So as far as the movie itself, which I'm assuming was discussed before all this random non sequitur, it was just a lot of fun.

Bale made for a great villain, soundtrack was awesome, humor tried a bit too hard in spots but landed really well in others. I liked the motivation for Jane becoming Thor and thought Portman did a great job, and the end credit cameo was fantastic. Also loved the ending, that's going to make for some great father/daughter Halloween costumes.

For me one of the more entertaining Marvel films though not necessarily one of the better ones, if that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense. I am not gonna go out there and power rank it and put it in the top 5, but dammit I had fun for 2 hours

And I thought I knew all the ways this movie was disappointing, but damnit if that video didn't bring up a dozen more.

Just see this today with my kids. I enjoyed it. Good way to spend a couple hours with them. Kids are excited to go with my wife next week and have her watch it for the first time.

Just got out. Matt Damon and Melissa McCarthy were total surprises for us. Loved it. Will read others thoughts later to see how everyone's tearing it apart, lol

Alright, now that I've slept on it and read most of the thread, just some random thoughts:

- im glad someone pointed out the Eternity mechanics and that it was only one wish for whoever got there first. After the movie I admitted to my girlfriend it was really bothering me that Thor, Jane, and undead child didn't make wishes too, lol. Eternity still bugs me for the reasons others said, but yeah - why didn't he just wish for unlimited wishes? Lol. Okay, had to definitely just accept that for what it was.

- I'm a sucker for anything Christian Bale does mostly so I thought he was awesome. Although I do agree with many here it would've been cool to have him stick around longer or more back story.

- Matt Damon, other Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy … I hadn't laughed that hard in awhile.

- Agree Guardians we're a bit half baked, but it was still cool seeing them on screen again. Cannot wait for GOTG3. My gf thought Thor was gonna somehow tell Star Lord about Eternity and he'd wish Gamora back near the end. Obviously didn't happen with the mechanics above

- I thought the goats were funny. My theatre seemed to agree. Stupid yea. Funny also yea.

- shadow realm scene was super cool

- Liked Russel Crowes Zeus - but not sure how I feel about him living and the introduction of Hercules. Really all those gods in general. So, what, we're none of them affected by the Blip? Did they even know about it? Regardless, the scene itself was fun and Thor throwing the lightning bolt through Zeus was really cool.

- thought the Foster arc was a nice completion. Was not expecting the cancer storyline at all. Screw some of y'all - I love Natalie Portman.

- *screaming goat noises*

Saw this last night. I'm really glad I had read some of the overall comments on TexAgs first so that my expectations were way lower than they had been.

It still thoroughly disappointed. My wife and I were discussing with each other as we stayed thru to the final end credit scene, watching the hundreds and hundreds of names involved in making that movie, how crazy it is to have that many resources put into a movie with an existing great character (characters if you want to include the GOTG) and have it fall so flat.

I don't know how much it is that maybe I'm just over Marvel movies, but I didn't think I was before this one. It just seemed so mailed in.

This is a huge black mark against Watiti as a film maker. He thoroughly botched that movie. But at least he made history by shoehorning in two GLBT references into one line of dialogue in a major movie. I'm sure that will get him praise in some corners.

The only redeeming part was the concept of the bad guy not choosing his vengeance and Thor raising his daughter. Nice little twist in an otherwise bleh movie.

To sum it up in one word I'd say "tired." They dressed it up in costumes and effects, and then buried it in a non-stop attempt at humor, but the whole thing just seemed tired. Never has a supposedly massive threat to life seemed so inconsequential, which kinda reflects how they handled Jane's cancer as well.

I thought for sure we were going to get the best Marvel movie ever when GOTG and Thor set out for adventure at the end of (was it Endgame?). Instead we got this mess of a movie which had a pointless 5 mins of GOTG in it.

The more I think about it the more I feel like the biggest flaw of the movie is that they brought Portman back. I think there's enough there from the first two films that prove that Hemsworth and Portman just don't mix. Had they left her storyline out they could have had more Bale/Gorr in the movie and he was the best thing there. If you remove Portman and her entire storyline, but build up Gorr that much more it could be a significantly improved film.

