That seems like a podcast he was on. I wonder where the complete episode is?

Purely partisan family/politics.

Illinois politicians are just invariably the definition of corrupt to the core.

The Pritzker family was the single largest donor group to GCF's presidential run years back. The grift is strong with them, and not just JB.

It would be interesting, to say the least, to see their ties to trafficking etc. via their NGO network. The family originally immigrated from Ukraine (way back when), but Penny was a special envoy of the state department for peepaw:
Quote:

Over the last year, Special Representative Penny Pritzker has been a tireless advocate of Ukraine's economic recovery. She has traveled to Ukraine six times, leading multiple CEO delegations to Kyiv, and making stops across Europe, all with the primary objective of helping the people of Ukraine lay the groundwork for full-scale economic recovery and EU accession. I am grateful for Penny's public service, and for re-joining government and stepping into this role at such a critical time.

Penny's accomplishments are numerous. She championed the cause for approximately $9 billion in economic assistance to Ukraine in the most recent supplemental; helped launch the G7+ Multi-agency Donor Coordination Platform Business Advisory Council to provide essential private sector insights, expertise, and visibility in support of Ukraine's recovery; supported Ukraine's effort to pass key economic reforms to catalyze private sector investment; started a Defense Industrial Base "Deal Team" that accelerates licensing, co-production, and joint ventures between U.S. and Ukrainian defense companies; and worked closely with private sector companies to bring essential war-risk insurance to market. As a result, Ukraine is better prepared for its future integrated with Euro-Atlantic institutions and plugged into European and global markets.

While Penny's position is limited to one year by statute, the work she began will continue. Deputy Secretary of State for Management & Resources Richard Verma will carry forward her work in service of the United States' efforts to support Ukraine's economic recovery. The Biden administration is committed to helping Ukraine stand strongly on its own feet militarily, economically, and democratically.
"Defense Industrial Base 'Deal Team'" is a fascinating term. She has also served on the boards of several organizations, such as the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

Nice. Making the judge try to come up with why some can be and other can't be frozen
They should just make a filing for each and every payment that is made asking the judge if it's ok for them to pay it.

Flood the court with tens of thousands of filings. And don't pay until the court gives permission. Don't want to get in trouble or anything until you've got your permission, right?

Show how ****ing ridiculous it is for the executive branch to have to get approval from the judicial branch to do its ****ing job.

Either the founding fathers were geniuses for making things work this way or f*king idiots for making things work this way.

Regardless, is there anything that can be done to fix this problem so that future presidents can have the freedom they need to do what they want without being tied up?

Nice. Was coming to post that. For the non X-ers:
Quote:

I've started reading it and my first reaction is "Weak Sauce."

I think they are doomed. They have returned to the "Trump can't dismantled the Agency" when Judge Nichols has already rejected that argument.

He issued a TRO on 2 claims -- harm from being cut-off from threat warning email system when placed on paid leave; and 30 day repatriation requirement when prior USAID practice was as long as 6 months.

Those are the only two grounds to move the TRO to an Injunction, and the Trump Admin has addressed each in the past 4 days as I knew they would.

Plaintiffs also filed a Show Case re Contempt petition claiming that not everyone was restored to email timely in accord with the limited TRO issued -- but when Govt asked for last names so it could confirm and fix any issues, Plaintiffs declined to give last names.

Not the kind of thing you would expect if they were really worried about getting everyone back on email.

Judges notice that stuff.

I'll break down the Reply shortly.

Hearing set for 11:00 am tomorrow.

Stop all payments then submit, line item by line item, in separate motions, asking for confirmation which payments the court requires they resume. I like that idea.

Spoiler: OCCRP is absolutely political and staffed by far leftists. Devin Archer, Hunter Biden were involved deeply with them.

USAID is an enemy of Israel, and again fully staffed by far left marxists. Free Beacon: Not political?
Quote:

As the Trump administration works to shutter the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), current and former U.S. officials who worked closely with the embattled aid group say they watched for years as it funneled millions of dollars to anti-Israel advocacy groups and entities linked to terrorism.

That funding caused internal friction across multiple administrations, according to those who spoke with the Washington Free Beacon. In some cases, USAID fought to conceal how taxpayer funds were spent. And when it came to Israel, officials recalled battling USAID over funding for groups that worked to undermine the Jewish state or maintained ties to terror organizations.

"For those who believe in a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, elements of USAID have been problematic for years," said one former State Department official who worked with USAID during the Biden administration. "There was even a lack of embarrassment among some USAID staffers about being associated with terrorist organizations."

Some of the terror-tied funding initiatives are publicly known. In November 2022, for instance, USAID awarded $100,000 to a Palestinian activist group whose leaders hailed the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a designated terror group. Just six days before Hamas's Oct. 7 assault on Israel, USAID handed $900,000 "to a terror charity in Gaza involved with the son of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh."
The pro-Hamas demonstrations/mobs in the US were almost certainly funded by organizations originally funded by USAID. And BLM. And Antifa. And…

Not all this spending was specifically appropriated

I have asked before without getting an answer, do continuing resolutions specify how money is to be spent?

The short answer is that they are not specifically directed, which is a feature to the swamp/CIA/DoD etc. which use the USAID grants for purposes they don't want to run by congress/the President, and/or are statutorily precluded from doing themselves (ahem, NGO's though, that's all good and well, just call it 'water bottles').

A longer answer would be the President has wide authority to redirect/control grants but needs to by statute consult congress as he does so.

So, according to MemphisAg, Trump is not bound by anything not specifically appropriated, and can control those funds

One would think so, for disbursements by agencies/departments in the executive branch. It's a little more complicated for multi-year grants with contractual terms etc., but not much.

The Executive branch is either under the control of the executive, or it isn't.

If USAID paid for that (and it has the USAID logo) then that would have required an expenditure of federal funds, which would have to have been approved, leaving a paper trail to a whole lot of people that want to get fired for cause.

Even if an outside organization printed it, they either used the logo with permission (meaning the person that granted permission needs to be fired), or the organization that printed it used the USAID logo without permission which should be punishable by law.
