May I inquire if Last of the Mohicans will be in one of the last few groups?

Eh. Rules said instrumental soundtracks, nothing said it had to be original.
I was told in the discussion that original work was required! Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World deserves to be in here!

There was one set of rules at the top of the first page. I don't know what else to tell you.

BttF is an easy one

I'm torn on 2001. While the score is iconic and perfectly compliments the film, none of it is originally composed for the movie. As such, I think I will go with Magnificent Seven.
Same.

I guess most everyone just assumed that it was original compositions. I guess it is too late to add Fantasia, Amadeus, Immortal Beloved . . .

I guess I could make a poll of the best uses of classical piece in film, not the entire score but the use. So for example "Ride of the Valkyries" from Apocalypse Now or "The Marriage of Figaro" from Shawshank Redemption.

OK, I'll probably do it if there seems to be enough interest. I'll start a thread when this poll gets closer to completion asking for nominations. I think it would work best if not only the piece of music was named but the scene it was used in. Everyone knows the scenes from 2001 or from Apocalypse Now and Shawshank but might not know how less popular films ingeniously incorporated classical pieces into the narrative.

That same piece (Rhapsody) was used in Somewhere in Time and I nominated it - I certainly did not assume it had to be original score only.

PS - I once correctly guessed Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini in a game of charades. My wife was acting it out - she signed the motion for a song, 6 words and 1st word sounds like she got me to say "rap" somehow and I just blurted out the answer. the other team was shocked.

BTTF and Braveheart have been tied almost the entire contest so if you haven't voted, try to do so in the next 3-4 hours before the poll closes.

So it's Group V day in a couple of hours. I tried to warn you in advance. The testosterone level in this place is about to go nuclear. You've been warned.

The Winner of Group S is Braveheart

The Winner of Group T is 2001: A Space Odyssey

The cutoff for the 64th seed jumps from 2.4% to 5.1%, and will continue to climb.

Dear Hans Zimmer, you deserve better than this. I blame the Universe or the Internet. Whichever is bigger.

Programming note
: 1 - Gladiator has some incredible tracks that also could have been included here, but the end-movie music and one of the signature pieces at the beginning both have lyrics in them, so they were scrapped in favor of the Might of Rome. Personally, I still think Gladiator has the teeth to be in the finals without them.

VOTE HERE

Group U

The Untouchables

How to Train Your Dragon

Titanic

Empire of the Sun

Group V

Gladiator

Crimson Tide

The Terminator

Dunkirk

I hate to vote against the Terminator score though.

It's faint, but the Russian choir is in the background.

Well that sucks. I don't really have time to change it. Sorry for the error.

Well, after seeing what happened with Home Alone, I decided to go the strategic route and vote for Terminator in the hopes that it makes the round of 64. (Though I do prefer Gladiator's score.)

Titanic was easy.

Have you ever watched it? Honestly, I think the music is incredible. "Test Drive" is one of my favorite tracks of the last 15 years.
