This would have been the opportunity to do that IMO, so no - Thor ain't going anywhere for a while.

Thor was always an airhead!!! he was always the jock bro. loki is the clever one and he's the dummy with a heart of gold. This was a return to his actual character.

I think my favorite thing about this movie is that he felt the most authentically Thor. The dumbest thing about Ragnarok was that he was suddenly super smart and witty and it wasn't the same character as the rest of the movies.

Good Lord, everything about this post is wrong, lol.

I loved that. Had a great time. Jane was awesome amd a badass and even took on some of og thor dumb and reckless traits. Bale was suitably amazing and enjoyed thor imparting the abilities of thor into the children. The final scene with Love and Thunder was really touching

Holy **** this movie sucked. Far worse than Ragnarok (which i also thought sucked). The only saving grace was Bale's acting and the GNR soundtrack. More Disney forced gayness that didn't need to be involved just for another turd in the punch bowl.
dang dude….everyone knows my thoughts on Ragnarok and even I wouldn't go that far.

The Jane + cancer stuff actually worked for me because I thought that they were gonna chicken out and have some twist of, "oooooooooo the magic of Mjinor is so awesome it cured your cancer" or some crap…..but nope…..Jane Fonda is dead and in Valhalla….

The kids getting to share Thors power I thought was actually pretty cool and as far as it being a deux-ex-Mach-whatever I feel you could make the argument that since these were "gods kids" is what made it possible….

I agree with the posters who've commented on that the GOTG scenes seemed choppy and that Gorr definitely need more time showing us he's evil killing off some other gods….

And I gotta say….Russel Crowe was annoying as Zeus….not sure what he was going for with that accent but dang that was distracting….

The ending was a really nice wrap of it all with Love & Thunder and Gorr choosing to wish his daughter back alive was a good way to wrap it up….just would've meant a lot more if we'd seen him go through more suffering and evil to really get caught up in his characters change at the end…

And yes the humor was forced a lot of times….the scene where Valkyrie is chatting with Jodie Foster with the different weapons she's bringing and she shows that her "hand grenade" is a music player….man….it was very clear that they let that scene play on due to expecting the audience to laugh and not a peep in my theatre….

Darcy's appearance seemed to "pause for audience reaction" and my theater was silent. But I'm glad they were able to fit her and Selvig in in a way that felt natural.

Thor L&T seems like the bridge between 1, 2 and 3. Makes 2 suck a little less since Jane matters, and the suddenness of their split in 3 a little less jarring.

Ragnarok is a top 3 Mcu for me … but I pretty much agree with all these comments on L&T

My theater cheered when she showed up and I felt immediate embarrassment for even being there. I don't dislike the character, but it was almost like there was a sign above the screen that lit up, saying "Cheer Marvel Sheep!" and everyone did just that. It's usually super fun when the crowd's super into it, but every so often it can feel like robots cheering because they're programmed to.

Some of this could be fixed with casting. Hopefully they can at least consult showrunners from the tv side.

They've majorly improved the Diversity of the MCU.

Careful, though, in the other thread I dare made the mistake of posting a similar tweet calling out Big Studio/Marvel, as it relates to overworked VFX artists, and a number of nut jobs came out of the woodwork, as if I had just delivered some kind of anti-capitalism manifesto.

How was it cheap in regards to anything budget/production related? I could get fast food as in fun but unhealthy/unfulfilling but I thought it looked pretty great throughout.

I listened to most of that ep as well, before I saw the movie, and I was honestly expecting some kind of ground-breaking look/tech I had never seen before, based on how much they fawned over that sequence. Joanna literally compared the new technology to the introduction of bullet time in The Matrix. So I kept waiting for some super cool effect to show up during that sequence, yet it never did. It was just... a flight in black and white. Yes, it looked nice, and I appreciate the effort, but I did not at all get what Joanna and Sean were going on about.

Saw it this afternoon with the rib. Had zero expectations and read nothing about it beforehand. Not the best Thor effort. Still fun, though. Crowe as Zeus was hilarious, especially the steps scene.

I largely agree. No Way Home was nails. Black Widow and Dr Strange: MoM were both middle of the road but still a fun ride. I didn't really care for the Disney + Shows all that much, save for Loki. I have not seen Moon Knight. Eternals was dookie. Shang Chi was fun but also kind of forgettable.

