I'm against police cars with the ghost graphics trying to hide out in ditches to catch speeders too. (they should also have to obey all traffic laws unless they have lights and sirens on too, but that's a different thread) When you agree to join the military/police/LEO of any kind, you are aware of the risks. Retribution has been a risk forever.

On the surface level, this was a college student with a legal visa whose only alleged crime was having opinions, and she was engaged in perfectly lawful activity of going to a place of worship when assaulted by men in hoodies and masks who claimed to be police officers.

That is wild. If I were her I would have been fighting for my life, assuming I was being kidnapped and I would keep fighting until uniformed officers showed up or I was incapacitated. Why would I believe that some strange men in hoodies and masks were cops?

Unfortunately not shocking at all that some of you don't see how this can be further abused and misused by the democrats if they ever manage to stumble their way back into power. "But but but they did it to me first" is not the correct answer in these situations.

Apples to oranges. They revoked her privilege to be here. She is a non citizen and removed her.

You cannot remove citizens from the US.

And you actually think Hamas is not a terrorist organization? And that the NRA is one? One of these is demonstrably not like the other.

Try harder.
According to the OP she was arrested for her op-ed, which had nothing to do with Hamas and everything to do with a useless student senate at a diploma mill university doing things that student senates do.

You don't get to spend four years whining and crying about the lack of due process for January 6 victims and then turn around and encourage the same behavior against people you disagree with.

She is a non-immigrant. She can be removed. The end.

Edit: I'll give an example. When I was ICE is Dallas, a non immigrant from Holland slept with a married man she should not have and the wife complained to her Senator. Bing bang boom, it ended up on my desk, and I arrested her the next day at the Las Colinas Equestrian Center where she was riding and she was on the plane back to Holland the following week.

Tom, you work with ICE?
Cool!

Not anymore. I was a Special Agent from 1997-2003. I'm an attorney now.

You're still special to me, Tom.

Naturalized citizens will be the next phase of this. These same arguments can be applied to any naturalized citizen. We gave them citizenship based on them taking certain oaths. Protesting America's allies can be deemed a violation of those oaths. And off you go.

Maybe we should be having a debate about the true definition of citizenship and what one must do to retain it. Why should our country grant citizenship to anyone who is not loyal to it?

Is this something you are advocating?

At what time has the administration asserted that?

That is speculation that has been circulating around, but no one from the government has said it...

Not so hard to see what the left fears the most when they're projecting that fear in an attempted analogy.

What do you mean by "loyal?" Are you suggesting that being critical of the government could jeopardize your right to be a citizen?

Yikes….where the hell are we headed

They don't have to.

My point, though, is that that op-ed has been thrown out there as the definitive reason for the arrest and removal order when the government has NEVER asserted that it was.

It is pure speculation.

I'm afraid if she actually committed a crime that would be super easy to come out and say publicly. But that hasn't happened.

Also, strangely…criticism of ANOTHER particular foreign government somehow equates to the United States.

Denaturalization. You signed documents declaring your loyalty to this country. Causing a ruckus like this means you were lying when you signed those documents. Naturalization fraud is grounds for denaturalization.

https://edition.cnn.com/2025/03/27/us/rumeysa-ozturk-detained-what-we-know/index.html

This is the best article I could find.

Quote:

The petition also asks the court to restore her F-1 student visa. The state department revoked her visa on March 21 but she was not notified until she received a notice to appear from ICE after her arrest on March 25, the petition says.

Quote:

One officer wearing a hat and hoodie grabs her arms, causing Ozturk to shriek in fear as another pulls out a concealed badge on a lanyard and confiscates her cell phone.

Shortly afterward, the officers all pull cloth coverings over their mouths and noses, some of them wearing sunglasses, as one of them restrains Ozturk's hands behind her back.
As the officers say, "We're the police," a person not seen in the video can be heard responding, "Yeah, you don't look like it. Why are you hiding your faces?"
One minute after the encounter began, Ozturk is walked into a waiting SUV and driven away.

At best, this was very very very very very poorly executed.
This is the best construction I can put on the situation.

This was bad. Agents wearing hoodies dragging a woman off to prison for an Op-ed or legally protesting is very bad. Revoking her visa is questionable, but what they did to her is an outrage. This is like when Biden's DOJ sent 15 goons to arrest a guy for some minor incident that local PD didn't think warranted an investigation.

You understand that all Special Agent/GS-1811s are plain clothes officers, correct?

The FBI, DEA, ATF, USMS, SS, OIGs, etc are all "plain clothes." Their SRT teams have uniforms and they have ballistic vests and raid jackets with markings, but they work every single day in plain clothes. They do not have marked police vehicles. Some of those agencies like the SS have uniformed divisions, but those are not thier agents but rather static security.

There are only a very few uniformed federal LEOs with CBP having the bulk of them. Park Police. Capitol Police. FPS.

For the "but the First Amendment!" crowd...I am sorry, but Islamic foreigners (nor any other type of foreigner) do not have an endless right to come over here and raise hell while on guest visas. Do we not have right to pull peoples' visas? We should certainly be able to do that for people who show they are a poor cultural fit or that they are hellbent on causing chaos/discord.

For the left winger/slippery slope crowd...what if there was an increasing phenomenon of white German/Dutch/Russian kids on student visas holding neo nazi rallies at American campuses, and intimidating Jewish students and calling for them to basically be wiped out and for western civilization to be "eliminated".

Something tells me no one would be rushing to these peoples' defense...we would all be saying "good riddance" and "FAFO".

Plus, we have enough muslims as it is. We need to quit importing them. Send this girl right back to Turkey where she can hate Jews and The West to her heart's content.

I would. Because I think Due Process is fundamental to making this country great. I don't care what you are accused of, there is a process that needs to be followed and that's what makes us different than the PRC. I am fiercely protective of those rights because without those controls, all of us are in danger of a tyrannical government.

Why on earth would any visitor get full rights of an American citizen or due process when we can literally just revoke their visa and send them back to the country that they are so fond of?

I disagree with the notion that me, as an American citizen, is at any type of civil rights infringement risks just because we can decide who can visit this country and who cannot. I just don't see ANY slippery slope here.

I get it, she is kind of sweet and innocent looking. But just remember that she depises Jews and follows a blood thirtsy pedophile who forced a SIX year old girl into marriage to be his sex slave.
Tom Fox

This is following due process. If the govt revoked her visa she no longer has legal status. The agents assigned to remove people without status arrested her. That initiates the removal process.

Post arrest, she will be served with removal documents and have a chance to argue her case to an immigration judge or waive that and be removed to her home country more quickly.

Please point out where due process was not afforded.
