Christopher Nolan's #Oppenheimer is exquisite. An engaging, ticking clock that plays like a hybrid thriller and historical biopic. Performances across the board are superb. For a three-hour movie, it's masterfully paced and makes you hang on every word. Just outstanding.

A full-tilt biopic unlike any before it, Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer is as stunning as it is terrifying. https://t.co/ElkZYqT6Nv pic.twitter.com/BcEQmd9vBE

Yep, I said.
Thanks, nothing new to see there, he said.
I think he came out ahead in that conversation.
I’ve never seen a theater as full as Oppenheimer 70mm IMAX. They all look like this for days. pic.twitter.com/mHmQOZ6ITr

On a somewhat smaller scale boat sinking, I remember walking out of my parents house to see The Perfect Storm and my mom goes "what a sad story, I can't believe they all died". Since I didn't have any clue about the real story at that point, I was pretty irritated. We still joke about that occasionally.
Cinemark 16 in Dallas is the same way, but longer. It will be August if I want to see it in 70mm with a good seat.Brian Earl Spilner said:

One of the largest IMAX theaters in the world.
This is one of the things I most miss from living in New York. Saw Interstellar in this theater, amazing experience.

OPPENHEIMER is unlike any film you've ever seen. The direction, editing and music seem to be in permanent fusion, immersing us in the mind of J. Robert Oppenheimer. A pure sensory experience that makes it the Nolan film with the strongest identity.

Upset I'm going to have to go dark on this thread for a week. But that's half the fun, watching the movie and then coming back to hear Texags reactions...
OPPENHEIMER IMAX70MM SHOWINGS WILL NOT HAVE TRAILERS.

Due to the size of the print maxing out the platter size, the movie will start promptly at showtime.
Arrive not just on time, but early!
(meant to tweet this earlier in the week but totally forgot ugh)

Where's the other one? And what's the difference between a not "true" one and a "true" one?Malachi Constant said:double aught said:Why the quote marks on "true"? Something wrong with that theater?Malachi Constant said:

Nothing wrong. It is the legit 70mm imax projector. One of only 2 in Texas.
I heard they've got him in there, but they just reused the footage from The Dark Night of him saying, "Some men just want to watch the world burn."TomHagensWife said:

Using quotes on "true" wasn't appropriate. It is a literal 70mm IMAX screen - there is one in Dallas and one in San Antonio._mpaul said:Where's the other one? Only seventeen theaters in the United States are screening Oppenheimer in 70mm IMAX print. Two of them are in Texas: the AMC RiverCenter in San Antonio and the Cinemark XD and IMAX in Dallas. Other IMAX theaters in Texas, including the state's largest, the 84-foot screen at the Texas Spirit Theater at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin, project their films digitally.
Yeah, I'm in SA and was thinking about heading to see it at the IMAX. Didn't know if that wasn't a "true" IMAX for some reason.Malachi Constant said:Using quotes on "true" wasn't appropriate. Using this site: https://www.oppenheimermovie.com/tickets/ you can find all the different formats available anywhere in the USA. Use the filter in the very top right of the screen to choose which type of projection.https://www.texasmonthly.com/arts-entertainment/how-to-see-oppenheimer-in-texas/Quote:

When I go to that tickets site, all I see are theaters in Kansas and Oklahoma with no discernable way to search by ZIP. Clearly I'm doing something wrong?Malachi Constant said:Using quotes on "true" wasn't appropriate.