For example, terminally ill dude could get any wish in the universe, so he decides to die and let his mortal enemy to raise his undead daughter. This not make sense within the context of the film.
I don't know, I thought the movie set up that decision well. Sure, you might think that after all his time butchering gods (which we saw little of, unfortunately), his main motivation would switch to killing other gods. But I don't think it's a plot hole to say that his mind was changed after he was released from the corruption of the sword.

Moreover, this option has been available since IW. At any point in time, Thor could have used Stormbreaker to undo the Snap or solve a multitude of other problems.
I assume you're talking about the fact that Stormbreaker could open a portal directly to Eternity? I think it's pretty clear that no one knew that until Portman saw Gorr's drawings.

I'm not trying to defend the movie too much. I thought it was fine just like almost everything put out in Phase 4 thus far. But I don't think your two examples were plot holes.

Also, I'll agree that the GOTG scenes felt choppy. Sure, it makes sense that Thor went back to be with those folks after Endgame, but I think they should've handled them separating a little better. Or just featured the GOTG scenes less early on.

And I will still say that they need to get going with connecting these movies and shows together towards a bigger picture. It's fine if they want to give everyone a chance to catch their breath after the conclusion of Endgame. And I'm totally fine with standalone stories. But it's now been over 3 years since Endgame, and most of these standalone stories are just okay. Either do the standalones and make them good in their own right, or start connecting things together to help prop up movies/shows that are kind of weak on their own.

The *primary* purpose of the MCU is to make money. That's… literally the only reason it exists. What else are these movies if not "money grabs"? And how is this one any different in its intention than, say, a third Captain America movie?

After seeing that trailer, I didn't know if I was supposed to be high to watch that, I didn't know if it was meant to be campy, didn't know if it was meant to be taken seriously. It was all over the place. Completely uninterested

TexAgs never fails when I need an eye-rolling belly laugh.

But I do take a bit of an exception to this, that I've seen posted twice now:
Quote:

gay-bashing religious zealots

Perhaps it's just me, but in my circle of Christian acquaintances and friends, I've seen no gay bashing of any kind. Exactly who are you referring to here? Religious could be anyone, even those who deny the existence of God, ie, government is their religion. Are you talking about those who shall not be named who throw gays from buildings?

I am not gay. I do not care for that lifestyle. I do find it to be forced into just about everything these days. It's in literally every thing that Disney produces. It's also in sports. Sitcoms have been doing this for a while now. Yes, I could turn off the media for that, but for the snippet here or there all I'd really be doing is denying myself the entertainment that I have always enjoyed. I don't complain much about it on here, if any, but I will defend my views and my religious beliefs. I don't see movies that are largely about this lifestyle, but up until recently, I also didn't expect to find it put into properties like Star Wars or Marvel (and spare me the "but it's been in the comics! I'm not a comics reader).

I will continue to post on both Politics and Entertainment. Why? Because it's a free country, and it is possible to have opinions on both topics.

I think some of the disconnect here stems from the assertion that the "gay agenda" is being forced into entertainment media. Simply depicting gay characters as a matter of course isn't forcing, in my opinion. Forcing would be some sort of overt attempt to portray being gay as superior to heterosexuality as opposed to being just one facet of someone's life.

I'm a Christian, and I personally know several gay couples. I've never really clocked it, but I'd guess that I interact with people whom I know to be gay on an almost daily basis. And my child does too - she's had classmates with same-sex parents since kindergarten. She's well aware that gay people exist in the world. So seeing two male rock creatures have a baby, or two fictional animated female characters kiss isn't going to make her "decide" to be gay.

Anyway, there are lots of things people do that I think are wrong (being gay isn't one of them). But I'm not worried that encountering those things in media or in life will make my child go against everything I've taught her. I have more faith in her and in my own parenting than that.

I wasn't alive then, but I bet there are similar parallels to the representation of homosexuallity on tv and how minorities were represented many years ago. What started out as nothing but stereotypes and comic relief, eventually led to black tv shows and then to normalization. Call it grooming or whatever, but I'm sure there were a lot of parents in the 60s and 70s that hated their kids watching black people on tv act like normal everyday people instead of just some stupid caricature meant to entertain white people. If message boards were around then, I'm sure you would hear a lot of the same complaints about liberal Hollywood and their "black agenda". I know its not an apples to apples comparison, but I think people are going to have to learn to accept it or just stop watching tv and movies all together. We've gone from the stereotype phase, to the gay people having their own gay shows phase and now moving into the normalization phase. In 10 years, it really will be not big deal to most people.