I rewatched Ragnarok last night, and damn that movie is just so good. I do think that the fact that there's no Loki hurts it way more than Marvel anticipated. Hiddleston is just great. The moment when the champion is revealed as The Hulk and his immediate response is "I have to get off this planet." It's just perfect. If they felt they had to add Portman to make up for the lack of Loki it was a swing and a huge miss. And also, the run time isn't that much longer than Love & Thunder. I'm sure they'll do another Thor film, and if I could give them any advice it's to figure out how to bring back Hiddleston. Hopefully there's a path back for him in Loki season 2.

Just watched it…. The first half of the movie was borderline awful with forced humor until Thor returned to his normal personality. Ending got better.

Thus far besides Spider-Man all of the phase 4 stuff has been underwhelming, but Maybe my post IW and End Game bias is just showing through. I was worried that Marvel was going to get too big and too stupid with multiverse stuff and these half-assed movies seem to be going that way.

Just saw it. My wife and I were entertained the entire movie. Liked it a lot! It is not Infinity War or Endgame. It is not even Winter Soldier or Civil War. Not Epic. But it was a fun movie.

I think one of the reasons Ragnorak worked so well was b/c you had Bruce Banner/Hulk playing the straight man to Thor's wackiness. L&T cuts the straight man out, and all you are left with is the constant zaniness trying to one-up itself. Jane is too confident on her Thor form, and her mortal backstory is too depressing to play the straight woman.

I think you summed up one of the primary issues of the film. There was no canvas for the paint to pop from. The humor was just haphazardly flung all over the place.

Actually, the movie has the action, but the script and direction put me to sleep, literally. I could definitely wait until it appears open source on the Internet. I usually use some of the https://www.firesticktricks.com/best-torrent-client.html to watch movies and TV shows for free. Nevertheless, I am a Marvel Universe fan, so I don't regret going to the theater anyway.

Thor seemed like he was dumber than in Ragnarok. Entertaining movie but I left feeling a little disappointed. Christian Bale was by far the best thing about this movie.

Saw it tonight. The first 2/3 of the movie were not good at all. Just bad. A few funny moments but way too many misses. Way too goofy. Probably the worst Thor movie until the last act. It somewhat redeemed itself. Butcher was strong. I liked Mighty Thor. The daughter twist was great. Fight scenes worked. I have zero interest to ever see it again. I'm starting to lose faith in the MCU. Outside of both Spider-Man's, everything after Endgame has been just okay.

I watched Infinity War and Endgame this week. I'm wondering if these movies get hit as hard if they'd come out before those. They really reset the bar for comic book movies.

Seeing the scores I was expecting this movie to be garbage. Thor is my favorite avenger so I've been pretty stoked. Life got in the way of seeing it, numbers were poor, I was a little down going in but I thought it was fun. I was looking forward to reading this thread.

Boy was that a mistake.

Finally saw it this afternoon.

Way too much camp, too much humor (that often fell flat), and barely any of the story notes were allowed time to breathe.

I love the MCU so much, but this movie is in the bottom of Phase 4, which puts is squarely in the bottom of the entire MCU.

The visuals were outstanding, and I was thrilled to see all the individual characters on the big screen again, but this is the first time I've seen something from Taika that felt phoned in.

Going forward for Thor, I'd like to see something set up in Season 2 of Loki where that version of Loki is eventually reunited with Thor on the big screen.

Well, as usual, I guess I'm happy that I don't know enough about movie-making and such to hate this movie like some of you. Wife and I saw it tonight and liked it. Not loved (as someone mentioned, Thor seemed unnecessarily dumb at times) but it was fun. Definitely not IW or Endgame, but still glad we saw it.

So is Love the first character fully created within the MCU? I think so. Do you guys think she will be based on some sort of comic counter-part? Likely will be a part of whatever future Young Avengers projects I'm guessing.

Nope. That honor goes to Agent Phil Coulson who, oddly enough, took this mantle in the very first MCU movie - Iron Man.

They kinda did him dirty in the MCU too. They punted him off to Agents of SHIELD and now it's not even canon right?

After looking it up, it looks like the female character playing Ghost is new. I thought I remembered it being a new character, I guess it was just a new adaptation of the character.
