Wait, low-trust people who form the bedrock of low-trust societies are caught bringing their low-trust culture/values to the U.S. and turning it into the exact same sh***ole they came from??!So many of these people need an Argentinian helicopter ride ASAP!!! It is not the soil or the fauna that makes third-world crap-hole countries, crap holes. It is the people that make the 3rd world garbage. When you bring in this garbage, you are slowly, by a thousand cuts, turning America into a 3rd-world craphole. I don't value their values or culture. My values/culture made the greatest country on the planet. Gave the world Western Civ. Their values/cultures make countries where people risk getting murdered/raped to get out!!!

There's also the Robert Putnam long-term study that found every social measurement you could think of was negative, but there was possibly some nominal economic benefit in the long run.

God, this is depressing!!!

Over the last two decades, as economists began using big datasets and modern computing power to reveal the sources of national prosperity, their statistical results kept pointing toward the power of culture to drive the wealth of nations. In The Culture Transplant, Garett Jones documents the cultural foundations of cross-country income differences, showing that immigrants import cultural attitudes from their homelandstoward saving, toward trust, and toward the role of governmentthat persist for decades, and likely for centuries, in their new national homes. Full assimilation in a generation or two, Jones reports, is a myth. And the cultural traits migrants bring to their new homes have enduring effects upon a nation's economic potentia

Undoubtedly smuggling dogs and cats to the Labor Day meat marked in Springfield, OH.

Regardless, it could have been anyone in that fan, so I think it makes it a bit less of a story but at least got the focus shown on the illegal trucker issue.

We never were; it's just that social media has helped us see past the veil.

Things like this are not unexpected, even by the companies that employ these people; it's just another calculated risk. As long as the companies that hire these people can save money in the long run, moments like this aren't even a drop in the bucket for them to even worry about, much less care about.

You're spot on, but it's not just huge corporations. Don't kid yourself into thinking the "small business owner" isn't doing the same thing.

Texas is largely responsible for the truck drivers that don't speak English on Americas roadways. They are predominately originating from the state of Texas.

Could be true, but where is that data from?

Anybody can make a flashy graphic if they don't have to back it up with facts.

The Capitalistic part is that if the regulatory body would enforce what they're supposed to, the lack of credentialed drivers would drive wages up to where they should be.

Yes, shipping would be more, but it would be where it's supposed to be.

Part of buying/selling a product is the price to get it to where it's supposed to be.

What happens if the price of shipping across the country is too high?

Consumers either buy local, or move closer to the source. If it's a product that has a huge consumer base, you create jobs all over the country to manufacture the product instead of trying to make it in Maine and ship it to Arizona.

This government has failed in commerce.

That dude is in shorts and it does not look like a reefer trailer, so it will be a bigger story if running humans.

I would imagine a lot of this is regular cargo being shipped as cheap, Temu as possible. Start confiscating and holding the product owners / shippers / receivers all accountable.

This isn't hiring illegals to cut your grass. There is much more regulation and ability to check records with this **** that people know when they have jumped the line to illegal.

That dude obviously doesn't know what he posted. That graph is pointing out that Texas is leading the country in putting non-English speaking drivers out of service. I.E. taking them off the road. That's what that chart is pointing out, not where they originate from.

I saw 10 big rigs at a rest stop yesterday. All ten had 1 state trooper parked next to the driver's side door. I'm guessing this foreign nonsense is being addressed.

I do some logistics with a major school district in Texas. The amount of English speaking drivers I've had to work with has plummeted the last few years. One even tried to get me to speak into some translation app on his phone for our conversation, I told him "not interested" He ended up calling his supervisor and I spoke to him on speaker phone in order to just get the job done.

That's a call to the DOT for me. If they can't speak/read English... sorry, you shouldn't be on the roads.

Because the boys are thirsty in Atlanta, and there's beer in Texarkana.

That part of I35 is like the chase scene from Road Warrior and all the vehicles are semis with 65 MPH governors. Take you life in your own hands. And half the trailers are carrying exchange students.
