We get it, dude.

Never mind the fact that just a few days ago you were all over this thread panicking about how woke the movie might be.

Meanwhile, in the Barbie thread, you can't help but make sure we all know the second half is a "feminist lecture," even though you haven't seen that movie for yourself either.

It must be so incredibly exhausting seeing the world through whatever political lens you're constantly applying to all this crap.

There was never panic, but hoped it wouldn't be revisionist. Seeing it tonight, but haven't read anything along those lines yet in reviews. People can makes posts aside from copy-pasting Twitter and pumping hype.

You're more than welcome to post whatever the hell you want. Just like I'm more than welcome to point out how weird it is that your only posts related to both movies display an obsession with how political they are/aren't.

That's not true in the case of Oppenheimer. I'm a fan of Nolan and have been interested in it from the get-go. I was on the fence about Barbie until I read reviews. But yeah, one of the very few things you and I agree on is it's great that Oppenheimer is doing well and will probably benefit from word of mouth. Stoked for tonight.

I promise you, and some others on here, would get it if the shoe was on the other foot. I promise you.

We are just tired of political statements/narratives being pushed in so many movies and shows these days. Seems like it wasn't always like that.

Imagine if your political worldview was almost never represented in film and on top of that, more often than not, it was demonized or criticized. And you had to put up with routine unnecessary conservative messages and innuendo.

You couldn't even stand that "lunatic" Tim Ballard has diff views than you, or whatever.

A) No one's forcing you to watch these movies.

B) Only a small fraction of these movies' "worldviews" are ever as bad or pronounced as you guys make them out to be. More than anything, it's a bunch of sky-is-falling nonsense.

C) For the 400th time, I wasn't complaining about the Sound of Freedom itself, I was pointing out the actions of the people promoting it, which is a completely different conversation. If you want to find clips of the Oppenheimer filmmakers or the Barbie filmmakers pushing political agendas to promote their movies, go right ahead, and we can have those conversations in a separate thread.

Do you typically like Nolan movies or other dramas like this?

I will add in typical Nolan fashion the film isn't close to how I thought it would be presented, yet I found myself so impressed by the end.

What an intense movie. Hats off to Nolan and his team, that was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

You see it in town, Bunk? If so where if you don't mind disclosing. Looking at options between Cinemark, Premiere, and Star Cinema (I assume the latter would be the weakest but it's also highly convenient for me). Just want the best experience.

They're in the minority, but some critics and regular folks DID find it bloated. Even though it is spectacular and really powerful I could definitely see why some people will walk away wishing Nolan had opted for the small/deep version rather than the broad/shallow one. I think a lot of Nolan's movies are better on repeated viewings because his narrative style can be jolting or overwhelming the first time around. Interstellar and Dunkirk both grew on me from first to second viewing.

What a movie. 30+ years post Cold War, I think most people don't appreciate the true horror of a nuclear weapon. It is used as an action movie trope. We actually dropped these things less than 100 years ago. It looked like we were on the path to dropping bigger ones.

This movie will remind a lot of people. It does a great job conveying that dread.

Plus it is a cinema fan's movie. Just great filmmaking.

so for the Hollywood guys on here-

is it really worth it to see Oppenheimer in the IMAX?

hopefully it makes people wake the @#$@# up and realize Iran is building atomic weapons larger than Fat Boy and Little Man.

and they have the ICBMs to put them on.
