It feels a bit odd seeing someone as old as Harrison Ford leaping between cars and doing all these stunts.
That was my first thought watching the trailers.

Some screencaps from IO9

Indy on Eldridge Street in Manhattan (not to be confused with Eldridge in W Houston)

Is this the titular Dial of Destiny on the overhead projector? ANd can you imagine the pension he must be drawing from that University at this point?

Indy brings a motorcycle to a plane fight.

Freaking insane how good this looks. I know they have hundreds of hours of footage to use, kinda like Sam Jackson in Captain Marvel, but holy cow.

Marcellus Wallace's briefcase.

Antonio Banderas? Is this a Indiana Jones / Ecks vs. Sever cross over?

Another flashback.

Don't touch that dial!

Is that a young Yasser Arafat in the shades and turban?

We were talking about this yesterday too. Realized that Hollywood is kind of on an old man action hero phase with this and The Old Man and even the newer John Wick movies. Was RED the first old people can be violent too film?

If Gran Torino counts, Eastwood did that at age 78 in 2008.

Nope. Maybe got in the face of some street punk, then approaching the house with all the gang bangers at the end.

Good call. Neeson was 59 when it released apparently. Logan was somewhat based on a comic called Old Man Logan and Jackman was in his 50s for that too.

Is Sallah talking about time travel at the beginning of the trailer? Is he trying to convince Indy to go with him to find a "time machine"?

I wonder if we go back and explore Indy's romance with young (but hopefully not too young) Marion Ravenwood.

Apparently a lot of click baity trolls have been going out and saying that Indy is gonna get erased from existence (lol) and that PWB will effectively replace him

Slight derail but somewhat related to the thread. Like everyone else, I'm looking forward to the next installment here. In that mode, I was browsing around the Roku channel yesterday and came across a documentary called Raiders. Figured I could put it on in the background while I was doing some work.

But damn, it was actually very interesting. It's about three kids that set out to make a scene-by-scene movie of Raiders of the Lost Ark. They didn't rewrite it or change anything...they just reproduced it with what they had...this was like 30 years ago. But it took them something like 7 summers to do it.

Anyway, the documentary takes you through all of this (and some personal drama stuff they went through) and what they updated in 2015. There are some really interesting aspects to it that I won't spoil here. I will say Eli Roth makes a fairly cool contribution to this doc.

Just a plug if there are any fans out there looking for a Indy fix/diversion.

Another fun observation from the trailer...

The final clip of Indy at the head of the table ducking down before being shot at....there's something about those particular bullet sound effects they choose that always makes me think of Indiana Jones films. Every Indy film has a shootout scene with that same variation. It's quintessential Indy, and takes me back instantly. Particularly Raiders.

I believe that is how Benjamin Linus both released the monster and moved the island.

I cannot wait for this.

Based on all that I've read on this movie and one big detail in that trailer, I'm going on record with a prediction that this movie will in fact include time travel. My reasoning is all that gray hair on Indy's head while dropping out of that Heinkel's bomb bay. WWII-era Indy does not have gray hair.

I'm also going to predict that many on this board will go on to state that the Indiana Jones movies ended at 3 by ignoring the existence of this one just like they do with Crystal Skull.

TC was the first person I ever saw voice this thought, but we should have been getting Indy movies just like we got James Bond movies. Once Ford didn't want to do it anymore after the first 3 (im guessing), could have recast him with someone that fits the roles needs

Agreed on the recasting. Problem was, Harrison Ford had never actually stepped away from the role. The road to The Crystal Skull was a long one, with lots of scripts and story ideas that were considered over a number of years before they settled on what became The Crystal Skull. Now that Ford has publicly stated The Dial of Destiny will be his last time as Indiana Jones, I would hope that the role is recast and we get more Indiana Jones movies.

With James Bond, it felt like "James Bond" was a code name and "007" a code number. Every time a new actor stepped in, I assumed the previous secret agent had retired and a new one had taken his place.

Until Daniel Craig's movies, which made it clear his name actually was James Bond and old plot lines and villains were revisited.

Indiana Jones was always very clearly a person and not an alias, so it would feel a little different to have had 4-5 different Indiana actors by now.

But I wouldn't complain as long as the movies were good
Thanks and gig'em

Love that movie. Gets better every time I see it or catch parts of it on TV.

Knock on wood, but combined with the lessons learned from Crystal Skull, I'd be shocked if the guy whose last two movies were Logan and Ford v Ferrari manages to screws this up.

If anything, the fact that Disney is premiering it publicly, at Caanes, a full SEVEN WEEKS before it hits theaters, shows how confident they are.
