Not the point of the thread but yall two are misremembering. BCG's first team was actually pretty amazing shooting the ball, easily his worst defensive team .

14th nationally in FG% (3rd in B12 play)
21st in 3P% (2nd in B12 play)
23rd in Asst/game
#34 ORtg vs #96 DRtg

The 2006 team post-Antoine and before Acie went supernova was the only bad offense BCG turned out here.

I was just looking at KenPom ORtg ranking (and will confess I only looked at 05 and 06)
2005-34th
2006103rd
2007-7th

2025-42nd

So from an efficiency standpoint this team is closet to 05. I readily admit from an "eye test" perspective BCG's teams looked better than Buzz's. But a lot of posters act like Buzz's offense is awful. I agree it is "ugly" but it is OK from an efficiency perspective.

Porter Moser is being mentioned for the Villanova job.

Oklahoma has a better basketball program, but the university is in financial trouble (see report). I wish Buzz were more explicit about his long-term commitment to the program, but that is not his approach.

I think some "yellow flags" that I have observed this season are:

  • February 2025 comment about his assistant coaches being underpaid.
  • March 2025. Being very adamant about retiring Wade Taylor's jersey and giving some praise to the current administration but also highlighting the fact that too many administrations heard this request. It also feels like a "my last act before I leave" kind of gesture.
  • 2024-2025 season. Trying to highlight at every chance the fact that what he/the team has done this season has not been done in a long time or at all (e.g., beating a #1; being ranked all season; having 8 seniors). I don't think it is wrong to highlight accomplishments but it felt more like somebody who feels unrecognized.
  • 2024-2025 season. Highlighting too many times how great of environments are in other arenas such as Mizzou, Auburn, Miss. State but never really engaging much with the local fans.

Perhaps these "flags" are too weak but they are from a team's fan concern. I wish he can be or that we can find eventually our Matt Painter (Purdue) or our Tom Izzo.
