I think Maryland looks at Aggie success this year, and cuts ties with Buzz. Would not surprise me if they went after Bucky. Seems like we are their feeder school. At this point, I'm not really sure why it's such a desirable job. It's not like they are in ACC anymore and their resume is mediocre in the same timeline as BCG Aggie Basketball.

Big 10 basketball is decent, but let's be honest, is it really that much better than SEC bball?

Right now? Big 10 is much better than SEC, 5 of the top 11 are big 10 schools. Michigan, Purdue, Nebraska, Michigan state and Illinois is at #11

Looks like they used Scott Woodward's playbook for contract negotiations.

The Big Ten has two teams worse than Maryland in it. Together they make up a total of 3 that are worse than the SEC's worst team, Mississippi State.

Correct, they will not fire him this year.
But he will not be fine. Being this bad most of his good recruits will end up going to other schools. He will have to find portal players to even become decent.

Maryland doesn't have the $ to fire the Carpetbagger after year one…….but I can guarantee you he isn't getting charter buses just to take him to the airport!!!!

A Commentary:

There seems to a growing disconnect between the Maryland fan base and the Basketball program.

Not because of the losing, but because it's largely the Buzz Williamses' rather than the Maryland Terrapins. Not to mention, the entire roster is made up of 'paid for hire', one year rentals/mercenaries.

The latter isn't Buzz's or the players fault. It's the current college athletics NIL/Transfer Portal "pay for play" world we find ourselves living in.

But, I get the sense that alums, supporters and fans are becoming increasingly detached from the "Buzz Williams' traveling circus" persona that seems to be the program's new identity.

Frankly, Buzz + staff haven't done a very good job of assimilating into the culture or embracing the history of Maryland Basketball. It's "Buzz Ball" on the front of the uniform instead of Maryland.

That's fine if you winning. But, what is the connection we are supposed to embrace + defend, angst over, if you are losing? Where's the Maryland Pride?

We know you care about the team and your guys and your culture, but you'd be wise to start caring a little more about us and what Maryland Basketball has built and stands for.

I'd suggest dropping the preaching/sermons, analytical drivel and ego down a notch or two in the future, before you've lost Terp Nation, completely.

Read the room. Put that ridiculous "Buzz flex" video in a drawer and never post it again. It is infuriating to us 50+ yr Terp fans proud of our legendary basketball program to see that garbage when Buzz has secured our worst, most embarrassing, pitiful season in school history.

What's funny is I thought he'd successfully gotten them to not care about this season but now they're so bad they're pissed again. They like crossed some new barrier I didn't know existed.

KenPom is showing that the SEC is more balanced not that it is a stronger conference. I guess we can disagree on this, but when you have 5 teams ranked higher than any of the SEC teams, I think it is a stronger conference, even if it worst five teams are worse than the SEC's worse five teams. Right now, no one is fearing any of the SEC teams in the NCAA tournament

I will admit to also lurking on the MD basketball fan sites. One factor I hadn't considered is the success their former coach, Kevin Willard, is having at Villanova (15-5 and took UConn to overtime Saturday). Sort of the reverse of us getting enjoyment from Buzz's problems at MD. Rubbing salt in the wounds.

I was glad to see the back of Buzz, but why pick on him so much? His program started really slowly here too, but when he got it cranking the teams did pretty well. His style of play is painful to watch and doesn't translate to wins in the tournament, but Maryland HAD to have known that when they hired him.

He's getting picked on because he left us with no roster s d took with him whatever players still had eligibility, and this was the way he planned it all along;

To culminate with a senior laden team s d then bolt knowing he'd get fired after the following season had he stayed here

Also, he's getting picked on because Aggies finally saw that buzz is just all about buzz

People are really confident we'd have fired Buzz after this season? That seems incredibly unlikely to me.

To me what Buzz was after was the best financial situation he could get and that wasn't at A& M with our unwillingness to give a long term guaranteed extension. He got a good deal at Maryland and he gets paid whether his team sucks and he gets fired or not unless they can drum up some sort of "fired for cause" case. Maryland is in a bad spot with some similarities to us with Jimbo.

Maryland fans...

Atleast they don't have to worry about the incentives….
