Except that no one here has spoiled anything yet. Once more for the cheap seats, that there is a big death in a murder mystery series - even if specifying said death as occurring in episode five - is not a spoiler, especially in a thread devoted to said series. In a show like this, any character outside of Mare could be offed in any episode. This is the dumbest conversation ever. Again, in all of our bickering, no one has even said who dies! Ha, I don't even know what we're arguing about anymore.

We went over this already.

I never said there was directly. I was just addressing the question of wether there should be spoilers and I said I simply think that you should avoid them when answering a specific question when it is obvious they are not caught up. that doesn't mean the thread has to be free of spoilers

That said:

if i had not watched that episode and you told me there was a final scene to an episode that was like silence of the lambs in a female lead cop show about a guy kidnapping girls I would assume the woman cop ends up in the house of the bad guy who is all kinds of creepy and he pulls a gun and we have a tense scene as she goes in alone and manages to kill the perp despite being at a disadvantage.

I'd have little surprise then. But maybe that's just me.

Good lord.if the episode has been out a week and you haven't watched the episode yet, then you probably shouldn't be reading a thread that's discussing the show. I'm not sure why that's such a difficult concept to grasp. Not sure why the rest of us have to tip-toe around discussing that scene until we make sure that one particular poster has had a chance to watch the episode, whenever he/she decides to let us know that might be.

EDIT - I certainly never said that. I repeatedly said in response to that poster who is obviously not caught up I would avoid answering HIM with a spoiler. That has nothing to do with whether the thread as a whole needs to avoid spoilers. It does not. Just a courtesy as I said and I assume he was capable of only reading a direct response and was not reading the entire thread.

So now that we've beaten that dead horse.

Thoughts on John's mistress? She's a complete mystery woman, which seems odd given that everybody knows everybody in that small town. And Lois' comment in the previews that "I swear I didn't know".hmmmm.

Let's get back on track here......

I've been thinking about something regarding that final scene of ep 5.

We never saw that guy smoking those cigarettes. I know they were there but who is to say he was the smoker? We also never saw the face of the guy in the van just their sizes seemed similar. Again he owns the van but that doesn't mean it was him. We never saw him driving the van either. And for that matter we never saw him with the girls as the face was obscured. Why keep his face obscured if you are just going to reveal it was someone we don't know anyway?

Comparing to Silence of the Lambs... we saw BB kidnap that politicians daughter, we also saw him with the insects and sewing costumes for himself and of course talking to the girl.

I'm not saying he isn't involved of course he is. I guess I'm still sticking to my theory of 2 (or more) working together because of Erin's death and the idea that Erin would have been a kidnapped victim but she knew whoever met her, so they killed her.

I don't believe you introduce 2 (or 3) other kidnappings just to resolve them 70% of the way thru the series and not have them related.

Richard's absence in that episode bugs me.
Still suspicious of Billy, John and Lori too.
Dylan and Erin's friend are up to something too of course but almost being too obvious so I think it is a distraction.

The two rescued girls would have identified the dead man as their kidnapper as he did not wear a mask.

The actor was listed as "Van Driver" in the IMDB episode 4 cast list after it aired, then added as Wayne Potts to the episode 5 cast list some time this week. As soon as he opened the door I knew he was the suspect due to his ep 4 cast listing

Show threads are spoiler zone free-for-alls the second an episode airs. We've been doing it that way for years. Besides, I didn't even say the person's name.

For the record I posted the question. And I immediately left the thread. Just came back now that I'm caught up.

I fully expect people to talk about the show.

Spoiler? No such thing. If you haven't watched all the episodes don't read the thread. Simple.

That's true.

LOL. Looking too deeply for a connection I suppose.

Of course we have not seen that occur yet so.....

I knew it was him and I had not seen cast listings - it was just an instant creepy factor and the music which was covering up for any noise.

Kind of preparing myself to be let down by the ending. So many open storylines with only two episodes left. Feel like some will get untouched and feel like a waste. Hope I'm wrong! This show is great

It would not surprise me if Billy and John were part of his weekly poker crew that Katie talked about and that they knew he had kidnapped girls in his house.

Yeah. I thought about that at the time. But forgot about it.

My Chekhov's Gun radar went off - why introduce that unless it is going to have a payoff.

Bet we find out they played at that bar or whatever.

Hopefully tonight we get justice for the old, senile guy Mare assaulted in his own home. No justice, no peace

What the hell could that picture be of that shocks us?? The chief already knew it was Billy. So it's something else.

Seemed pretty clear through the storytelling that the relationship was actually with John? And he was the murderer

Huh? John did it. He's set Billy up. Billy was probably so drunk who knows what he remembers from that night. Or John has convinced him to take the fall since he's just the loser in the basement with no family to care for. Maybe he was there, but John did it

I feel pretty good about my Billy prediction - even though it now does not seem like it was him. Damn I was so pleased with myself when he confessed.

I'm betting the picture is Erin and John in some intimate situation.

The receipt for the pendant could easily be John's of course.

But how did John convince him, I guess if he was really drunk and John set him up somehow so even he believes he did it.

Hmmm... pretty good twist if so but it better be believable in how it happened.
Enrico Pallazzo

Pass out drunk. Wake up smeared with blood. Bro wakes you up and tells you "what did you do???" You make up some **** and convince him he was protecting you in some way, but no one will believe it so we gotta get rid of the body and cover it up.

Yeah....but wouldn't he question why he did that like if he wasn't the one having a relationship with her......

oh wait... the picture shows all three of them. Hmmmmmm.

You know come to think of it he looked almost surprised to see the weapon in his tackle box.

John also said to his dad that Billy had been drinking a lot. Part of the cover story.
And he told Lori he confessed but not to tell and had to know she would but that also helps implicate Billy.

So now... did Billy see the gun and decide to kill John or realize he was being set up then????

Damn. More questions but all plausible.

Bully was surprised when he saw the gun and is thinking he's about to get Of Mice and Men'd.

Also "the dick in your pants comment" was sneakily but clearly intended to be broader than just the one affair

I think relationship John, Billy murderer

could be although i think John told Lori that Erin was threatening Billy.

Now that could be more John story to implicate Billy and not be true. Maybe.

Enrico Pallazzo
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Of course he'd tell Lori that. But Billy Is a loser that lives in the basement. She was threatening John. He's projected everything on his patsy loser brother to get out of this.

Now did John convince him he murdered her, or has John manipulated him into taking the hit for it? Not sure but I think the former. They edited the confession conversation so much that who knows what that really was. I think Billy was in a similar state as Frank that night and John is using it to his advantage.
