No question there are lots of good reasons to cut off USAID, but there are employees and contractors in some pretty rough parts of the world who are finding their emails locked, payment system shut down, and nobody home at HQ to even talk to about what to do. Benz has done way more than research. Benz was with the State Dept under Trump the first time and saw the inner workings of how Barry and Hillary exploited USAID to launder money. Here is a little education for you. The process is:
1. Musk finds bull**** waste,
2. Musk brings it to Trump,
3. Trump either approves or not
4. If Trump approves, the plan is carried out

USAID was created in 1961 via the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961.

Given that it was a law created by Congress, all Trump can do is fire everyone and not refill those positions.

But that doesn't "end" USAID. The next democrat president can simply re-fill those positions and bring USAID right back to where it was on January 19, 2025.

While a 4 year savings is nice, Trump has to get Congress to act to end USAID (and the Dept. of Education and whatever else he want to eliminate) so that it would require another act of Congress to bring the program back. THAT is the only thing that will actually "eliminate" USAID rather than simply hitting the pause button while Trump is POTUS.

No...The Foreign Assistance Act mandated that SOME agency had to be created.

JFK created USAID via an EO. Trump can do whatever he wants via an EO to close it down.

Now, Trump does need to get Congress to amend that Act to remove the requirement for the agency, so I agree with you on that.
