How to Train your Dragon has recorded one more vote than I thought it would.
Have you ever watched it? Honestly, I think the music is incredible. "Test Drive" is one of my favorite tracks of the last 15 years.
My girls wanted it turned off in the first 10 minutes, so I cannot say that I have. We watched Frozen for the 45,323rd time instead.

If you ever have the chance, it's worth giving another shot. It is one of the best non-Pixar animated films, IMO.

As it should. There are 5 others in those two groups that I consider better than Titanic.

So Saturday afternoon, Titanic was all ...

but weird things seem to happen on board that ship at night ...

and Sunday morning, The Untouchables was like...

Group U Winner: The Untouchables
Group V Winner: Gladiator

Top 4 seeds remained unchanged.

Remarkably all 8 of yesterday's entries had enough votes to make the current Field of 64, although at least one of them will drop out today.

The current #64 has 8.3% of the vote. 5 Groups to go!

Finally Morricone wins a group. Not a favorite of mine and I did not vote for it but I'm happy none the less..

Sorry for the delay! Hard to convince my wife I'm too busy to help around the house when she walks into my office and the two websites I have open are TexAgs and YouTube.

Group X is straight up vicious but has my favorite non-Star Wars soundtrack.

VOTE HERE!

Group W
Aliens

Return of the Jedi

POTC: Dead Man's Chest

Sunshine

Group X

The Two Towers

POTC: Curse of the Black Pearl

Friday Night Lights

Last of the Mohicans

A tournament first: The first 4 votes of Group X are for 4 different movies.

As the # of entries dwindled when I was doing the groups, I kept internally flinching at the thought of superpower matching up - TTT/POTC and ROTJ/Aliens are two of the worst. With three groups to go (12 entries) there are 2 absolute giants left, and 2 more that will be probably top 20 finishes.

Interested to see where the cutoff ends up happening. Some really fantastic scores are already on the wrong side of it. Plus every day that goes by, there's another soundtrack I come across on Spotify that I wish I had remembered - currently that list includes ID4, Iron Man, and The Rock.

Bruh you just gonna snub Last of the Mohicans like that.

So I'm going straight ticket Pirates.

Reasoning:

ROTJ is probably my "least favorite" of the SW scores 1-6, and Dead Man's Chest happens to have one my favorite POTC tracks in "Wheel of Fortune".

With TTT and Curse of the Black Pearl, after carefully weighing them, I realized it's probably a perfect tie in my mind for those two. It's easily my favorite POTC score (and "He's a Pirate" is a top 5 track imo), whereas TTT is again my "least favorite" of the LOTR scores. But considering the insane strength of LOTR's score, that comes out about even for me. (I was about to call for Pirates by a hair until The Last March of the Ents part hit on the second track and I immediately realized I couldn't put one ahead of the other.)

Plus, I doubt TTT needs my help to make it through.

Personally I love Elfman's Spider-Man score and completely forgot to nominate it.

Just watched the last hour of Field of Dreams. Probably my favorite non-Star wars movie, shoulda nominated it as well.

Crap. I forgot Edward Scissorhands, too.

Truth be told I just forgot about Elfman.

Workday morning bump . Here's where we stand.
Groups W and X close today around 11 or 12.

Groups Y and Z run today through tomorrow.
Group AA runs Tuesday-Wednesday. When that's done I'll seed the 64 highest and start the round of 64 on Wednesday afternoon which will run for 2 days (48 hours give or take).

Friday (8/28) starts the round of 32.

Monday (8/31) starts the round of 16 - at that point we'll switch to 24 hours for voting since we'll be down to just a few soundtracks that by then you've probably heard enough to vote in 1 day.

Tuesday (9/1 - and my 18-year TexAgs anniversary) round of 8

Wednesday (9/2) - round of 4

Thursday (9/3) - championship

Your Group W Champion: Return of the Jedi. With Jedi's performance, John Williams now has 10 of the top 24 seeds in the tournament. He's likely to add three more between today and tomorrow.

Your Group X Champion: Last of the Mohicans with a dominant performance in a loaded field, getting more votes than POTC and TTT combined.

The top 4 seeds remain the same, but that will change once, and at least twice with today's two penultimate groups.

The cutoff for the 64th seed is now 14.3% of the vote. There are some great films that are going to get the boot out of the tournament today.

Will have today's tracks up in the next 15-30 mins.

Finally had a chance to vote for Groups W and X, and voting is closed? Literally just finished listening. Did I just imagine we had 24 hours?

ETA: guess it doesn't matter anyway, given the margins. But when does the clock actually stop?

I think so too. And it pains me say so given my blood oath sworn in 1977 to George Lucas, but the main theme of Superman is the most iconic, triumphant piece of instrumental music in motion picture history.

The clock stops when I can make time between my job and my kids and everything else to stop it.
For this round it was after 22 hours and 9 minutes.

I am so sorry for your loss.

I heard a bunch of people outside my house speaking a foreign language so I walked outside to see what was going on. The cul-de-sac had become a de facto parking lot full of cars and a house about 4 away from mine on the other side of the cul-de-sac had its garage open and multiple Indian women inside serving food from a massive buffet line. The front door of the home was open and people were streaming in and out like ants and there was some fairly loud music playing. This was all in the middle of the afternoon on a weekday, mind you.

The entire street was also lined with cars on both sides. But the real capper was that there were cones in front of my driveway blocking it off and a sign in my front yard that read "VIP COMPLIMENTARY PARKING". There was one across the street in another yard as well. There were two guys who were doing said VIP complimentary parking for people attending the to-do at the other house.

They saw me and waved in a friendly manner until I picked up the first cone and threw it into the street. They started to walk rapidly toward me as I picked up the cone and kicked it with my robot leg into the street, then started running when I took their hand-painted sign and threw it as hard as I could at them.

This made them angry and they threatened to call the police. I said I can do you one better, there's a state trooper who lives on the other side of this street. I'll go get him and he can decide what to do. Suddenly, calling the police sounded like a bad idea to them. They said they had been hired for a private party - the reception for an Indian wedding - and didn't realize I was home. Which of course, is no justification for turning my street into a parking lot and putting **** in my yard.

They took their signs and cones and put them away. And said it was all just a misunderstanding. I came back in and was halfway through the tracks for that day when I heard a car in the driveway. Wondering why my wife was home 3 hours early I went out to find an Indian couple had parked their Lexus in my driveway and waved and the man said "It's OK! We will move it soon! We are just waiting for the attendant!"

I am not a violent person and have not been involved in fisticuffs in more than 20 years, but I told Mr. Lexus that if left his car there, I would smash it with a baseball bat. Then they got back in and left.

Epilogue: When my wife got home they had put the sign back up in the middle of the street right in front of our house. My wife had just gone back to work and had a terrible day. She took one look at what was going on and ran that sign right the **** over.
