Are we to believe that a 5' nothing, 100 lb girl can tackle a 6'3" 200 lb dude and then hold him down long enough to knife him in the neck? Done with this show lmao.
This is the root of most if not all complaints about the story thus far.Quote:
Ultimately, I think that's the problem; this is a single-person video game.

But I will say, if the opening scene of the season where Ellie was training didn't clue you in that that's exactly the type of **** she was gonna be doing this season, then that's kind of on you. That was obviously setting up her being able to do it in last night's episode. And there's gonna be a lot more of it I'm sure.
You should probably just drop the show now if it's gonna keep bothering you.
Agree. She did go from "You love me too!" to "I'm going to be a Dad" very fast.AJ02 said:
For me the my eye-rolly thing was asking the viewers to switch from seeing Ellie as a whiny, angsty teen to a parent in the span of 2-3 episodes. Really?? We go from her giving Joel the silent treatment and sparring with a bigot for calling her out at a dance, to expecting to take her seriously in raising a baby?
I guess you missed the captions of "2018 Seattle" and "11 years later" or something along those linesMW03 said:
(3) How about more than 20 seconds with Jeffrey Wright chastising them for calling them voters to set the stage for the flip from FEDRA to the others? I didn't even clock that that was a flashback at first. They just jumped straight from that to him torturing the cultist. When the victim wasn't on screen, I thought it was the FEDRA guy they pulled out.
It seemed very odd to me. Partially b/c I think it was a "yes, the hero is going to be a butch lesbian" moment. Then with all that going on, I could kind of see a movie or show turning it into a hookup scene if it were a guy/girl, as unbelievable as it would be. However, I couldn't see it being a hookup scene if Dina was telling the guy she was pregnant with some other guys baby in that moment, which is essentially what that was. I guess the "fun" of it being a more poly arrangement I suppose.MW03 said:
(2) I don't care about the sex scene, but the timing of everything just seemed very odd. There's an attack, they get through the turnstile and seemingly into the next building. Then suddenly, it's "I'm going to go to sleep in that chair and you can shoot me if I turn." What about the swarm of zombies or WLF patrol next door? We're not worried about that anymore? Alright, so then she wakes up, and it's, "You haven't changed, I'm pregnant, let's immediately get it on."
Yes, from the gameplay I have watched, TV Dina is a big upgrade.Ol Jock 99 said:
While people can differ on Bella Ramsey as Ellie, we have that to agree that TV Dina is quite the upgrade.

Maybe I missed if someone mentioned it before in this thread but I just realized on the re-watch that Frank is Armond From White Lotus.AJ02 said:
I struggle to see how the Frank & Bill storyline could've carried the weight it did had they NOT been gay. It almost feels like they had to be gay for the storyline to work.
Let's say Bill was hetero. How does the story go if a woman wanders onto his property like Frank did? The story is about Bill letting down his walls and coming to care deeply for Frank, to the point life isn't worth living without him. If Bill is just a straight incel type.....it's not going to be impactful for him to let his walls down to a hot straight woman. A straight man thinking with his peen when a hot vulnerable woman is involved isn't compelling drama. Yeah, it could just be your average love story, but......boring and overdone.
Okay, so let's say the bill character should be a female and a man stumbles upon her town. We're supposed to believe a straight woman rigged the town and set it up to the extent Bill did? She's a gun-loving, doomsday prepper, possibly autistic, and a good-looking man wanders onto her property and they fall in love? I don't buy that either. Again, another possible boring love story, but I'd have a hard time buying into the image of the strong woman falling in love with the relatively helpless man.
Lastly, let's make Bill a lesbian woman and Frank another lesbian that wanders onto his property. Anybody here honestly want to watch a gun-toting, prepper lesbian (probably not the lipstick type) and her love story? If they're both the lipstick type, we're bordering on men fantasy porn. Nope.
So it almost had to be a gay male relationship.
