I mean, there are probably plenty of black actors to play a convincing Drizzt. I wonder if Salvatore would ever let it happen.
I don't think Salvatore has any say. Those are owned by Hasbro.

Pine was good in that wine-country movie (Bottleshock?), and was surprisingly decent as a young James T. Kirk in the only one of those rebootset Start Trek movies I ever watched.

Aside from those, he's probably been in 3 or 4 other movies I've seen, and I don't remember.
I thought this was a drunk post because I don't remember him in that at all but sure enough....there he is. It's also about 15 years old now which is nuts.

He was awesome as Kirk and I still find it kind of wild that Thor was his dad (and not buff at all) in that movie.

You shut your mouth about Gosling. That man is a national treasure. Comedically underrated, and always solid in everything he does.

Ok spill the beans, how much money do you have invested in the Barbie movie?

The gelatinous cube was freakin' awesome, and Chris Pine is easily the best James T Kirk (with all due respect to the guy from Strange New Worlds).

Bran?

What is his special power, making the enemy have to pause to poop so then you easily eliminate the enemy??

Tell me Ryan Gosling isn't fantastic in Crazy Stupid Love. Tell me he's not hilarious in The Nice Guys, one of the best comedies of the past ten years. I mean... Blue Valentine... Drive... The Place Beyond the Pines... The Big Short... La La Land... Blade Runner 2049... First Man... I could go on and on.

Also tell me he hasn't been in two of the best SNL sketches of the modern era...

What application is that? Is that an online D&D module?

I'm kind of having some heart palpitations wanting to play old school D&D?

obviously it's just a trailer, so you can't really tell, but i'll be interested to see whether the D&D tie-in is really necessary. i've never played, but i would imagine stranger things has brought more awareness of it to a wider audience and maybe they're trying to capitalize on that a bit?
having an owlbear as one of the monsters is a pretty deep dive into D&D creature lore. Some of the other beasts in the trailer are straight out of the greatest book ever published, which I've held onto a copy of since the 1980s, the Monster Manual.

You can snag a copy for like $10. If you're a Stranger Things fan, it's great seeing all of the beasts in there - Mind Flayer, Demogorgon, etc.

Wow, blast from the past. Haven't seen the Monsters Manual in 40 years.

I had that one and another D&D book. I'm sure my mom thought we were all going to be possessed.

Maybe I need to re-read Dragonlance, but I remember feeling that it was a lot more generic fantasy tropes ripped off from LotR. Forgotten Realms had more D&D weirdness and adventure.

The writing of DL was indeed terrible, but loved the plot points.

Just needed better writers.

I first read Dragonlance in Jr high/freshman time frame and thought it was so awesome with deep characters.
Then I made mistake of reading it as an adult and couldn't believe how bad it is.

I don't think the game of Dungeons and Dragons lends itself to ever being a good movie. Someone tries it every 5 years or so. Conan, Excalibur, Princess Bride, Willow, Dungeons & Dragons 2000, Dungeon Siege, etc. Other than the original source, Lord of the Rings, they've all been swiss cheese at best, pure crap at worst.

That being said, I've seen all of those movies multiple times. I'm in. When does this train wreck of a movie start?
