The trailer above is two minutes in length, we're just not getting the first 30 seconds or so. Either way, curious to hear the differences as more people see it.

A full copy of the non-IMAX version...

Assuming another Hans Zimmer score.

It's actually Nolan's new go-to, Ludwig Goransson, who did his Tenet score, along with the scores for The Mandalorian, along with the Black Panther movies. And it already sounds like a classic.

(I'm assuming Zimmer is still busy with the Dune franchise.)

Bootleg version of the IMAX trailer is finally up, and it's definitely more intense. Less of a traditional teaser trailer and slightly more of a sizzle reel/presentation, more focused on the lead-up to the first detonation (with a lot more Matt Damon, too). Also, it seems as though the security hearing will be in black and white and the main story in color? I'm guessing the hearing is the framing device, and we continually flashback to the main story? Something along those lines? Either way, this looks incredible...

I still can't believe we get Nolan (Oppenheimer), Villeneuve (Dune: Part Two) and Fincher (The Killer), all in the same year. My three favorite filmmakers, probably even within six months each other. Not to mention Scorsese (Killers of the Flower Moon), Michael Mann (Ferrari), and Ridley Scott (Napoleon) too. I absolutely cannot wait for 2023.

Thanks for this post. All of those look really exciting.

Cannot wait for this one. I currently rank Nolan as the best director working today.

Good video of Ludwig from a few years ago about writing Redbone with Childish Gambino:

Wow, he really even looks like him….fantastic story and looks really good.

One thing i have heard from men who were there; atomic explosions are very colorful….obviously the trailer is just plain fiery.

Doesnt matter for the story, just curious if they go there.

No matter what i have high hopes. Thanks for the link

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory digitized a bunch of their old nuclear test footage and posted a lot of it on YouTube. You can tell they colorized and used some of it in the trailer.

Wow, 8 months out and I just saw an ad for it in MNF?
That's crazy.

Just saw it as well, and I caught two during the Sunday night game last night. They're going all out.

I think this heavy of marketing early on is a great sign.

That's crazy.
They've been doing this kind of thing for years. In August 1979 I went to a re-release of Star Wars and stayed through the ending credits, then was surprised that they had tacked on a preview for TESB at the end, almost a year before the sequel would premiere.

Yeah they'll do it in theaters a lot, but TV advertising is usually much more current outside of maybe a tester or 2

Exactly. We're talking about TV ads, and this is WAY early for a late July release to already be advertising on TV. For comparison, Nolan's late July releases usually don't start airing TV ads until May/June, during the NBA playoffs, after the final trailer drops, which is usually with the big, early May Marvel movie (which will be GOTG3 next year). That said, the ads this weekend have all been more for the new trailer than the movie itself, if that makes sense, telling audiences to go watch the full trailer online. Still, even that's pretty rare this far out.

I wish they put some type of emphasis on the crew of the Enola Gay rather than just on how to build an atomic weapon

and while it was certainly justified to drop the bomb on the Japanese

it would be a much better world if there was no such thing as nuclear fission.

between crazy viruses, artificial intelligence, and nuclear bombs in North Korea, Russia and Iran I doubt we make it to the 22nd century...

For the film 'Oppenheimer'?

They'd have to call the film 'Gay' and this thread would melt-down.

Independence Day had a big TV ad during the Super Bowl in 96, movie didn't come out until July, so it has been done.

I admit I laughed.

Would love to see either this movie have some focus on the actual bombing mission, or a stand-alone movie about it. I do, however, seem to recall a TV movie being made back in maybe 1980 that for some reason I was not able to watch at the time.

Edit - not bad for my memory here. Enola Gay: The Men, the Mission, the Atomic Bomb (1980)

I like how he brought space in to this movie. Also like how the you could hear a Geiger counter when the date came across the screen.

Who was talking? I assumed it is supposed to beboppenheimer but it didn't sound like Cillian Murphy.
TCTTS
How long do you want to ignore this user?

It's definitely Cillian Murphy's voice over through at least 1:22, since we literally see him saying the monologue at the 48 second mark. It's just his American Oppenheimer accent. And I'm almost positive that's him saying the drawn out "Is anyone ever going to tell the truth about what's happening here?" after 1:22, I just don't know for sure.

Again, that's February, not December. And yeah, Super Bowl spots for the big summer movies have been common practice for decades now.

It's been covered, rewatch Pearl Harbor, the entire damn thing, all the way to the end, then report back.
